[OOC] Hogwarts: The Golden Era

Setting: After the fall of Voldemort, the magical world experienced a long period of stability; the economy boomed, the last death eaters were rounded up, and everyone was, more or less, safe. Harry Potter was heralded as a hero, and lived with unwanted fame for the rest of his life.

2015: Wizards have their own brand of cellphone. 2012 was branded as the age of magic-tech. Pureblood supremacy is on the decline. Harry Potter is dead. His death at an early age of 35 shocked the world, and wizards everywhere fell into a deep mourning. “Who will protect us now?” was the main concern. But nothing changed. The event was considered nothing more than a desperate escape by elderly wizards, and life went on. However, many overlook the possibilities of other dark forces at play.....

Plot: Since the fall of the Dark Lord, the Death Eaters have been wasting away in Azkaban. But with the death of the boy who was pivotal in their downfall, there has been scheming behind the prison bars. Unknown to those relishing in the peace of the wizarding world, the former Death Eaters and their allies outside of Azkaban have been planning an insurrection. For the most part, our heroes are caught up with their day to day events at Hogwarts, unaware of these events going on elsewhere in the wizarding world. Little do the students at Hogwarts know, their bubble of peace is soon to be shattered.

Hey guys! So our story will focus on around a group of 4 or so friends going through their last year at Hogwarts. Two slots are reserved, mine and that of my co-creator, WanderBug. Our CS is under the hider below. We are looking for interesting, complex, and diverse characters, so get creative!! :D And please be aware that we won’t be accepting everyone who applies. Since we've got such a small group, we're looking for committed RPers only!

The events and info we have above are flexible, so feel free to let us know if you have any other ideas! Also, the venue for our RP is subject to change since RPG is prone to crashing, but as of now, we’ll stay on here.

With that said, he's not a particularly competitive person, instead believing that each should keep to their own, and it's every man for himself. You don't mess with me, I don't mess with you. In many ways, Artemis can also be awkward. Raised to be poised, proper, and polite, he's awkwardly mannered, which can unintentionally lead him to look silly. Yet at the same time, he can be condescending of those who aren't as poised as one should be, leading to confusion as to why they are laughing at him.

He could have lived his days with money and comfort, but unfortunately for him, Artemis displayed certain magical tendencies. In his childhood, he experienced occasional bouts of accidental magic. He, of course, had no idea what was going on, and his parents saw him as a problem child, acting up and getting into mischief, certainly not the proper boy they wanted. So, Artemis was carted off to an all-boy's military school at a young age. Now and then, these magical outbursts occurred. His teachers mistrusted and punished him, and he was the weird kid among his classmates, not really growing close with any of the other boys. He was miserable, that is, until an owl dropped a letter through his window.

Coming into Hogwarts, Artemis looked forward to his new life. The mistrust between him and his parents only grew, but he found excitement at the prospect of learning magic. However, life among his classmates was not that different. He was sorted into Slytherin, only to find that the house idealized pure-blooded witches and wizards over the others. Being ostracized and called a "Mudblood" was a common occurrence. Most of his housemates were pure-bloods, many of them pompous and privileged children like him, but of a different breed.

Nix is extremely thin and tall, much to her discomfort, since normally, she will tower over the other females of Hogwarts, and is somewhat uncomfortable about this fact. Other then her height, Nix is rather pretty, with a small face, long, red hair, and large, expressive blue eyes. Her hair is normally down and rather messy, often tangling throughout the day, but during Quidditch games it is held high in a ponytail to keep out of her face. Healthy, Nix is known for her flexible and strong body and her glowing, freckled skin. Will normally be seen wearing her class robes or comfortable, affordable pants and tee-shirts, as she doesn't care much for fashion or appearances (though she does own

Personality:
An optimistic person, Nix is well known for her bright smiles and cheery laughs. While she is somewhat air-headed, (in both school and in general) she has a good heart and will try her best to be kind to everyone. Extremely stubborn and competitive, Nix will not stand down from a challenge and vows to win in everything she does. Normally, Nix will put others before herself, and is an extremely protective friend, but this often leads to being rather reckless alone and she is prone to illness and injuries because she fails to care for herself.

