"They are moving on." The housekeeper acknowledged. But they aren't dealing with it. I have been in charge of this orphanage a long time. I know what helps and what doesn't. I am not trying to make fun of anyone or make anyone feel bad. But alot of you come here and hide from the past. Some," she said looking at Melissa. "Are trying to make amends without dealing with the past. You can't do that. I'm not asking you to act out your whole history here. I am asking you to pick one person from your past to tell us about."
Keegan sighs and scratches the back of his head. "Mel, by all means, give your own opinion. I can't speak for ya." He says, looking at her, since the Housekeeper was referring to her.
Melissa closes her eyes for a few moments and takes a few deep breaths. "What Keegan is trying to say is: Why try to make amends when there's nothing to fix? I'm content with my past, if that's what happened then I can accept that, but the past is the past, and reminding everyone about it only brings back tears that were lost long ago." She pauses to look at Keegan, giving him a smile, and then turns to the rest of the children at the Orphanage. "This place will have its own history in our hearts - a place where we can all create new, happy memories, together, somewhat like a family - and we'll never forget it. Just like how many of us won't forget what's happened oh so long ago. As with Keegan, I don't mind playing my part, as we still had rays of light that overthrew the darkness. But others' might not have a person they can recreate simply. Also, this seems rather hypocritical coming from a woman who hasn't shared any of her history whatsoever. I expect you'll be doing this activity too?"
