This OOC is a WIP. I have class and cannot finish it at the moment, but I wanted to give everyone a place to meet up ☺

Welcome to another year at Hogwarts! If you’re a first year, refer to your letter for instructions on what you will need and what is expected of you from the school. If you’re not a first year, you should have gotten your supply list, by now (provided your owl isn’t intercepted by a plane, or a tasty treat). Please refer to the list, and arrive promptly at Kings Cross Station to board your train. Students will not be permitted to leave the castle (except to visit Hogsmeade – 3rd year and above), so all supplies should be bought and brought along with you.
This year, we are allowing all students the chance to own the pet of their choice. Students will be allowed various animals from various families. Examples include: Ferrets, Owls, Cats, Rats, Toads, Newts, Iguanas, and approved birds (please send an owl with your request to be approved).
Quidditch tryouts are to be held on the second day of classes, after all students are settled in. Please remember – first year students are not allowed to bring a broom along with them, nor are they allowed to try out for the teams. However, if you are truly interested in joining your house team, and are a first year, feel free to attend try outs and to make connections with the current players.
Welcome to the most amazing RP EVER! This is a post Potter RP, in which I expect mass quantities of collaboration and cooperation to decide on villains, problems, drama, and other aspects.
Go ahead and post character sheets. Be realistic with your abilities and try to stay within the decent realm of wand strengths. Pets are almost all accepted, but make sure that you put in your character sheet that you are requesting approval if I haven’t already told you your pet was okay.
Accepted characters:
Name: Amelia Hawkins
Age: 29
Year: First Year as a Professor for Potions.
Gender: Female House: A Graduate from the house of Ravenclaw
Magical Heritage: A mother who was a witch, and a father who was a muggle.
Backstory: As a child, her mother had always told her that she was gifted. Though in the eyes of those who classified themselves as normal, she was quite peculiar. From her youth, she found that more than anything, she possessed an affinity for books. Having spent the majority of her life in her father's study surrounded by knowledge beyond her wildest dreams, thanks to the affluent wealth of her family, there was not really ever a struggle she had to partake in from her younger years. In fact, some might say, (even she) that she was rather coddled by an overprotective mother and father alike. All that changed however, with her eleventh year of life, and she received a letter from Hogwarts. Instantly immersing herself in the knowledge and study of magic, she found that above most things, she held a preference for two subjects in particular. Potions and Herbology, for drawing out the latent power that herbs and plants seemed to hold so secretively drew her raptured attention. While receiving good marks in all of her other subjects, never once were any of the former below an Excellent or an Outstanding. Graduation from Hogwarts went smoothly, receiving both extraordinarily commendable marks and even recommendations from her former potions Professor to work at Diagon Alley in some of the most prestigious practices that lined such a marketplace. And there, until her late twenties, she worked quite contentedly until the former professor retired. And who, did he think was best to replace him? His old treasured apprentice, of which she naturally took up the challenge more than happily. After all, it is her duty he surmised, that she pass on her excellence to younger generations. Personality: Coy, cunning, and witty, sometimes the other faculty occasionally has the difficulty of understanding if she is serious or not. Despite that however, she truly cares for her students and fellow compatriots alike; even sometimes going out of her way to offer a potion or two to help focus the studies of others to insure that they pass, or graduate. Time to time, she can be rebellious, but that is only when she believes the cause she's defending is truly worth it, both her time and wits.
Wand: Redwood with Unicorn Hair, eleven inches.
Personal items and pets: She possesses a pet in the form of a small arctic fox, named Felix. Ironically, he can be oft found lounging lazily about her neck, and very much asleep. In terms of personal items, she also has a Potion Master's kit, of which is filled with an amazing array of pre-prepared herbs and solutions.
Special Gifts and Abilities: Voiceless Casting - like many of the professors, she is quite adept at NOT announcing her intentions via the use of voiceless spellcasting. Patronus - Her patronus is in he shape of a larger spiritual Fox, nothing too complex about this. Potions Master - Within her mind is an almost encyclopedic knowledge base of potions that she can make. That aside, she still uses references since sometimes on rare sequences, she is prone to mistakes.
Name: Mark Crane
Age: 30
Year: Teacher, 1st year
Gender: Male
House: Was in Ravenclaw until he quit
Magical Heritage: Mudblood
Backstory/Personality: When he was a child, every time he got too angry things around him started to move. At first they just vibrated or spun, but as he got older the items got bigger and moved faster. His parents, believing he must be possessed by a demon, took him to their pastor to get rid of the demon, but, though it would go away for a few days out of fear, it always came back. Because of this he didn't have any friends, so he spent his time reading and studying, sneaking other books, including comic books, when his parents made him do "bible study".
When he was ten his 22 year old cousin, Philip, came home to visit from where work had transferred him, in London, and brought his pregnant wife, Violet. When he left he had a proposal for Mark's parents: let them take Mark with them back to England. Because they were afraid of Mark, Mark's parents let him go, relieved to get rid of the "devil child" that had ruined their lives.
About a week after he arrived in England he saw Violet's wooden "hairpin" lying on the table during one of his tantrums and picked it up, only to cause a blue flash of light that threw him backward. After that they had no choice but to tell him about the magical world. Once he had learned to not knock himself down when using Philip's wand, an old one of Violet's, they took him to Daigon alley to get his own wand, as he would be sent to Hogwarts in a few months and they wanted him to study before he went there so he wouldn't be too far behind. After a few months at school, he realized that, while his wand excelled at charms and healing spells, it was practically worthless at curses, jinxes, and the like.
