Organization: Konohagakure, Konohagakure Jounin, Konohagakure Academy
Clan/Bloodline: Hozuki
Rank: Jounin
Chakra Nature: Water, Acid
Appearance:
Personality: Kirugetsu used to be to his enemies what a butcher is to livestock. He enjoyed his job and was not afraid to get his hands dirty. A cheerful fellow under most circumstances, but he still seems just as comfortable on a battlefield as he does in a restaurant with his allies. This leads many to either distrust him, or want to be good friends with him. He prefers his meals raw, be they vegetables or be they meat. He is not a fan of noodles, as they must be cooked. Bread is alright, though. And he is incredibly proud of his heritage as a Hozuki. Any who insult it is likely in for a boot in the ass. And while this may seem harsh, in the past he would likely have just ripped out a person's lung for insulting his clan.
History: Kirugetsu was once what some in Kirigakure would call a failure. As with many of the Mist Village’s skilled shinobi, Kirugetsu once aspired to join the ranks of the Seven Ninja Swordsmen. However, his skill was centered on Ninjutsu and the use of the Hozuki Hydrification Technique in close-range Taijutsu. Sure, his skill with a blade was significant… but nowhere near what was expected of a member of the Seven Swordsmen. Each day his peers scoffed at him as the “not quite seventh swordsman”. At least, that was how he felt. Truth be told, he was only made fun of very rarely. For the most part, his peers tried to encourage him to improve and try again. But his mind was already set on the matter. He would have no more of their bullshit.
Already being a Jounin of his village, Kirugetsu was clearly not without skill. And he reasoned along the lines that if they didn’t value him in Kirigakure, that he would take his skill elsewhere… along with the blade that he had tried to gain entry into the Seven Swordsmen with. He still went on missions for Kirigakure, biding his time until the right moment. And finally, in a skirmish at the edge of the Island, his chance presented itself.
A group of rebels from Kumogakure to the north, tried in vain to besiege Kirigakure in an attempt to gain the Raikage’s favor. The attack was unsanctioned, and the rebels were to be put to death. Kirugetsu was among those sent to deal with them. Two of the five were moderately skilled lightning shinobi, and the leader of Kirugetsu’s team suggested he hang back.
”Bullshit.” said Kirugetsu.
“I’m not afraid of them.” … the leader shrugged and told Kirugetsu it was ‘his funeral’. His funeral indeed. This was the moment he had been waiting for.
In a heated battle, the Kumo Shinobi were defeated. But Kirugetsu was nowhere to be found. Last anyone saw, he was fighting one of the Lightning-Users out on the open water. Odd that he didn’t fuse with the water in the Demon Fish Transformation. Instead, he engaged the Kumo girl in close combat… almost as if seeking death. Well, his behavior HAD been odd lately. Maybe failing to become one of the Seven Swordsmen had a bigger effect on him than everyone thought. Indeed, the Kumo girl even returned to her country to boast about killing a Hozuki on open water. But the Hozuki she killed was far from dead.
The lightning attack had been incredibly painful, and rendered Kirugetsu unconscious and jelly-like… floating motionless among the currents that surrounded the Water Nation’s main island. After several hours, he awoke. This was all he could have hoped for. He was free of the bastards in Kiri that had mocked him for the past six months. But where to now, he wondered. Kumo wasn’t an option, too many lightning users there. They always made him a bit uncomfortable. Konoha was out of the picture, too. Too peace-loving for his tastes. Iwagakure and Sunagakure were both a BIGTIME no, too dry for his liking.
This left the smaller ninja villages. Kusagakure had a decent water supply, especially near the Blood Prison. But they also had, you know… the Blood Prison. What about Amegakure, he pondered. It was small, ignored, and had plenty of water. Yes. That is where he would go. And so he set off on what would be a hell of a long walk. The trip across water was fast enough, as he simply used his “Exploding Water Shockwave” jutsu, and rode the wave for dozens of miles at a time. The overland trek, however, was not so pleasant. It was summer time, and the heat in the southern Fire Nation was fairly oppressive. Luckily there were plenty of little lakes and streams, which Kirugetsu used to cool off and refresh himself.
On his way, he took a couple short-term jobs in the small towns he came across, including an assassination of a Daimyo's assistant... which lead to the death of the renowned War-Hero and Head of the Hyuga Clan, Hirotaka Hyuga. Barring that standout job, usually this meant working as a bodyguard for someone of little importance but significant wealth. This allowed the man to keep his funds up. After all, Hozuki or not, a man needed to eat now and again. This trend of walking for a few days, stopping and looking for an odd job or two, then resuming travel, continued for nearly six weeks. Finally, the skilled shinobi reached the borders of the Rain Nation. It lived up to its name quite well. For three out of the four days it took him to walk to Amegakure from the border… it rained.
