Diplomatic/Steampunk Roleplay

It is a historic event, though none know if it shall go down in infamy or be seen as the greatest achievement in recent history. World leaders have agreed to one meeting, just one, where they will meet for a single week and discuss issues. There will be posturing and fights but all have agreed for that one week to put down arms and everyone is allowed to speak publicly. There is nothing binding to the meeting, only that all wars were put on pause for the week.

This roleplay is based in an alternate reality from our own. You can make up your own country on the map, and not be bound by any history as we know it today. To get started one nation has agreed to host a world forum, and convinced world leaders to put wars on hold while they attend the meeting. From there we can see where it goes, I only ask you try and keep the races human and nations that sound real (no "Kingdom of Poop"s). Other than that religion, history and most everything else is yours up for grabs. If this takes off I have a big map without national borders we can use to make a world map, and it can change as things happen.

I'd love a volunteer to be cohost of the RP and host of the forum since in my country is a backwater and isolated, and as such wouldn't be hosting this forum.

Oh PS backdoor deals done in PM are allowed, just like RL politics.

Sounds good. I wouldn't mind co-hosting but that depends on what kind of world I think of.

It is all on the planet earth, sorry if I forgot to mention that. But for your country you have pretty much free reign and creative freedom.

Is there a bigger map? Places like Palestine and Gibraltar are difficult to pinpoint there.

I have one on my computer. I just can't seem to upload it onto this site for some reason. I'll have to figure out something. I put a larger one below, Just tell me what provinces you want and I will update my master map and after that I will see if I can't find a way to post it.

Fahrenheit. I think it could add an interesting cultural dynamic, and it would be interesting to see how people in say the middle east view those in the far north.

Areas along the coast though would be cooler though since the ocean cools down the land near it. So countries like what we call England would average 25 degrees warmer temperatures and central areas might average 60+ (Such as the Sahara)

Espiculeas had a great idea so if I get 3 commitments I will post the map once we at least have a rough idea of what the borders will be. I can refine it as time goes on of course.

Well if this continues well I am indeed interested in joining things here. I've even an idea for a secluded defensive country with odd traditions.

On a side note, how steam punk-y are we talking about?

That would be a great place. And since the country is secluded it would be a safe place from extremist attacks.

As for how "steampunky" it is I would say that circuitry exists and has for a while, but it considered a novelty. Instead most modern equipment uses tiny gear work and records data on sheets of metal (like a sim card) using micro-braille. The year for this is 2014, so if you want certain tech just ask. :)

Whatever country has what we call the USA would most likely be an economic powerhouse since coal is still in high use, though alternatives such as nuclear and natural gas are on the rise. Oil is in low demand so by in large it is used only as a lubricant for the mechanical devices that make up the modern world.

On a personal note I wish to ask if any of you are planning on making a (maybe former) colonial power. Since part of my narrative is that my nation was colonized for centuries before we revolted in a dramatic fashion and withdrew into isolation.

i think that i have a similar idea, but without the colonizing part. its going to more of a kingdom, similar to london, but with the monarch having higher authority and actual power. ill get the nation up in a bit.

I may be interested, and I have an idea for a nation of my own, though it wouldn't be one necessarily constrained by geographical boundaries. They'd have a capitol and homeland for sure, but they wouldn't all live there. Inspirations would be something like The Gyptians from Golden Compass or real-life Romani. Sound good for a potential nation? If so, I'll start a CS.

It sounds interesting to be certain. As long as you allow players to determine how the population is handled in their own lands (like France had several gypsy purges and such) I think I could allow it. I can't say for certain though until I see the CS