When he was a Junior he used his knowledge of Wandlore to make his own second wand. Though it wasn't of very good quality, it was three times better at jinxes and curses than his other wand.
School was boring, so when he turned 18 he apporated to London and, after getting his GED (or the Brittish equiviilant), to New York to go to tech school. After he got his RN license, he returned to London and got a job as an assistant healer at a clinic in Diagon alley. He finished his studies with his aunt who was authorized to teach remedial magic, and when he finished he applied for a job at Hogworts and got one teaching Charms, as well as one advanced class, medical charms, which is only open to students in the last two years of school..
He studies situations to look for weaknesses. Prefers the study of theory to the practice of actual spells.
Wand: First: Ten and one half inches, Unicorn hair core, Cherry wood; Second: Ten inches, Kelpie hair, Oak
Personal items and pets: His Patronus, a Wolf, is treated like a pet. He keeps it summoned most of the time and it follows him around.
Special Gifts and Abilities: Healing, Charms, Protection, Levitation. He can move small objects (up to a kilogram or two) without a wand.
Name: Remington Black
Age: 15 (5th year)
Gender: Male
House: Ravenclaw
Magical Heritage: Half-Blood
Quidditch position: Chaser
Personality: Remington is a typical pubescent boy. He likes to chase girls, and in return, he slacks on his studies, at times. He's a quidditch fanatic, however, and dreams of playing professionally some day. Who needs to know potions and things of that nature, when you're going to fly on a broom for the rest of your life? He has been in detention more times than he can count, and over time has found that it can be fun, especially when assigned to help Hagrid with his duties at night. Remington's only true passion, besides quidditch is taking care of his little sister, Ava. She's out there in her own world, and he's seen the looks that people give her on a daily basis. They look at her like she's dangerous, and with the sorting hat nearly putting her in Slytherin, he had his worries. However, she couldn't hurt a fly - and wouldn't if she could. As long as he can keep her on the straight and narrow, he's done his job.
Assets: 12 inch hawthorne wand with a phoenix feather core, and a Great Horned Owl named Marx.
Special Gifts and Abilities: He's charismatic and good with the ladies, changing girlfriends like he changes socks. He's a good flyer, and a viciously passionate quidditch chaser. He's almost worry free, like Ava, but not as whimsical. Nothing really gets to him, unless she's sad.
Name: Ava Black
Age: 11
Gender: Female
House: Ravenclaw
Magical Heritage: Half-Blood
Quidditch position: Seeker (but not yet)
Personality: Ava is very whimsical in nature. She sees the good in everything and everyone, and sometimes can be found attempting to converse with animals and other magical beings. She's good with owls. They seem to want to sit next to her after delivering their mail for a bit of a scratch and a small conversation. Ava is passionate about magic, and wants to learn everything she can. It has made her seem a bit off to herself, to most people, and for that, she is sorry. However, when she's a great witch (or teacher), no one will make fun of her any longer.
[ b]Assets:[/b] 11 inch english oak wand with a phoenix feather core, and her screech owl: Rainy.
Special Gifts and Abilities: She's gifted with animals, talking to them in between classes as if they're old friends. Who knows if they can actually understand her? Either way, they make her feel like she belongs. She's an amazing flyer - possibly setting her up to play Quidditch. Because she's whimsical, she doesn't get stressed out at all, and is a great listener to her fellow students. Though, she may be staring off over your shoulder at an invisible creature that only she can see (make believe creatures).
Name: Roy Archer
Age: 15
Year: 5
Gender: Male
House: Ravenclaw
Magical Heritage: Half-blood
Backstory/Personality: Roy was born to a witch mother and Muggle father. He was the fourth of five boys. While he felt his older brothers' accomplishments overshadowed him, they felt he was very spoiled and an attention hog. Both were somewhat true. It was around the time that he was seven that he managed to find something to make him stand out on his own. His talent for arts showed itself in his classes at his Muggle school. His father was so excited to have one of his sons be talented in something he could understand (as much as he did love the idea of Quidditch), he encouraged Roy to become the best artist he could be. His mother spurred him on by charming some of his better artwork into moving and talking, just like their photographs and paintings. Eventually, it came time to go to Hogwarts, and Roy couldn't be more excited to make his parents as proud as his brothers. At his sorting, he was instantly put into Ravenclaw due to his active mind and vivid imagination. His classes were simple enough. Everything seemed relatively straightforward, though potions was some trouble. However, he excelled in Transfiguration. He made plenty of friends, though plenty of students were put off by his perceived arrogance. In third year he tried out for the Quidditch team, hoping to join his brother but failed spectacularly. He doesn't like to talk about it ("Football's more fun anyway"). He's put his energy elsewhere, his art and duelling. Though he is not exactly a top-tier duellist, his duels are entertaining if nothing else. Roy's mind is always working. He likes to think in different ways, approaching ideas from several angles. He tends to comprehend and visualize more abstract concepts better than many people. Because of this he is a skilled artist as well as talented at Transfiguration. This also means that his mind tends to wander. Left alone with his own thoughts, he could ignore the rest of the world for hours. He generally has people around to bring him back down. When he's interacting with people, he's generally friendly. However he's used to drawing attention and can be pretty arrogant and boastful. Growing up with four brothers ensures he's made of some tougher stuff. He's never aggressive, but he knows how to take an insult and physically hold his own. That's good, because his tendency to flirt with whatever pretty girl he sees has put him in a few predicaments with angry boyfriends.
