People are born mutants, they don't come into contact with something and become mutants out of the blue. And I don't think I need to mention this is regular Marvel and not Ultimate, if it were Ultimate most of the X-Men would already be dead [I blame poor writing and shock value kills].
I honestly had my fill of symbiotes in one of my last Spiderman themed games. I usually had Spiderman getting cloned or his powers becoming some kind of accident giving dozens of people in NYC Spiderman powers, just not all of them. I think I capped it at 3. Anyway, long story short, at least half the CS's people PM'ed me had them trying to convince me a symbiote [not just any, but theirs specifically] would be better for them story wise and that they needed added symbiote powers to be able to tell a story. Like the ability to stick to walls, shoot organic webbing, or toss a car like some skinnier version of the Hulk wasn't enough to work with....
