Yeah, soren- you have a good start to a character; but all of us are year one (11 years old) and your background is very dark and depressing; which hey- you can totally do; but yours is like way too dark upon dark. I get where you were going with it- Harry Potter-esque background of a shit family that doesn't want your character to leave so other measures have to be taken- but i'd die it down a lot into something more realistic, and more fitting. I have no idea about the wand or what not- but the age and the back story is gonna bite ya! ^_^

Ah I see!

Would that be something he could attain later perchance or is it so rare that it is unlikely that combination would exist? I'm just curious really because when I decided on my wand, it was kind of just a shot in the dark because I really have limited knowledge of the subject.

Is Basilisk Venom even something that can be used in wandmaking in canon?

Considering the only known basilisk is the once sealed in the Chamber of Secrets (Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them claims that none have been seen in Britain for 400 years; although Harry put "That's what you think" as a margin scribble) and responds to exactly one person.

It's doubtful - it has no real magical qualities other than it can destroy Horcruxes and poison people. I think it'd be far too volatile in the delicate creation of wand-making. Even for cores, the most 'hardcore' things used are Dragon Heartstrings, and Thestral tail-hairs (Which, as far as I know, is for the Elder Wand only.)

Maybe ya'll can help Soren by listing some available wand ideas/combos instead of just throwing them under the bus. I could have very well done the same thing since I have no idea what a lot of the ingredients are or what they used for- and I know I would have appreciated a kind and helping hand.

Drop everything about my character. As you can see above it is no longer there. I told the gm that it was made for a different rp but I wanted her opinion on some things. The venom thing is not cannon yes I know this. It was made for a future timeline in which I could be used. Now as far as the wand goes don't worry. Thank misscapncrunch for your words.

I do think that the "reviews" of Soren's character were super harsh. I know it's a very passionate fandom, but he didn't come in here to fuck everything up. He just wanted to make a character and made a few mistakes. It's really not that serious...

I can't imagine how shitty it feels to read some of the replies from his perspective.