Wand: Hornbeam and Unicorn Hair, 12 1/4 inches
Personal items and pets: A small moleskin pouch. He and his brother share an owl. A black-banded owl named Fletch
Special Gifts and Abilities: He's got a good brain in his head and he knows how to use it. Transfiguration comes naturally to him, and with some extra study he's honed it with finesse and precision. He's a talented artist, in most mediums though he prefers drawing and painting.
Name: Toby Griffin Webster
Age: 11
Year: First
Gender: Male
House: Ravenclaw
Magical Heritage: First in the family to have wizarding powers. (Muggle born)
Backstory/Personality: It all really started when Toby turned two, all sorts of unexplainable things would just seem to 'happen'. His parents 32 year old Colton Webster a videogame designer and mother, 30 year old graphic artist Becky Webster were rightly perplexed. They would be walking with Toby and all of a sudden the tot would be holding some kind of candy or be petting a kitten. It wasn't until they caught and watched Toby the little rascal making his food (spinach) disappear that they realized that this boy was special. Being the rare breed of parent they were the two decided that Toby would not be treated any differently and they would allow him to decide how he wanted his future to go. The future was decided when Toby found out that he could -if he believed and concentrated hard enough- make anything happen! Instead of trying to abuse this Toby instead sat down and started trying to control it, to keep it from controlling his emotions. He was very successful, other than the skill he had Toby grew up as any other British boy would. He enjoyed sports playing rugby and football mostly, but he also loved anything to do with getting his brain active. As he grew older Toby found that he had a problem learning, or for better explanation he didn't learn things the way others could. For Toby he had to take everything in and formulate everything himself. This meant that it took a long time, sometimes even weeks to totally learn something. However, once he did learn it he never forgot it. Almost like a photographic memory of things he thoroughly picked apart and put back together. Toby is also a very caring person and constantly sticks up for the guys getting bullied in school which of course meant he came home with a lot of bloody shirts.
Wand: Supple 11 inch, Cedar, with Ashwinder Ash core. This wand was in the very back of the wand makers shop when Toby went to buy his gear. The shopkeeper said that it was a somewhat rare core.
Personal items and pets: A black and white spotted kitten named Castiel that his parents gave him.
Special Gifts and Abilities: Toby is very adept at defensive magic, including other white magic like a patronus and the such. He also takes a long time to finally get a spell 'down' sometimes even taking a month. But when he gets it down he can perform it very well.
Name:
David Saint-Vincent
Age:
15
Year:
Fifth
Gender:
Male
House:
Ravenclaw
Magical Heritage:
Pure Blood
Backstory/Personality:
David was born and raised in Brittany, France, in the small port village of Auray in the quarter of St-Goustan. It is said that his family, the Saint-Vincents, were among the original founders of Auray and perhaps Brittany itself, and that they escorted Benjamin Franklin to his visit with Louis XVI when he landed at Port St-Goustan by accident, though the history books might officially tell another story. His upbringing in Auray was peaceful and picturesque, though this image was sometimes infringed upon by David's many experiments. Once, when he was only 5, he managed to get ahold of his parents potion ingredients and infused a raven with the gift of song, or rather, the gift of singing one particular song, The Striking Adventures of Lanny Flynn the Little Witch," which coincidentally was the title of his favorite book. The song itself is said to be one of the most annoying ballads in all of musical genealogy and some forlorn wizards have actually tried erasing it from existence through various unsuccessful magical endeavors. The singing Raven plagued the town for months until David's father was finally able to capture the wayward fowl and charm it into silence. Little David was aghast at the idea of getting rid of the bird and thus Singer became his permanent friend. Every now and then, the Raven starts to sing and must be silenced by placing ones hand on its beak.
The various experiments and eccentric plots continued throughout his childhood. His mother, a Ravenclaw, understood the eccentricities of her son. His father, a Gryffindor himself, didn't always understand his son, but loved him nonetheless. When David received his letter to Hogwarts and was sorted into Ravenclaw and not Gryffindor, his parents were neither surprised nor disappointed. His father would have liked for his son to be in Gryffindor like him, but he had fallen in love with a Ravenclaw and so Ravenclaw couldn't be a bad thing.
Throughout his first years at Hogwarts, David shunned potions, a sad affair since his professor recognized Davids aptitude for the craft, and instead focused on different types of magics. He liked runes, and learning magics that revealed truths and secrets. His ongoing project is to develop Fillius Flying Flees, he's still working on the name, which would be small magical constructs that could spread out in all directions, gather various tidbits of information such as what people were doing and, perhaps more importantly, what was going to be had for dinner. He feels that he is close to a break through, the latest Fillius Flying Flee construct lasted all of two whole seconds and let him know that it was cold outside. David mused that, while being told that it is cold outside when you are outside in said cold might not be very helpful, it was a very good indicator of his progress.
