Especially on impossible.

Two shots, if both are crits, mec=dead.

Yeah, but I find them more expendable. They can be built pretty easily and have a relatively high pool of health. Shivs especially are good for this purpose, expendable drone warriors. I just use them to take the shots while my proper squad pwns xD If you know the AI good enough, you know all the stupid things it does too, like prioritise flanking enemies... even if they aren't really as much of a threat

MECs get quite OP when you get particle beams. Those things can one shot most enemies and two shot sectopods
My two MEC troopers on my current campaign both have a 100+ kills.

Shivs are not nearly as well trained, you want them as last resorts or cannon fodder. Not reliable squad members.
The mechs in EW although look it are not tanks, if anything they're even more fragile than normal soldiers cause they can't take cover.

Damn powerful, but vulnerable.

I disagree, they soak up enough damage, and once you've upgraded the kinetic strike, 18 damage 0.0

I think the best squad: Squadsight sniper with plasma and double tap, along with mec trooper, a hover shiv (great for spotting, and once it's in the air it gets a fair defensive bonus). Heavy (blaster launcher = >:D 13 Crit damage wooo!) a support and an assualt, preferably ALL psionic (Mind Controlling an enemy unit who is flanking an enemy group will cause the enemy to prioritise him, useful waste of their turn if you succeed. One with telekinetic field is useful, 40% off all their hit chances >:D). There you go, a spotter for the sniper, damage dealer of doom, a doomsday sniper and a team of badasses. What could go wrong?

That said, Derpestein, I'm willing to put it here because I have no preconceptions on how RPs of all categories work. If you can prove that this RP will work better as a casual RP rather than a mix of high casual and advance, I might just give your suggestion a shot. It is an open discussion after all.

What that guy said about advance RPs is right. Everything he said. We don't flaunt words. We put them to good use. We put them to good use, so if a post is long, it's because it needs to be long. If there's an advance roleplay who's just spamming words in my RP, I think everyone would likely talk to him about it.

Honestly? I've never tried Advanced. It just seemed so...daunting. It seems like, to even be able to take part you have to write so many words. Holy shite.

I think that casual can also put words to good use and more people will join, since some people might be afraid if doing advanced.

But whatever, if this does go advanced, I'm willing to try it out because goddamnit, X-com!

Not entirely true. I'll admit that some Advanced players like to put minimum size/word count limits on their RPs, but personally, as a habitual Advanced player (I only delve into casual because I don't have enough RPs), I really don't care for things like that. For me, Advanced is about the quality, not the quantity, and as far as I'm concerned that's how it should be. Length limits can ruin a post through filler.

No problem guys. This is where the casual elements I talk about comes in. Taking a page (or hundreds) from Ernest Hemmingway, indeed, quality matters tye most. I have no quarrels with having a minimum of like two paragraphs as long as it's beefed up with all the goodness that exists in writing, like character interaction, development, a good show of the setting, the emotions. Or some powerful scene that only the lack of words can imply.

What I can do is that I can make damn sure that there are no unreasonable rules and attitude that would impede such writing and some of the advantages offered by the casual experience.

Edit: Also, our discussion of this has lead me to a crazy idea- the RP could become one of the first, if the first Casual-Advance RP.

I could post an interest check in both the casual and advance section. Casual RPers and Advance RPers could then roleplay together in IC. They will abide by the same rules, but expectations will differ.

Since neither types of RPers are better than the other obviously, I'll tailor the expectations for each category accordingly.

I need input for this idea though, because this is the first time I've ever thought about it.
