I almost posted something in a spam thread regarding people that use certain pictures for their avatars on forum and how their personality almost always seem to be the exact same across the board. It's like a collective consciousness of people...(usually smug pricks.) But it really does reach a certain scary territory where I start being able to tell exactly how a person will likely behave just seeing their avatar. I digress.
I've honestly never gotten to that point in actual role-playing pictures and I'm not envious of that. ;P

In my experience, that would be code for "He's an asshole but the player expects you to find him charming to spare their feelings."
One thing I see on this site, and it's more a peave than anything. They use shades of grey or other colours that blend so well with background you almost need to highlight text to read it.
Most of the standard greys, there fine, easily read. I like the style of thr muted grey, it can look very nice done right, and with some creative flair and contrast colours. Do you need properly it's nice.
But a few colours, just look at your post and realise. Maybe it's a good idea to make it more readable.
Maybe just use a few tones up, no need to use bright yellow.

One dude I know consistently uses blue foreground text and a slightly darker/brighter blue for dialogue. It makes my eyes bleed. Consistently.
Gah. That's makes my eyes bleed thinking about it.
Nope... Just nope.
what can we do really?
Force our own subjective aesthetics on everyone that joins our RPs.

Yeah, I definitely have been considering adding a formatting rule to my stock RP expectations list due to stuff like that. But you know, aesthetics are 100% subjective, so what can we do really?
I actually don’t mind gray text all that much. The only reason it irks me sometimes is I can be a bit ornery when things aren’t all uniform. I get more upset when people don’t use the enter button to break up their lines properly or incessantly indent every single sentence.

f you can't tell exactly how a person will behave from an anime avatar, it was most likely picked at complete random. I know if I'm playing a stuck up spoiled rich girl and my anime pic doesn't ooze arrogance and an aura of "don't talk to me, peasant" then I keep looking.
I think going in with the presumption that everyone [regardless of their avatar or interests] is an inept teenager online is ideal in general.