Very self-conscious, Nixus loves to hide behind her hair when she's feeling nervous, and often says that she hates herself when alone or with an extremely close friend or family member. Hates dressing up, and is very boyish (but dislikes being called a tomboy, as that is somewhat sexist). Easily flustered, Nix hates being called out on her mistakes, but is rather oblivious to men who decide to flirt with her. Honest to a fault, Nix has trouble keeping secrets and often wonders out loud about people's appearances and attitudes. This bluntness has caused a few arguments to spur, especially when she was around her father, but Nix is rather good at keeping a cool head when fighting and most arguments just seem to brush off her.

While she does have a great fear of the dark, Nix is very, very brave. Normally, her courage over powers her fears, though this also leads to her being a bit more reckless then usual. If one were to get on Nix's bad side, it would show clear as day. She will grow quiet, glare at everyone passing by, and might even snap out at people who try to find out what's wrong. Physical fighting might occur, as she isn't afraid to throw a punch, so it's best to stay on her good side.

History:
Born into a family of two on the green landscape of Scotland's rural areas, Abelia was blessed with a gentle and kind childhood. Her mother was a gorgeous woman named Abel, and her father was a rather meek man named Jim, and they spent their days playing, relaxing, and learning, just as any family should. However, on Abelia's fifth birthday, Abel suddenly vanished from their household, and Jim and Abelia were left alone in their small house, no mother, no wife. No closure. Only a small present, which contained a beautiful white daisy necklace.

Abelia was then given the responsibility of helping her father cook, clean, and basically survive without a mother's touch. She was forced to grow up quickly, but did not lose any of the kindness she was taught at her young age, and because of this she was rather popular in primary school. There were some, well, strange events that usually occurred around Abelia, though, such as dead flowers blooming whenever she got close to inspect some stems, papers levitating in the air during a heated discussion, and even the lights suddenly flashing on and off during an emotional episode.

On her eleventh birthday, Abelia and her father were celebrating as they usually did when a letter sudden shot through the door and into Jim's hands. After a moment of reading, he sighed, and Abelia was taught about her mysterious mother, who just so happened to be a witch. The letter was addressed to Abelia, and it was a letter of acceptance to the magical school of Hogwarts. They spent the rest of the day discussing if she should attend, with Abelia being rather concerned about the letter while her father insisted that she went.

The final verdict ended on platform nine and three-quarters, where Abelia gave her father a final hug before getting on the train to Hogsmeade for the first time in her life. Fear and excitement and confusion filled most of her head, but in the end, she did begin to feel a bit at peace, knowing that now she can learn to control her strange powers, and the idea of finding out where her mother went away too was suddenly becoming a big wish for the small girl.

Now, six years later, Abelia has become Nix, the Gryffindor Seeker, the dorm room mother, and the bad test taker. Preparing for the N.E.W.Ts and keeping up her physical body was the greatest priority for this year, but still, she had yet to find any clues on her mother...

Strengths:
Henry's quite the studious type, he will not pass a chance to learn something new especially when it comes to magic and the wizarding world. Quick-witted. He's fond of studying complex things, how they work, and what makes them, thus has a thing for paying close attention to details. Henry tends to excel in Charms and Transfiguration.

Weaknesses:
Henry is very curious, he doesn't stop at nothing just to satisfy that curiosity which always puts him in tough situations. Although he's good at his academic aspect of education, Henry on the other hand, is not very athletic. He tires quickly, and he tends to become really clumsy when he's tired.

History:
Henry's family originally came from Hong Kong before they decided to move to America. He is the youngest of three children, and the only one who has shown inclination towards the magical, one they hadnt had in the family for a very long time since Henry's great great great grandfather. So it was little to no surprise when his acceptance letter to Hogwarts came on his eleventh birthday. His father, however, was not entirely thrilled by the idea of his youngest son going off to learn witchcraft in some school he hasnt even heard of. He tried to dissuade Henry, but the boy was unrelenting. Finding an ally in his mother, Henry was sent off to England without his father's permission.

His life at Hogwarts, at first, was not easy. He was struggling to keep up with all the magical stuff, while trying adjust to that entirely new culture of the wizarding world. Also, due to the language barrier between him and the other students (he doesnt speak english very well at the time, mostly Mandarin), he was cast out. So he dedicated most of his time to studying, which made him on top of his class that soon got him a few friends.

