She opened her mouth to retort, ready to say that as long as she didn’t die than this person he was going after was going to be fine but it was cut short by the shouts of the men entering the room. Her heart jumped as she turned around to find Captain jumping in front of her and using that massive shield of his to block the bullets. Sharon too the blockage as a chance to fire with sniper-like accuracy. For the sake of the gun, she didn’t fire multiple times but took her time aiming and shooting. When he shouted to her to start stepping back she nodded as a response not once taking her eyes off of her targets as she began to step back further and further.
It wasn’t hard for Sharon to follow instructions. Her Aunt had taught her a lot about Captain America and the things it took to be agent so she was very good at taking directions; especially by someone she had such respect for like him. Firing, she covered him until he got to his shield. As he crotched she caught a glimpse of the man behind the mask and her heart nearly exploded from her chest in shock. Holy shit holy shit holy shit! I’VE BEEN BABYSITTING CAPTAIN AMERICA!!! Oh my god…. I KISSED MY AUNT’S LOVE! Have you ever had an inner conflict where you honestly didn’t know what to think or how to feel? Well best bet is that yours wasn’t half as bad as hers. She was hurt because she had no idea who she was living next to and would have loved to have that information. She was ashamed because she didn’t know how her aunt would react to something like this and she was majorly pissed off that Nick Fury didn’t tell her. Oh that man, that man, THAT MAN WAS GOING TO GET A PIECE OF HER MIND!
When she found that the men had ran out of bullets themselves she took off to track down the canister. It wasn’t long before she kicked open enough doors to find where they had put it. God this group was kind of dumb. Shrugging to herself she threw the canister into her bag and grabbed a second and third gun and a few loaded clips. She turned the corner from the room seeing Steve, yes Steve dressed in the Captain America outfit that was actually his, rounding the corner as well. In a swift motion she tossed him one of the new guns she had acquired and dueled up with the other two fully loaded and ready to go. The two started to run before coming to the end of a hallway with no way out. Before anything could be said, something started against the wall, a loud humming noise before the melt framework began to melt away. “What the…”
CRASH The melt square that was cut out fell inward nearly hitting the two, “Sorry about that, I can’t see through metal.” An arrogant coy voice said through a metal suite as swarms of S.H.I.E.L.D. agents few through the whole. “Agent 13, what a pleasant surprise, and Captain; always chasing after the pretty ones. Funny I didn’t know you liked blondes.”
This wasn’t good. She couldn’t stick around for long; it could blow her cover if she was exposed to the light instead of the dim light of the warehouse. “Mister Stark, can I take you up on that lift offer to get me back to headquarters. Director Fury needs this canister.” There wasn’t a hint of hesitation from her statement and Iron Man slipping his arm securely around her waist and taking off towards the sky. A yell of “Thank you Captain!” could be heard from the blonde over the jet powered nearly silent boots of Iron Man before he zoomed off with the blonde in his arm.
“So about that date…”
“No, I just needed a ride.”
“Come on Sharon, you know something’s there.”
“Something is a term I would never use again. You promised me a flight whenever I asked and I’m taking you up on it…”
“Oh I could take you on more than a flight if you’d let me.”
“I know you’re used to your smooth-talking to work but it’s not Stark just get me to Fury’s office, he’s going to have a taste of my boot up his ass.”
“Oh really? Now that sounds worth the flight, I’d like to watch.”
The blonde just rolled her eyes and Tony continued on asking her about the possibility of taking her out on a date; and as you can imagine he was met with retorts that he just laughed off and asked her in a different way.
Returning to S.H.I.E.L.D. Sharon stormed into Nick’s office, Tony hot on her heels ready to hear what was going down, unfortunately for him, the door shut and locked behind her as she kicked it shut with her foot and in a Tony-Like fashion he huffed and placed himself against the wall next to the door crossing his arms over his chest and staring down at his expensive running shoes.
“Captain America?! You had me babysitting Captain America?! When were you going to tell me?!” She shouted as she slammed the canister down on his desk.
“I don’t see why it’s an issue.”
“Excuse me?!” She snapped, probably for the first time in her life of knowing Nick Fury. “He was the love of my Aunt’s life, she was happy with her husband; sure but no one replaced Steve Rogers in her life. And now you’re wanting me to be the one to watch over him are you kidding me?!”
“I don’t see why it’s an issue, your aunt would want him to be happy and for you to be happy. Besides you’re just neighbors right…” Nick, of course, drug out the word right; urging her to agree with him in hopes that nothing was going on between the two. Because that would… complicate things.
Sharon stayed quiet for a moment, unsure of how to respond to that. If there wasn’t anything going on between them and there wouldn’t be any issues but there was, at least in her mind. “I’d like to cash in one of the ‘you owe me’ favors Nick.” This interested Fury to the point that he crossed his arms on top of his desk and leaned forward. She called him by his first name, something she never does and she’s cashing in one of the few ‘you owe me’ favors Nick ever gives out. Sure she holds about three but this was worth one of them. “I want your permission to tell him who I am.”
“Give up your cover?”
“Yes.”
“What do you think will happen?”
“We won’t know until we cross that bridge but I would like to, and I’d prefer to be the one to tell him.”
Nick stared up at her with his good eye for quite a while before hanging his head in a sense of defeat. After a minute of silence and the blonde staring him down he looked up from the table at her. “Fine.”
That was enough of an answer for Sharon as she left Fury’s office with a sense of victory. Stepping out the door she was caught by Tony who met in step with her poking and prodding her with questions about she talked to Fury about. Sharon actually stayed silent through the whole thing until she got outside. “Look I’m not saying anything Tony, sorry but it doesn’t concern you.”
“Then you’ll just have to tell me over dinner some time.”
All Sharon could do was roll her eyes as she flagged down a taxi. “Is that a yes than?” He asked as she shut the door and told the driver to take her home. With that Tony walked back inside the building heading straight for Director Fury’s office.
Sharon had the cab stop off at a local clothing store where she ran in and bought a pair of jeans and a goofy looking long sleeved shirt and a new set of glasses before climbing back into the cab as she put her hair up in a new hair tie and got back into the cab. Arriving home she let out a long sigh and climbed the stairs to her apartment where she unlocked the door and let herself inside. Shutting the door behind her she threw her bag onto her couch and chose to take a shower to get the grim of the day off. This, this could be a tough night.