Because of his Ravenclaw nature of being eccentric and "odd," he can sometimes tend to persist as a recluse. Not anti-social per say, but preferring the comfort of his books and experiments to the constant upkeep required when indulging in such trifles as social conversation. He is mostly kind, though defensive when it comes to personal questions and can be very secretive. He has no qualms about refusing to speak to someone and often ignores people he doesn't like.

Name: Gary Shinawatra
Age: 17
Year: 7
Gender: Male
House: Ravenclaw
Magical Heritage: Half-blood, but Muggle-raised. Wizard Father, Muggle Mother.
Appearance: At the 17 years old, Gary is a fit, brown-eyed young adult. He pays a reasonable amount of attention to his black hair. His skin is slightly darker than Vincent's, but his eyes are less slanted, coming from his father's side.
Backstory/Personality: Gary was born to a Thai Muggle and a British Wizard, who divorced two to three years after his birth. Oddly enough, Gary ended up taking his mother's last name after the divorce. His father is a weatherman for the channel 8 news and only visits him on his birthday. His father also enjoys traveling and buying things as he travels, such as wands. Unfortunately, his father doesn't research much about the different properties of wands, so the quality of wands he gets seem to be random.
Vincent lives with his mother in a more suburban area of England, in a decent house. His mother works as an accountant for a major bank. In his suburban neighborhood, he was moderately educated, though pushed to his limits in academics by his mother. He tends to suffer from stress, anxiety, loss of hope, and an odd feeling that if he didn't do as good as he did in school, his mother wouldn't love him. At times, he feels as if his worth is based on his deeds and works hard to prove himself worthy of love. At other times, he scavenges every shred of love he can find, taking up a bunch of easy tasks and meeting new people, trying to impress them and putting away hard work. Because of this, he had a small emotional problem and quite a few incidents that take away from his chances of becoming Head Boy or a prefect.
Despite his father having impregnated two women and leaving them to fend off for their children alone, Vincent's mother and Gary's mother are good friends, so Gary is quite close to his younger half-brother Vincent, as to quit the formalities of calling each other "half-" brother, and just to call each other brothers. Perhaps it's because they never got the displeasure of living in the same home. In fact, he knows how much his younger half-brother admires him, so he's willing to do anything for Vincent.
He speaks English and a bit of Thai, altered due to being in born in Britain and mixed with slang. He is not a big fan of sports, as his parents also tended to be unathletic and clumsy, so he won't take much part in Quidditch and the like. Aside from his unathleticism, he tries to work out from time to time for a body he can show.
Wand: -- Nine-inch black inflexible Kaya wand. Krasue entrail core.
(A Krasue entrail core is a rather exotic core that comes from Asia, particularly southeast Asia. This core gives it a faint smell of vinegar. This core is typically used by dark wizards, and like dragon heartstrings, are quite strong. It's not too good with potions, but a skilled potion-maker could easily bypass that disadvantage. Considering its properties, it might be a weaker substitute for an acromantula web core wand, but of course, not so powerful as to give access to the Imperius curse. Due to the torturous creature it comes from, it gives a mild boost to jinxes, hexes, and curses. It also makes the user more greedy and lustful.)
Personal items and pets: A rooster he named "Foghorn Leghorn" off of the Looney Tunes cartoon. It makes a very annoying crow in the morning.
Special Gifts and Abilities:
Gary is very intelligent. He would excel in subjects such as potions and arithmancy. He also has a talent in jinxes, hexes, and curses, not that he would ever use these unless he was encouraged and prompted to. On the other hand, his quest for self-worth gets in the way of his progress. He's okay with a broom, as he eventually learned a little of how to use it through practice and repetition, but not as good as Quidditch players.
He knows a little violin.
Name: Cleo Bones
Age: 17
Year: 7th year
Gender: Female
House: RavenClaw
Magical Heritage: Born into a mixed family. (half-Blood)
Appearance:
Backstory/Personality:
Cleo always has to start something new, at the very least be number one at it. She pushed herself beyond normal limits as if to compensate for her lack of pure blood. It always is nice to show up those preppy perfect kids. Through out her life Cleo was always naturally smart and she used it to help her excel in magic.
The day that she finally got to go to Hogwarts was the best day of her life. Finally she could be taught how to use the magic that had been all around her growing up. And she would be the best at it, Determined to explore the world of magic Cleo felt split between the land of the mortals and magicians. But what if it didn't have to be that way, it was modern day, right? Anything was possible so why not just put them together. With that brilliant idea Cleo finally knew what she would focus on for the rest of her life. A life of modernization for the magic world.
Wand: Blackthorn wood with a dragon heartstring core
Personal items and pets: Black and white owl named Snowball
Special Gifts and Abilities: Cleo is very good at using magic through real world objects. Much like the Weasly brothers she wants to create her own shop after she graduates from school, though less gaggy. Her inventions are more practical, bringing magic to the new world. Through the internet. Of course this idea is still a work in progress and she plans to make it only accessible for wizards. If spots are still available she is on the quidditch team, maybe the head captain.
Name: Phelix Farrow PhD
Age: 60
Year: Teacher, Professor of Astronomy/Astrology, and Muggle Studies.
Gender: Male
House: Hufflepuff (Perhaps head of the house? This will give him a reason to be more involved in the students who are not in his classes.)