Personality: Stephen is a rather average fellow. He is rather cheery, or at least contented with his lot in life, and enjoys life at Hogwarts. He doesn't expect much of himself, content to let others take the lead. Although he possesses courage, it rarely manifests itself, as above all else, Stephen is humble. Although many a snobby student would say it is because he has nothing to brag about, Stephen is never one to toot his own horn, yet is the first to celebrate others achievements. However, he isn’t one to pick up on the more subtle things in life.
Strengths: Stephen is a capable flyer, with a gift for being in the air.
Stephen can dance.
He is a very competent duelist, with an inclination for Defence against the Dark Arts.
Weaknesses: Stephen is competent in most other forms of magic, but not outstanding in any way, with a particular weakness in Herbology.
Despite his ease with people, he still has a somewhat awkward air about him.
He is still rather naïve, and often assumes the best in people.

History: Stephen was a near Hatstall, spending four minutes with the hat on his head until it finally declared him as a Hufflepuff. Many question if he is fit for the house, as does he, and he constantly asks himself if he should have been placed differently. However, he does enjoy the other students in the house. Stephen progressed through Hogwarts, not making much of a mark in any fashion. He became competent in Defence against the Dark Arts. as the years progressed, but this was more than balanced by his inability to comprehend the basic details of Herbology. Nevertheless, he somehow managed to pass his O.W.L.s and is frantically preparing for his N.E.W.Ts, a daunting task. He readily picked up flying, and was offered a position on Hufflepuff’s team in his second year, which he accepted. Although he was later offered the position of captain, he did not accept it, and still plays as Keeper.

Personality: Ryan is the kind of guy that you can always count on for a smile. Through thick and thin, those 20 or so facial muscles of his are almost always pulling his lips up into his trademark smirk. In addition to his upbeat nature, Ryan prides himself on his good sense of humor and outgoing personality, which in turn makes for a guy that is quick to make friends wherever he goes. And once coupled with his strong values of honesty and resolve, the wizard almost seems made for Gryffindor.

But underneath the jokes and smiles, Ryan is actually a person that is all too familiar with the feeling of being alone. Because despite the carefree temperament he gives off, there is actually a lot of concern and worry that fills the young man. But instead of bringing others down with his negative feelings, he is all too quick to mask them with a smile. Consequently, while he makes a lot of friends, very few people actually manage to graduate from merely being a close acquaintance to him.

Being born as the oldest of three siblings, Ryan has always had a deep rooted sense of protectiveness that has followed him throughout his life. And as he grew up, Hogwarts was always the clear path for Ryan, so fitting in was never much of a problem for him. But as a role model for his younger brother and sister, he felt like he couldn't show them any weaknesses like doubt or fear, so instead he replaced them with an even louder laugh. This boisterous nature of his makes him easily recognized throughout the school, but at the same time it would be wrong to call him popular. Nevertheless, tests have always been one of Ryan's most glaring weaknesses, so it is not that surprising when he all but becomes a hermit in his room as he studies for an upcoming exam. The O.W.L. tests alone caused him to completely forget about shaving and a number of gray hairs to take root on his head. To say that he his concerned about his upcoming N.E.W.T.s would be an understatement.

Other: Often wears a simple silver and black band on his right hand that he frequently fiddles with.

:) Hello! Gotta say, I always love to see Potter-verse RPs around. I might not put up a student sheet for this one, considering you already have several and you're only looking for two characters... But I could play, or at least give you a few teacher characters, if you want them. They wouldn't be a big part of the story, of course, but your current roster is woefully small.

Oh, and I noticed a small mistake in the OP: In the class list, you've got Ancient Runes twice and no History of Magic... Plus, most of the "Electives" are still N.E.W.T.-level classes (Arithmancy, Alchemy, Ancient Runes, Divination and Care of Magical Creatures are, at least), and you can drop things like Potions, Transfig, Astronomy, etc., making all of the classes Electives once you get past your O.W.L.s. Just a thought.

I've honestly never seen anyone describe magical people in this universe as inhuman... I mean, the two groups are obviously different, but I think it was pretty well established that humans are humans, and magical humans are just those who happen to have magic (it's even a distinct focus of Voldemort-and-company's philosophy: Muggles and their progeny are less than human, worthy of scorn at best and execution at worst; Dumbledore et al. disagree).

:) It gives an interesting insight into Andi's psyche, given that she was mostly raised among Muggles, and is now living entirely within the Wizarding World.

You're actually right on both counts, but it was late and I was brain fried after a long week. I made the adjustments because, as you point out, that makes no sense at all from an objective reading. Andi does see the distinctions as much sharper than others might, though, for the reason you suggest - she didn't originally want to leave the Muggle world, and was pulled from it in a pretty jarring way.

