As things always began; it was a calm and sunny afternoon in the City of Nele. The locals were busy in the preparation for the incoming festivities and visitors that would accompany the Festival of Cotopa later in day. Already the streets were lined with decorations and the shops and houses hung charms that dangled over the doorway or on windows. In the grand plaza of Kae Pillon, named in honor after the warrior of legend a platform and effigy of Cotopa were being raised and decorated as it overlooked the river that cut through town and it too had special significance.
Amidst the preparations of the plaza Preistess Kael Dynar of The Temple of Celara instructed her assistants in the opening ceremony involving the mass blessing and the fire pole ceremony. "No, no from the start again!" she said to them as her eyes drifted to the mass of people. Although she did not know why it became so popular. She did know that it managed to attract a variety of foreigners to the city when this festival was to happen.
Foreign visitors such as a troupe of traveling magicians and other entertainers using the festival to gain audience and coin. Or Businessmen taking an excursion for the beauty of the festival here while they negotiate on deals. Or the well off who too decided to take a action to enjoy the festivities. Of course they all had one thing in common. Whether for business or pleasure they all their own business to attend to. Be it the gang of pickpockets ready to cut purses and steal when all eyes are on the ceremony. Or a man in odd garb wandering from vendor to vendor of curiosities asking if he'd seen a man only to sigh in exasperation as the answer was no.