Magical Heritage: Pure Blood
Backstory/Personality: Phelix was born to a wealthy pure blooded family. They had high expectations for their eldest son... Who seems to have obtained all the recessive genes. Phelix was always small, a bit clumsy, and a bit... squibbish! He had three younger brothers who were all handsome and magically talented. Their parents quickly focused their attention on the other children. Despite all his obvious shortcomings, Phelix was highly intelligent, a fact he caught onto quite quickly. He outwit his parents on a regular basis. They were simple to understand, their goals and motives plain: They all wanted to be pretty, and pure blooded, and powerful, and respected. Phelix knew from a young age that he would never obtain any of these things, so he found that if he gave his family what they wanted he could find other rewards for himself. Things changed when he left his home for Hogwarts. Instead of Slytherine that blasted hat placed him in Hufflepuff! Away from his family and friends, their influence mattered less and less... and Phelix found himself despite himself. He dropped out of Hogwarts halfway through his OWLs, a decision that was a result of accumulating stress, poor grades (he really was terrible at magic, the ONLY thing he was any good at was Astronomy and Divination), and dissatisfaction with his family and the role they expected him to take. He applied to a muggle university, exchanged all his money for muggle currency, and left the wizard world for the muggle one. He hoped that he could find a place where no one would judge him by his blood or his ability to use magic. (His family of course disowned him) He excelled, and eared his PhD In Astronomy, and was a respected member of the scientific community for many many years. He kept on dabbling in Astronomy quietly. None of his companions ever took Astrology seriously, but sometimes at parties after a few drinks he would ask others for their 'sign' and everyone had much fun as Phelix would guess and predict things about strangers he might never know! After the party if anyone asked he would say 'I don't know, I was drunk, lucky guess!' Things went pretty well, until one year his grant money was denied and his telescope project was unfunded and he was forced to abandon it. Phelix was discouraged... but he had something else in the back of his mind, something quite different. He imagined that one could gain a deeper understanding of Wizards Astrology with the muggles perspective of Astronomy, and perhaps vice-versa. He worked on a paper in his spare time on the matter, which turned into a book. A book which he could NEVER publish through muggle means or for a muggle audience. So, he did what he thought he would never do, and returned to the Wizards. He was laughed out of the office of every Wizard publishing house, journal, and newspaper in England. Except the Quibbler. He started an Astrology column under an alias 'just for fun', but kept it up for twenty years. In the muggle world he found new jobs and prospects that went rather well, but always had time to publish his Quibbler Column. His column was actually very good! When Hogwarts needed emergency coverage for their Divination and Astronomy class, someone from the Quibbler passed on his real name and information to the headmaster. He was invited for an interview. Then he was made to re-take his OWLS and 'test through' his final years as a courtesy, and was hired first as an adjunct professor, then given full time a few years later. That was 10 years ago. Phelix has made a happy home at Hogwarts. He often ventures into the muggle world, and is notorious for bringing back tons of the latest muggle gadgets and media for all to enjoy.
Wand: He does not use it much, but has a wand of Fir, core of bear tooth.
Personal items and pets: Telescope, smart phone, i-pod, i-pad, x-box... etc.
Special Gifts and Abilities: Highly educated, PhD, talents in Divination.
Age: 13
Year: 3rd year
Gender: Female
House: Hufflepuff
Magical Heritage: Half-blood, magical mother and Muggle father
Personality: Ever since coming to Hogwarts, Rhea has thrown herself into a world of magic with a mixture of enthusiasm and anxiety. She tries her best to pay attention in classes, though being the energetic and nervous sort, she finds it difficult to sit still and keep her focus on the task and hand. She tends to notice small details or noises that others don't, like a little fly buzzing around the class room or a flicker of light, and get distracted by these small things quite easily. She just seems to notice and over-analyse every little thing, and this can sometimes cause her a lot of worry and distress, often leaving her with anxious and wary expression most of the time. Still, she's generally polite and tries her best to get along with others, often trying to be a friend to all and peace-keeper during arguments as she hates conflict. She tries her best to please everyone during a tough situation, which can make her seem like a wallflower and give the impression that she doesn't have many opinions of her own. She DOES in fact have opinions, she just doesn't want to come off a nuisance by voicing them and often prefers to let others make decisions for her. However, during her time at Hogwarts, she's gained a slight amount of confidence and a healthy amount of curiosity for the wizarding world she is now a part of.
Backstory: Before coming to Hogwarts, Rhea's life was unremarkable. Normal school, mostly normal family, her father and brother both being muggles. Her mother, however, was an eccentric witch who constantly talked about her time at Hogwarts and how they were the golden days of her youth, often seeming wistful at times that she gave it up to become a housewife. When Rhea showed signs of magical ability, her mother was over the moon and pressured her daughter into going to wizarding school. Rhea was slightly sceptical. While she had love her mother's stories of magic when she was a child, she wanted to go to the same secondary school as all her muggle friends, and was upset when her mother seemed oblivious to this. After her first year at Hogwarts, she's adapted and let most of her bitterness go, though has been pretty distant around her fellow students, possibly feeling they can't replace her friends and fearing to get close to them. Instead, she spends most of her time talking to Ash, her slightly mischievous owl, and often pretends he can talk back, putting on a silly high-pitched voice for Ash.
