I only remember I was told that they mother was so fricken stubborn, she wouldn't go to the do tour even though she was in labor for like... Two days. Until my grandmother went 'Well I'm not cleaning up the mess!'

Then doctors over drugged her and she was practically asleep. It still hurt, but she was pretty sleepy. Doctors had to keep waking her up to push.

Yes but why risk serious injury from the needle if the doctor does it wrong? I would take the knife.@Silver Fox

To my knowledge, epidurals and similar anesthetics don't make the lady in question sleepy, just numb. But I suppose the occasional person might have an adverse reaction. Still, if it's a legal treatment, then it's rather like flying in an airplane: the results of a crash could be catastrophic, but the chance of a crash is so low that the service itself is utterly commonplace.

Still, the fact that many more people die to doctors per year than to guns is an acceptable justification.

But hey, I can say from experience that there's at least defense training against knives.
