I'm serious; I really don't care if it's used or not. It was confusing to me because we've been on the presence system for a year, which has just as many flaws (e.g. asking OOC where a character is located), but it's not worth putting a marking next to every single post. That's ludicrous.

Exactly. With it, someone can ask where someone is IC instead of OOC. My only qualm was with potential eavesdropping by characters who would abuse it, or for us players using it as a reason for chars to know information that said chars shouldn't have a reason to know.

Here's a different idea, then: if someone is speaking with a set of characters that are in a different area, you can put the markings to say "this person is separate." So Ruby would put them on, but Violet, Techi, and Meredy wouldn't need to. The markings don't even need to be consistently placed, just every now and then so that everybody knows.

There needs to be consistency. The initial concept was to assume the character was where they said they were until otherwise stated, but Ruby jumped in and made it sound like she was there.

I don't think we'd do that, but we could always bring back the ().

I feel like those two concerns could be covered by the whole "privacy" thing. If you really want to, it can be easily said using action symbols that a conversation is private if it's not immediately obvious.

Wouldn't that still canonically be able to be heard by humans? But that doesnt matter anyways, because I don't think we'd do it either- intentionally. It could very well be info that we put in the back of our minds because we read it, then use it later on when it's relevant because it was said and we didn't remember that it was private.

Eh. I'm getting the impression that it won't be adopted very well at all.

To be honest, it could, but from an unbiased standpoint, I really don't see it being used in any situation other than "Where are you?"

Not what I'm referring to, but it doesn't matter.

When did Ruby get there?

This is proof we need signers. Just overhauling it is too much constant work for us as rpers. Especially after two years of getting used to location based.
We could use greentext for it even. That would be a single extra character.

It's not worth it, but if everyone's going to get confused over it, I don't want to implement it.

Because you never replied to my last post with Phoebe, so I had her protect Spectre instead.

That's all I was concerned about, confusion. Because I know I'd get confused all the time and I don't want everyone else confused because of my confusion. In my mind, it'd not take away the ooc explanations, it'd just changed them from "where are they" to "where are they and was my response okay."

Eh. There just has to be a more efficient way than what we're doing.

But Ruby was with Soren fighting--I never said that Ruby had come over.

But it won't be confusing, and it will be efficient if we just add a single character, or even two, to our posts to indicate that we are in a different area than the conversation we're taking part in. A slash. A hashtag. A percent sign. Anything. And then all of the problems that we indicated other than the privacy one just flitter away.

I'm aware.

You just called it a "hashtag." The concept has officially died to me.