Wand: 11 inch holly wand with unicorn hair core
Personal items and pets: A barn owl names Ash
Special Gifts and Abilities: Rhea has yet to excel at anything, simply demonstrating a decent amount of competency in all her subjects. Well, except for herbology and history, both of which she finds dull and uninteresting. As someone who enjoys cooking, her passion is mostly for potions, though she's not exactly "good" at it. She has a tendency to be experimental when mixing potions, usually resulting in her experiments blowing up in her face, and her potions teacher keeps reminding her to "stick to the recipe". She's looking forward to third year and the new classes she'll be able to take this year, namely the classes on Divination and Magical Creatures.
Name: Richard "Richie" Corbeaux
Age: 12 (second year)
Gender: Male
House: Hufflepuff
Magical Heritage: Pure-blood
Personality: Richie's a nervous kid. He's as awkward as you'd imagine most eleven year old boys are and he's doing what he can to try and fit in. His family is originally from France, but his grandparents moved to England before his parents were born. He doesn't from money, but his family isn't poor; they get by reasonably well on his father's wages as a court clerk for the Department of Magical Law Enforcement. He's got a couple of younger siblings, and his passions include watching/playing quidditch around his village whenever he gets the chance and spending time with his mates. He's not a genius, but he does well in school.
Assets: 10 inch Oak wand with a dragon heart string core.
Special Gifts and Abilities: Decent flyer, determined, and passable French he learned from his dad/grandparents (determined not to go full English).
(Assume his hair is messier)
Name: Vincent Pradchaphet
Age: 11
Year: 1st Year
Gender: Male
House: Hufflepuff
Magical Heritage: Half-blood, but Muggle-raised. Wizard Father, Muggle Mother.
Appearance: At the age of 11, Vincent just seems to be a scrawny-looking, brown-eyed boy, with no apparent muscular build (His muscles will fill out throughout the story). He doesn't tend much to his black hair, which gives him sort of a messy look, but turns out well in the end. His skin is slightly darker and yellower than the others and his eyes a bit more slanted from his muggle side, which comes from Thailand.
Biography/Personality: Vincent was born to a Thai Muggle and a British Wizard, who soon divorced after their pregnancy was known. Vincent took on his mother's last name because of the divorce. His father is a weatherman for the channel 8 news and only visits him on his birthday. His father also enjoys traveling and buying things as he travels, such as wands.
Vincent lives with his mother near the Chinatown of London, in a moderately decent apartment. His mother works as the sales clerk of her own clothing store. There, he was moderately educated and he grew in a very kind and loving environment, which helped him to become a kind and generous young boy with a typically cheerful disposition. On the other hand, his feelings are easily hurt.
Despite his father having impregnated two women and leaving them to fend off for their children alone, Vincent's mother and Gary's mother are good friends, so Vincent is quite close to his older half-brother Gary, as to quit the formalities of calling each other "half-" brother, and just to call each other brothers. Perhaps it's because they never got the displeasure of living in the same home. Vincent actually looks up to Gary with admiration.
He speaks English and a bit of Thai, altered due to being in born in Britain and mixed with slang. He is not a big fan of sports, as his parents also tended to be unathletic and clumsy, so he won't take much part in Quidditch and the like.
Wand:
-- Twelve-inch brown Kaya wand. Swishy. Qilin heartstring. (A hand-me down from his half-brother when his half-brother couldn't use it anymore.)
(A Qilin heartstring core wand comes from Asia. It can only be used with benevolent and wise wizards, making it extremely rare for Slytherins to use. It is most commonly used by Hufflepuffs. It cannot be used by Dark Wizards. It makes the wand lighter in weight. It's particularly good for charms and potions, particularly healing and healing spells. It also provides a small boost in transfiguration. Like the creatures they come from, when a pure person is threatened by a malicious person, the wand could cause mischief to the malicious person. The wand also brings the user good luck)
Personal Items and Pets: None, but may take care of his half-brother's pet rooster from time-to-time.
Special Gifts and Abilities:
Vincent would be able to excel in all the subjects he desires to excel in, particularly potions, charms, and healing spells. He's typically intelligent, but he would go out of his way and even sacrifice his studies to help others, thus his Hufflepuff house compared to Ravenclaw. He has no skill with a broom.
Name: Kyle McCarthy
Age: 32
Gender: Male
House: Slytherin
Magical Heritage: Pure blood
Backstory/Personality: Kyle was a second year the year the Battle of Hogwarts took place. He was taken to safety, but he knew people who died. Despite his family's love of the Dark arts and even his father being a Death Eater. Kyle became an Auror for several years before a spell hit him. He wasn't apparently hurt for the long term, but he has lost his taste for the job. He applied for the DADA position at Hogwarts two years after that.
Wand: Rowen, 11 2/5, stiff, thestral hair
Personal items and pets: His collection of anti-dark magic and detectors (not as extensive as Moody's collection was)
Special Gifts and Abilities: He is an animagus taking the form of panther (same as his patronus)
Name: Chase Everwood
Age: 11
Year: First
Gender: Male
House: Slytherin
Magical Heritage: Pureblood
Backstory/Personality: Chase was born to a pureblood and very muggle racist family. As with a lot of slytherin students, he is cunning, smart, sly, and quick with spells that other first years would probably not even try. He's obsessed with the dark arts, but in no way does he want to become a dark wizard. He just wants to make friends and possibly meet a few celebrities (the Potters and Weasleys - who his father says are all scum of the earth and should be taken down a few notches). First, he has to survive sorting (which we already know the answer to).