Upon arrival, the Hozuki sought out one of the village’s shinobi. He asked if he could acquire a position among them. Now clearly, he was successful in doing so. HOW he did so is another matter. If asked, Kirugetsu will smile in his usual cheerful manner, and say:
”It’s not complicated really. I mean, back in the day in Kiri, we’d just kill our way to the top. Not like I had to kill a dozen people to do the same here. Luckily for them, right?” He gets mixed reactions to the statement, and enjoys every second of the confusion.
Alas, now he is a Jounin for Amegakure, rather than his native Kirigakure. And thanks to the atmosphere, the plentiful water, and the lack of people mocking his past failure… he couldn’t be happier. He was given a squad and sent on some missions for the village... but then the Jounin Commander of Amegakure showed his true colors and went off the deep end. While Kirugetsu was a former friend of the man's, even HE could not abide by what was done. Using his ability to survive nearly any attack made against him, Kirugetsu quickly escaped with his squad after feigning his death and allowing the prisoner they had been transporting to escape.
Months went by with no end of hostilities in sight. The former Kirigakure, former Amegakure Jounin had trained his team for survival, and even gone so far as to teach them his clan's Hiden, Hydrification, in case they got in over their heads and needed to survive a normally deadly attack. In time, the four made their way into the Land of Fire, where they parted ways. Kirugetsu felt uneasy about the whole thing, really. Parting ways with his former students was tough, but not what bothered him... what he was worried about were the names he kept hearing that were involved with the Usurpation. Among them, a man known as Sai, who seemed to have remarkable power.
Years passed, the one called Sai wrested full control of the land from those he once counted as his allies, and the Resistance grew and grew. Kirugetsu was among their chief agents, as his Hydrification Jutsu, Swordsmanship, and raw strength allowed him to gather information and eliminate any hostiles with extreme prejudice. More often than not, he was sent on assassination missions against high-profile targets such as politicians and the like. However, his work for the resistance left little time to master any new abilities, as he was almost always on the move. And as one of the founding fathers of the Resistance, his survival kept morale high among those who worked to free themselves from Sai's cruel regime.
Not long ago, a desperate assault was made against Sai, and Kirugetsu would not allow it to proceed without directly assisting in the assault. The mighty warrior was drawn back to the lands previously known as Amegakure, where it had all begun over a decade before. He had helped liberate several towns and small villages, but this was to be a battle like no other. The undivided Sai was a monster. He was wiping out many skilled warriors during the final battle, and was pushing those not killed to their limits. Everntually, someone pierced one of the hearts that the tyrant used to extend his life and augment his power.
Several hours and many casualties later, the battle was done. Sai lay defeated. Kirugetsu had even been able to destroy one of the hearts himself before nearly collapsing from exhaustion, the one that once belonged to a member of Konohagakure's Hyuga Clan. Maintaining the Hydrification Technique for an extended period was supremely difficult, after all. But regardless of who killed who, the day was won and the land was one step closer to freedom. Next came what he called "The Purge of the Cursed." However, Kirugetsu chose not to take part in that campaign. He was growing old and his clan was on the brink of extinction. It was time to rebuild what was lost and pass on what he knew, not time to go on another high-risk mission.
For his service and bravery in war, Kirugetsu was not only freed from the large bounty placed on him years ago; but also granted a place among the few shinobi remaining in Konohagakure. An honor that was not lost on the Hozuki, to be sure. He would now resume the role he had abandoned at the start of the reign of Sai... the role of a teacher and mentor to the younger shinobi in his home village.
And so begins a new chapter in the life of Kirugetsu Hozuki... Fugitive, War Hero, and Teacher.

Stolen from Kirigakure, The Hungry Ocean Blade
An already powerful sword of Kirigakure origin, made stronger by piercing the Hyuga heart obtained and controlled by the tyrant known as Sai the Conquerer. Where before, it was able to absorb small amounts of chakra and augment its sharpness and ability to slice through opponents, it is now able to absorb actual elemental properties and use them for attack.
Stage 1: Adopting the fluidic properties of Kirugetsu's Water-nature chakra, or the corrosive properties of his Acid-Nature Kekkei Genkai, the Hungry Ocean can extend the length of its blade slightly or becomes more capable of cutting through objects such as stone or metal, as well as simple barrier techniques.
Stage 2: At this level, The Hungry Ocean can do one of two things. It can either fire off a shockwave of water-element chakra that is concentrated to the point of intense sharpness... or increase the caustic properties of every slash, further augmenting the blade's ability to carve through obstacles and chakra-enforced barriers.
