Hah. I see the King has about as much interest in Kir-Kon as anyone else in his life :P As in, none :P

Pretty much. At least at this point. Then again, Kir-Kon could be almost anything, except perhaps a rare steak, and it wouldn't earn his interest.

Hey. Do I have permission to control Kir-Kon? There's a specific type of... ritual, I guess, I know for approaching wild animals, and I've known people who used it to touch a wild deer before. It seems very applicable for the moment, but I wanted to ask first.

Hey. I'm not entirely sure where to go from there, because... Kir-Kon didn't really do anything. The King isn't really interested in moving right now, and the plot dictates that he not... well, maim Kir-Kon. I'm not sure what else there is for him to do.

I had no idea where to go. You stopped at a point without letting me know if the king was going to respond or not. It stopped with him noticing he's being touched. . . .And then nothing. If you're telling me now that he doesn't PLAN on responding, that's different :P Then I can add on to my post, and I will ask, would he object over much to having the ropes pulled off carefully? The way you stopped it I thought you had a plan or something, sorry :P

Oops. Sorry. I guess we are both at fault here. I guess I kinda just stopped it there because I didn't know how much liberty I had with controlling Kir-Kon. But it is kinda the same from your side.

I can go ahead and write up a post with Kir-Kon taking off the ropes. Might as well, now that I also know I have permission.

I can add it to my post, I just needed to know he'd let me :P Just let me know if he'll complain at all so I can respond to his reactions, then you can have your post of the other side of the rope removal and whatever else your guy will do. And yeah, we both did kinda flop there :P

Yeah, he would ultimately let Kir-Kon. At some point he'd probably snap, but wouldn't actually bite Kir-Kon. More because the ward stops it than because he doesn't want to hurt the kid, but it is far enough out that he could fight through the ward at this point.

So... we should probably pick a direction at this point. I mean, we can keep them just kind of going forward, but I think we should make a more specific goal. Maybe?

Well, I know the mid term goal at this point is to begin traveling the world, or at least get away from the village. In the short term a peace/understanding between our two characters. In the initial idea he becomes kinda a pet for a while before they head out, but the king doesn't know what they is so I'm not sure how he would view it should Kir-Kon take up that role in the eyes of the other humans. . .We can change it a bit, but I would like to see the king in the village with Kir-Kon a bit before they leave, and maybe have him start understanding speech a bit before they head out. . . Do you wanna go to the long term? I recall requesting that the beast have a human form, so maybe we can come up with some idea as to what brings that on. . . .I don't wanna plan too much ahead though, or too specific, but I would love to hear your thoughts.

Hmmm... There's a lot in there, so I'll start with the easy part.

The reason I gave the King a shapeshifting ability, rather than just sticking with the elemental abilities of the Pack, was more than just to give him the intelligence needed to begin his quest. His symbolic journey into enlightenment is going to be mirrored by a developing understanding of his ability to shapeshift. A human form will be midway through his "journey", because he will understand it well enough to recognize that his form is mostly at his whim, but he'll believe that being in a human form would somehow help him understand the world better, rather than recognizing that he had to come to his own terms with his new understandings. At least, that would be the reason he changed at first. Staying in that form would probably have a lot more to do with Kir-Kon.

Haha.. I kinda forgot about the "pet" part. I guess it kinda depends on what we mean by pet. If he is a pet simply for the fact that he gets pet a lot, then I see no reason that he would have a problem with it. If it means he is expected to do Kir-Kon's work for him, which I'm not expecting but it has to be mentioned, then it probably won't go over so well. But before any of that can really happen he needs to get smaller again, I think. Otherwise the villagers wouldn't really let him in, whether he was with Kir-Kon or not. And that may take a little while. But I don't think it would be a bad idea to have Kir-Kon and his relationship take a little bit longer. The King is used to being leader of the pack, it'll take a bit of time for him to accept being an equal. He's got to stop seeing Kir-Kon as a pup first.

I guess I'm also trying to figure out a reason to keep the King close to the village until he and Kir-Kon have a reason to bond. He's kind of realized that trying to get to the center of the ward is a bad idea, and he's not one to stay still for very long.

Hmm... Kir-Kon's got injuries on him, right? If the King sees him as a pup right now, he'd be inclined to protect the pup. And his feelers would certainly find the wounds.

I love the idea behind the shape shifting, so we should go with that :P

As for the pet thoughts, it's mostly in the stays by Kir-Kon, shares his food, gets pet, played, and talk to a lot, as well as being defended if/when the village kids try to tease him. Kir-Kon may care very little for the quality of his own life, but once the king is in it, he will not let the beast's life be a bad one as far as he can help it.

I can think of a few things, maybe, that would interest the king to stay for a bit. There's always the standard of food, and if Kir-Kon comes back out later in the day to see the beast he's likely to bring some. With as smart as the king already is he should be able to recognize that there's something very different about this meat, but since Kir-Kon is eating it, it's not poison. Maybe perk his curiosity? Maybe later on have them walking together and king can "observe" the pup paying attention to tracks and stuff using his own "feelers" to give him a sense that they maybe have some basic aspects in common. I think the main point, other than worrying over Kir-Kon's injuries, would be somewhere around feeding his curiosity, seeing something that lets him know that Kir-Kon is a thinking beast like himself and maybe when the king shows curiosity, Kir-Kon would start figuring that out too and begin deliberately teaching the beast when and what he can. Just a thought :P

I think, and this one is more in your court so it's only a thought, he would possibly shrink down a bit after getting comfortable with my guy.

If Kir-Kon comes out a second time and finds the beast again, he would start going out whenever he is free to see what else he can learn about the beast, and maybe the king could start looking forward to how different the pup is to the pups he's sired.

Kir-Kon has the gash on his leg, a few still healing wounds that no longer require bandaging, the bruise across his back from the fall, and a scrape on his hand from when he grabbed the edge of the loft for to save himself a neck breaking. And this is not to mention all the scarring. Nothing to big or disfiguring, but lotsa little ones. . .

Thoughts?

That all sounds reasonable, in terms of reasons for the King to stay. I'll probably piecemeal it as it matches up well with the posts.

As far as shrinking down... It isn't so much a matter of comfort as it is that the King is stuck right now. He's never consciously shapeshifted before, and, up until the villagers tried to grab him, it has been so gradual as to be unnoticed. It's going to take him a bit of time, and maybe getting stuck on/in something, before he can return to a more natural size.

I think I've got enough to write the post at this point. Now all I need is the time...

*Suddenly imagines the king trying to crawl through a log and getting stuck with his back legs still outside of it* *Giggles* Poor thing. I can see that though :P Makes sense :P

Glad I made some sense there, and I wish you time and energy! *Pours on all I can spare* Hope it helps!