His brain points to Slytherin. His heart points to Gryffindor. Without fighting his brain…he was sorted into the first house the sorting hat could think of, following his lineage, and intelligence.
Wand: 11 1/2 inch Birch with a Phoenix feather core
Personal items and pets: He carries a book with clippings that he has collected, recycling old Daily Prophets and finding them around the house. The clippings are all related to Lord Voldemorte and the days of the death eaters reign, before the battle of Hogwarts. He also has a black cat named Lucius that follows him around, like a best friend.
Special Gifts and Abilities: Chase loves the dark arts as an art form, and although he's a very sweet boy, he becomes obsessed and can converse for hours on different people who have been killed using some of the darker curses, or different drafts that can be used in dark ways, and examples of times when they came in handy.
Don't be surprised if your daily conversation with him changes from that of the weather to that of the work of the men in his books.
Name: Syler Martin Everwood
Age: 13
Year: Third
Gender: Male
House: Slytherin
Magical Heritage/History-Personality: Pure-blood to the very bone Syler has been raised to hate muggle borns and to make sure everyone else knows it. As a child Syler showed early the signs of a Slytherin. Cold cunning, calculations, ambition, and huge drive to succeed no matter what. The boy started practicing the wand movements and incantations of spells separately trying to get an edge in his classes.
When it came time for his to go to Hogwarts Syler tried to cheer his brother up by promising to teach him the spells he would learn at school, and possibly even write some good notes down about the first year classes. During sorting, the hat barely touched his head when the talking sorting hat screamed "SLYTHERIN!" Syler excelled in his new house noted by the teachers as a bright, easy learning boy who did whatever it took to do great at whatever assignment they were doing. After the first year Syler went home and as promised spent almost the entire holiday with his brother. If anyone in the world could get him to actually relax it was Chase. His second year was spent at least in his head on the quidditch pitch. Syler tried out for and was granted a place on the team as Chaser and like everything else he strove to be the best he could.
Now it's his third year, but most importantly, his little brother will be joining him this time. And Syler can not wait. A few areas that needs improvement as far as classes go is definitely potions, AND anything other than DADA, Charms, and Transfiguration.
Wand: Cypress wood, 12 inches, Manticore Stinger core (heirloom wand), reasonably springy
Personal items and pets: Pet hawk named Shruikan.
Special Gifts and Abilities: A very strong user of offensive magic and dueling. Syler is a force on the dueling team that can never be underestimated.
Name: Emma Snow
Age: 11 (1st year)
Gender: Female
House: Slytherin
Magical Heritage: Muggleborn
Backstory/Personality:
With a famous movie star for a father and a sought after lawyer for a mother, Emma Snow hadn't the most normal of childhoods. She grew up in the spotlight, around paparazzi and journalists who couldn't wait to ruin her parent's reputation. Sure, she never wanted for anything, but having to feign diligence and modesty when all you wanted to do was pull a prank on the silly paparazzo who thought he was hiding in the bushes was hard work. She might have preferred being poor and left to her own devices (nah, not really, but the sentiment is there). It's almost funny how none of that mattered, though. Because at the end of the day, she was magical, and in the magical world, her parents were only another pair of muggles and nothing more.
Eleven years of living in scrutiny did have its perks though, as did living with parents who were essentially professional liars for a living. Emma learned to deal with people early on, and she figured out how to get want she wants. Charming and genial, there's no one she can't win over after a conversation; or at the very least, she would have certainly left an impression by then. It didn't matter if it was a good or bad one, as long as she's left her mark. Even though she seems like a typical childish eleven-year-old at first blush, she actually listens rather well and always seems to know how to respond. She uses her youth to her advantage and hides behind an air of innocence and playfulness to lower guards and expectations. It has come to her attention that many are quick to forgive a naïve child anything, especially one who takes up flattery like a second language, and so she doesn't mind playing up the saccharine sweetness if it benefits her. However, unlike one would expect, Emma doesn't particularly mind if her true, more devious nature is found out. That doesn't mean she stops her cutesy act around them, though; to her, the only difference is that those people are now aware that there's actually a mischievous core hidden underneath the sunshine-y exterior she displays.
Long story short, Emma is someone who does as she pleases. She sees a bright future ahead of her, although the crucial details are still blurry right now, and she is willing to do whatever it takes to obtain it. Just like her parents, she wants to become renowned one day, in both the wizarding and muggle world. She isn't particularly interested in academics, but she is incredibly competitive and she works hard in her classes if only so she could beat someone (especially a prideful Ravenclaw) to the top. Any sort of competition is often the best way to motivate her, and she unwittingly falls for it every time.
Personal Items and Pets:
- A silver digital watch that has connected stars for a strap. A gift from her parents that she treasures.
- Wand: 9 inch, springy ebony with a dragon hearstring core.
- Pet: A munchkin cat called His Highness Montgomery (or Monty)
Special Gifts and Abilities: Perceptive and a keen listener, she learns best by listening and watching others. She has excellent echoic memory; although she may struggle if the information is written, if she hears it or has someone explain it to her, she will comprehend and memorize it very easily. Emma's got a nice singing voice and is also fairly engaging for someone so young; she tends to get away with a lot.