Stage 3: At this stage, the power of the blade actually merges the Acid and Water-element chakra together to form a deadly combination. Whenat this level, the sword is able to fire off shockwaves, as Stage 2, but they are imbued with both chakra natures and greatly enhanced. These attacks can slice through nearly any material, and even through heavy chakra reinforcement and jutsu.
Each stage consumes more chakra than the next, and is indicated by how brightly the blade of the sword glows. Currently, Kirugetsu can maintain Stage one almost indefinitely. Stage two is somewhat draining, and can only be maintained for periods of an hour or less. Stage three is still incredibly taxing and usually only used for single attacks, as maintaining it drains him of a significant portion of chakra in only a minute or two, leaving him weakened and less able to fight.

Special Traits
Immense Strength thanks to Hozuki Hydrification Technique
High Endurance due to the above, except when it comes to Lightning Style Jutsu
Above Average Chakra Pool
Kekkei Genkai: Acid Release
Name of Kekkei Genkai: "Corrosive Style"
Type: Dual Element
Clan: None
Description: The human body is full of corrosive things. Saliva being a simple example and stomach acid being an extreme example. Kirugetsu makes use of this and turns these things into his weapon. By forcing chakra into his stomach or salivary glands, he can create immense amounts of acid and expel it from his body as easily as any other water-style user does so with water. It is a powerful thing, but also does little to discriminate between ally and enemy. If an area attack form of "Corrosive Style" is used, it will generally be as dangerous to friend as it is to foe.
Hiden:
Hydrification TechniqueType: Ninjutsu
Clan: Hozuki
Description: A protean, whole-body technique whereby the user liquefies their entire body at will, making it impossible to receive damage from physical attacks. From a single hair, to the skin and muscles, everything can be liquefied and solidified at will. Be it to evade an enemy's attack during a short-range battle, to infiltrate a structure, or to launch a surprise attack in a liquefied state, this technique boasts a high strategic value. Applying this technique, the user can also modify their body parts for suitable situations. Boasting high strategic value, the only way to contain a user of this technique is to lock them up in an airtight container so they cannot move about. When the user passes out, they turn into a jelly-like state. Since this technique turns the body into water, the Hōzuki are extremely vulnerable to Lightning Release techniques.

Custom Jutsu
Name of Technique: Corrosive Style: Butcher's Bile
Type of Jutsu: Offensive, Ninjutsu
Rank: B-Rank
Range: Short
Nature Type: Acid
Handseals: None
Description: Kirugetsu forces Chakra into his stomach and forms a large amount of stomach acid. This chakra-imbued acid is then forcibly exuded from the mouth at any one attacker within 3 meters. The enhanced acid is incredibly caustic, and capable of dissolving flesh from bone in under thirty seconds if not washed away. Even if washed away, it will likely leave very painful burns.
Weakness: Pitifully short range, Can be washed off before major damage occurs
Name of Technique: Corrosive Style: Acidic Pulse
Type of Jutsu: Offensive, Ninjutsu
Rank: A-Rank
Range: Short to Medium
Nature Type: Acid
Handseals: None
Description: Kirugetsu makes the same hand shape as with the Hozuki-Style Water Gun, but the projectile takes on a sickly green color. It can be fired as a single attack, which is fairly accurate and powerful. It may also be used as a barrage of multiple shots, to ensure a hit or flush a foe from hiding. Each shot is forceful enough to crack stone with relative ease, and packs a powerful acid that is capable of melting through organic and inorganic material. Inorganic substances take longer to corrode, however.
Weakness: Used as a barrage, the shots are not likely deadly... and cause little more than an intense but brief pain and a small burn mark around the wound. Much like a Senbon coated in a weak acid.
Name of Technique: Corrosive Style: Demon Rain
Type of Jutsu: Offensive, Ninjutsu
Rank: A-Rank
Range: Medium ( 50m Radius Around Kirugetsu )
Nature Type: Acid
Handseals: Ram -> Rat -> Tiger -> Horse
Description: Kirugetsu spews a massive amount of Chakra-enhanced acid into the sky above. This acid fuses with or creates a cloud above him, and then begins to rain down upon the battlefield. A single drop is far from deadly, doing the same damage as a barrage shot from his "Acidic Pulse" jutsu. But the rain is fairly heavy, at around 300 drops per square meter per minute. The damage this can cause in a mass battle is enormous in scale. The only respite is a small ( 3m ) area surrounding Kirugetsu, in which no rain falls. The "Eye of the Storm", in all reality.
Weakness: Immense Chakra cost, Harms allies as easily as enemies, "Eye of the Storm" Area