ADELE

Adele is a six-foot-one Italian mixed Englishman. He has got a very slim, lengthy physique with a bit of toned muscle padded onto his bones, giving him some more meat. The young man has gotten a pair of sharp, pure hazel eyes and a very angular and defined jawline. He has got a very pretty face with a boyish charm, along with a very
rugged and youthful patch of mixed blonde-brown hair on top of his head.

Personality:
Adele is an calm, collected, and snobbish young man. He was born and raised on the concept that power is everything in life and to become powerful you need to be successful and intelligent. The young wizard followed those ideas and tried his best in becoming both successful and intelligent in order to become powerful. Adele has gotten a very knowledgeable and capable head on his shoulders, along with a very momentous drive and thirst for high achievement. With such a power-hungry mind and drive, Adele can sometimes seem vain, blunt, and cold towards others and rather very unfriendly. He is often seen as very serious, lacking greatly in the friendly, social department, but Adele is always focused and determined to do whatever tasked he is assigned.

Often carrying a very pessimistic outlook on life, Adele can be a very big "Negative Nancy" when it comes to a lot of different situation he or his peers puts himself in. He has got a strong sense of respect and great leadership skills, but is a very poor follower to others who he believes does not deserve to be followed, which is something he greatly needs to work on because everyone needs to both lead and follow in their lives to become successful.

Deep within, through the walls and shields that cover his inner mind and heart is a genuinely sweet and compassionate young wizard. He does not have very many friends for his outward attitude and outlook, but once you get past those barriers you can trust Adele whole-heartedly even when it seems as if he is not on your side with his negative attitude. Once Adele is on your side, he will be there to the end, unless you stab him in the back, then you better have made sure he was dead when you did it.

Strengths:

• Adele is honest, bluntly so even to his friends and strangers.


• Driven to a fault, Adele likes accomplishments and finishing something is what he is known to do no matter what the task. He does what he is told and does it well, even if it causes himself pain or discomfort, he finds a way to overcome it or has to at least.


• Charms is one of Adele's most talented areas of expertise. Charms class comes naturally to Adele which is why it is his favorite and most high achieving class he is in.


• Being a strong and capable fighter and duelist as a wizard has it's pros and cons. He believes he is one of the best which gives him a very narcissistic and cocky attitude, but he can hold his own in a fight.

Weaknesses:

• Being negative and pessimistic. For someone who is negative all the time, Adele does try his best to find some sort of small light at the end of the cave. He will make small exceptions to his pessimistic attitude by saying "there's a small chance that..." at the end of his negative comments, trying to bolster the minds of his friends.


• Dealing with creatures and monsters is an area where Adele lacks in. For some reasons both do not like him at all, even the calmed and tamed animals seem to have a distaste for Adele whenever he gets close. He has no understanding of the reason why, but believes it has something to do with his ancestry. The only animal to really love him or show in affection back is his family cat Sarah, and her newborn kitten who Adele adopted for the year, Emmy.

He isn't as uncaring, angry, or mean once you get to know him, well you just get used to the fact that, that's just how he is and it is okay to be like that.


• Adele is a power-hungry youth, he wants success and power and he wants it fast. The young wizard does whatever he can to improve to become more successful and powerful, he wants to strive to the highest point possible, sometimes ignoring the fact that it can possibly hurt or endanger the others around him and himself.

History:
Adele was born into a very loving and successful home. His father is an English journalist who works for the Daily Prophet while his mother is an Italian journalist and advice-columnist for the ever populat Witch Weekly. Both his parents are estingusished and recognized writers as well as talented and successful in their magical prowess too. He was raised on the idea that power is everything in life, and to achieve a status of power you have to become very successful and intelligent, which is why Adele is so driven to become just as powerful and recognized as his parents.

The young man was given and shown love by his parents throughout his life, mostly his mother, so he does now compassion and love, but his drive is just greater. Once he was old enough to attend Hogwarts he did his best to be the best. Adele did so by aceing all of his classes and exams, and achieving 'Outstandings' in Astronomy, Charms, Defense Against the Dark Arts, Potions, and Transfiguration. He had hoped to of had 'Outstandings' in all areas, but was given 'Exceed Expectations' in the others that he did not achieve 'Outstandings' in.

At the moment Adele is in his final years at Hogwards, studying for his N.E.W.T.'s, and honestly trying to figure out what he wants to do with the rest of his life.

You didn't mention anything special with the hat, so if he didn't choose Gryffindor, I don't think he belongs there. That's just me, though, based on your summary of his personality.