Names: Astrid and Terra Reese
Age: 11
Year: 1st
Gender: Female
House: Astrid is Gryffindor and Terra is Hufflepuff
Magical Heritage: Muggle raised (but their mom was a witch)
Backstory/Personality: Astrid and Terra are identical twins, but do have fairly different personalities. Astrid is determined and willful, a Gryffindor through and through. Terra isn't as headstrong as her sister, and is shy. She prefers the back row of the class and a good fanciful book. Their mother disappeared when they were three and since they found out about Hogwarts, they started to wonder if their mom was of witch heritage. Their father, already disturbed from an incident in his youth and his wife's disappearance has barely spoken a word to the girls since they got their letter.
Wand: Astrid's wand: Ash, Dragon heartstring, stiff, 10 inches Terra's wand: Willow, phoenix feather, wispy, 9 3/4 inches
Personal items and pets: They share and owl
Special Gifts and Abilities: If they are within a mile of each other they can sense each others feelings, and location. Terra is great with plants and had already been thinking of becoming a botanist before coming to Hogwarts.
Name: Jeff Roberts
Age: 17
Year: Seventh
Gender: Male
House: Gryffindor (Head Boy)
Magical Heritage: Pure-blood
Personality: Jeff is a popular student and this is mostly due to his personality. He is as affable as anyone you will ever meet and this is largely due to him being a genuinely nice person. He's friends with all of the older students and he's helpful to all of the younger students. His professors see him as a model pupil and example that all should follow. He was prefect in both his fifth and sixth year and nobody was surprised when he was appointed Head Boy. His charm is something that he gets from his father, who is a career politician and holds the British seat on the International Confederation of Wizards. His mother is a beautiful socialite. Between the two of them, Jeff gets his most important trait: ambition.
Being good looking, young, and talented, no one doubts that Jeff will be a fast riser once he leaves Hogwarts, but the perception everyone else has of him is far more limited than that of his own perception. His ambition isn't a dark one though. He's been strongly against the traditional governmental structure that has ruled Britain, and many other countries for centuries. He wants to root out the corruption that has run rampant through the magical government for years. In Jeff's mind, the only way to accomplish such a feat involves making major political gains.
Assets: His wand. Eleven and a half inches of holly wood with a unicorn hair core. He owns a large barn owl named John.
Special Gifts and Abilities: Highly intelligent. Make great marks in all of his classes. Talented with practical magic, having been part of the dueling club for a few years before his responsibilities as a prefect forced him to quit. He's okay on a broom, but he'd prefer not to if possible. Bar none though, his best gift is his charisma, which few people can resist.
Name: Caitlin Jones
Age: 15 (5th year)
Gender: Female
House: Gryffindor
Magical Heritage: Pureblood
Quidditch Position: Chaser
Backstory/Personality:
If it weren't for the undeniable fact that she is indeed human, one could easily believe that Caitlin is a wild animal. It might have something to do with living in the wilderness with her magizoologist mother most of life (up until her first year in Hogwarts, to be more exact). She had a father at some point, but she never knew him and her mother keeps changing her story about his whereabouts. Her favorite was that he was a werewolf who's currently living in some secluded woods to protect his family. Caitlin grew up to be a purely instinctive creature, relying mainly on intuitions and quick reflexes to get by, as she learned to do from the many magical creatures she has come across. Her impulses drive her, and she spends little to no time thinking anything through. She believes that unnecessary pondering only hinders one's actions (after all, wasting even a mere second is enough for the predator to devour you), and has thus subscribed to a 'do now, think later' sort of mindset. It doesn't matter if her actions yield consequences—she can always deal with it later—as long as she accomplishes what she sets out to do. Caitlin is also very straightforward and blunt, unwittingly tactless in that her words hold no malice but are still otherwise hurtful. She sees no point in sugarcoating the truth or spreading white lies to spare feelings; as far as she's concerned, honesty is really the only way to avoid any complications. Even now, she's renowned for her brutal honesty, but those who have come to know her have gotten used to it.
Among strangers, Caitlin is wary and constantly on guard, immediately on the offensive at even the slightest provocation. She tends to be more hot-blooded toward those she's more unfamiliar with, and is wont to openly show when she dislikes someone. Among friends, she is incredibly protective and affectionate. Once Caitlin considers someone a friend, her loyalty remains with them forever. She will do anything for them, even if it means putting herself in danger. Her years in Hogwarts have made her slightly more civilized (emphasis on slightly), and she's less socially awkward than before, but she still has many a misstep and continues to learn every day.
Personal Items and Pets:
- A necklace with a feather from a Jobberknoll enclosed in a small vial.
- Wand: 11 inch, inflexible Sequoia with a Hippogriff feather core.
- Pet: Rhapsody, a Jobberknoll (the fledgling of her previous pet and the owner of the feather in her necklace) who is rather nosy.
Special Gifts and Abilities: She has quick reflexes and pretty good intuition; while she constantly struggles with school, she possess above-par athleticism born from years in the wilderness. Caitlin is thus understandably most at home outdoors, climbing trees and strolling through forests or walking barefoot in the fields. Her best subject is Transfiguration and she shows great potential as an animagus.
