A Shadow, imo, is more than a few lines. It's stuff you want to hide away from others. Stuff that you might be aware of but don't want to accept on a conscious degree. Especially in public, where the secrets you want to hide are spilled. It's why people deny so much. It takes the willingness to shoulder the consequences that the reveal will bring to truly accept the truth.

Basically, this is a struggle inherent to one's character. Can yours personally face the truth in front of others and be ready to handle the fact that their inner self is now known by the public?

The thing is that the only thing that's really like that for Midori is, well... she's obsessed with Akemi and she is willing to hurt people if she thinks they're threatening her, but she also knows that already but it can't just be a couple lines of her just saying... "Well, yeah, pretty much."

And if I go for her shadow being an extreme exaggeration that might take too long.

Well, from what I've grasped, I think that a bigger issue could be that she'd be admitting it in front of four other people, all of which probably are acquainted, if they don't personally know, Akemi. I don't actually know if Midori cares about that, since she's not my character, but that's just an idea.

It's a question of anything that the character would honestly be uncomfortable admitting about themselves, yet also that they are prepared to accept at this point in time. When you have a relatively uncomplicated character like Midori, I imagine it's hard to think of something.

This is kind of the issue I'm having. ^^; Midori's issues really lie in, well... I don't know, stuff that's obvious? It's not really a secret that she has terrible social skills and she would absolutely admit that she is pretty obsessive over Akemi regardless of who is around her. The biggest secrets she keeps are... well, the stash of Akemi pictures she has I guess.

This is why I was originally thinking of making her shadow very exaggerated so Midori is genuinely freaked out by it, but that would take way too long to get through with how this is set up.

You could make the shadow blackmail Midori with this? Like, reveal the fact and then exaggerate it.

Well, maybe? But it's more like how... she doesn't want anyone to see them because they're only for her then she doesn't want anyone to know they exist, I guess. If that makes any sense.

If it still works that might be a start though.
