Why or how did everyone decide to choose their account name?

For example:

I choose mine because several years ago. I had to make an account for a game Spore) that I started playing. So I thought Explorer would be a cool account name. But at the time I didn't really know how to spell it and wasn't in the mood to look through the dictionary for it. So I just went with what I thought was how you spelled it, I typed out Expolar, and entered it. It took me a few weeks to realize I spelled it wrong, but I liked it enough that I decided to use it for most of my account names that I had to create.

Zarkun is actually a character name for me, though it's actually Zar'kun for the character. Since then, it's just something that I've taken a liking to.

My answer to that is simple: I had to make an account for SCII. Birthstone was already taken. I was too lazy to come up with a new one. Though, I am using Zzyriphian more often now, which is the demonym of someone from a particular city planet/nation I made up, in the denizen's home language. (Zzyriphia (Place), Zzyriphian (Person or thing from said place), translations, Zykira and Zykiren)

[Lugubrious]

'Lugubrious' means 'looking or sounding sad and dismal'. While still somewhat fitting, I chose it originally because I thought it meant 'slow'; it was my online name for my Wii U account, and the first online game I played was Sonic Racing, so I figured it would be pretty funny for someone named 'slow' to beat loads of people at racing. I got that word from Disney's Hercules, at the point where one of Hade's minions refers to him as 'your Lugubriousness'. I guess I just thought that it meant slow because of how the word sounded itself.

Mines also a character name. I have a new one I wish I had regestered when the site reset. Citrus Arms. It's a Kamen Rider Gaim reference.
