Ben nods as he stands up and says, "No kidding. You mentioned that this was your dad's fault. How so?"

Kalinda read for a while. Kalinda was a natural performer. She would never admit this to anyone, but she had once dreamed of being a famous guitar player, until a year ago.

So she didn't find it too difficult to read aloud.

"You are a good storyteller." Griffin commented. He wasn't sure he understood the whole story, but he enjoyed listening to the adventure of the young hobit.

Kalinda shrugged, "I'm just reading the story" she said

"You do not give yourself enough credit. Zack has tried to read me stories and he is not nearly as good as you are. Anyone can read the words written, but not everyone can bring the words to life." Griffin agrued. He didn't understand why she did not give herself enough credit.

Normally she would show images from her mind but she was going to have to stick with words. "The item that transformed me shouldn't exist. It was part of a war that killed many on my planet and lead to the wilderness becoming wild and savage. It's a form of genetic manipulation to create a perfect soldier. But the people that underwent the process were unstable, aggressive, and went insane. After the war its use was banned. If it's here now, then I know why my kingdom was attacked. It's because my father renewed its use. And now it has me in its grip."

After Anthony finishes breading and frying the steaks, he grills several thick slices of provolone cheese and toasts some bread in a skillet. He replies to Sue, "It's ready, I just need to pack it up." He puts the rest of the food in a basket and asks, "Do you drink wine? If you don't, there are other options."

As Anthony cooked the food, Sue breathed in to take in the delicious aroma of the cuisine. So Southern American, so exotic, so foreign, so… damn!

I’ve never tried wine, and why are you packing? she signed to him, with a face so confused by the notion that food had to be packed in a basket.

Anthony glances at Sue with an eyebrow raised and signs, "We're having a picnic, remember? I'll bring one bottle of wine so you can try it, but do you want me to bring anything else to drink?" While waiting for an answer, Anthony grabs a bottle of Noemia Malbec wine from his wine cooler.

Ben frowns as he asks, "Is there any way to undo its effects? And how will this affect the way you interact with us?"

Anthony glances at Sue with an eyebrow raised and signs, "We're having a picnic, remember? I'll bring one bottle of wine so you can try it, but do you want me to bring anything else to drink?" While waiting for an answer, Anthony grabs a bottle of Noemia Malbec wine from his wine cooler.

”Oh. I’m sorry… I’m just really hungry and I get cranky if I don’t eat in the first few seconds. I haven’t been congenial or lady-like at all. I’m sorry.”

She walked to and looked through the kitchen fridge to see what she could get and she founded a fresh new jug of orange juice. What seemed like chocolate, she snuck into her pocket.

After popping off the cap and taking a might swig of her citrus liquid gold, she signed, struggling with her one hand holding the jug, ”I’ll have this! Now let’s go, let’s go!”

She shakes her head. "It was designed specifically to prevent its undoing. It's been such a long time since its use I don't know what all it will do to me. You've already changed the normal process by giving me speech."

Anthony laughs, "As you wish." He puts some plates, utensils, and glasses in the basket, then says, "De cette façon, madame." He leads Sue to the top of the hill that houses his lab and begins to set up the picnic.

Ben tilts his head and asks, "I'm a pretty friendly person, will that counteract the programming at all? Like maybe by making you less aggressive?"

"Not everyone loves reading like I do" kalinda said softly, "whats the point of doing something if you do it halfway and thats it?"

"I guess the point would be to get it done. Sometimes we do things because we must. "Griffin looked at Kalinda. He studied her carefully. He had never paid much attention to the people around them. There had never been a reason to. He cataloged people into two groups, friendly and unfriendly. Kalinda was definitaly a friendly, but she was also something more.

Shrugging lightly it was clear she didn't know much more about it. "Without knowing what it was scanning for it's hard to say what of you it gave to me. And it destroyed itself to prevent anyone else from getting their hands on it."

The walk to the top of the hill was dark but the stars illuminated the path just enough for the two to see where not to step. It was a clear hill with no shrubbery or forestry. The moon was a way’s yonder but it still looked massive with the clear dark, sequenced sky.

Sue watched as Anthony settled down the blanket and basket and laid out the make-shift eating area for them to talk and consume. Under the moonlight much of Anthony’s features were dimmed but she could still make out the dark shadows of his eyes and the colours of irises. She knelt down onto the blanket and waved to catch his attention:

”So, scrub: tell me more about yourself. Be as open as the navy blue sky.” she concluded the sentence looking up briefly at the night.

The last time she’d truly seen such a beautiful scene was during one of her camping trips with another boy. He faired against her quite well, but ultimately she decided that she was far too excited and involved with life to be stuck in one place. She’d seen a vision and she wanted to pursue it.

But now that vision was lost, and a new one in its place, all blurry and jumbled, and Sue couldn’t help but feel lost. That was the point of making friends in the Academy. And perhaps… Anthony was more than just being a gentleman. If he wanted to succeed in having Sue be with her, she needed to see way more than kindness and compliments, no matter how much Anthony had exposed himself.

Ben nods slowly then replies, "Alright then. I want to continue being your friend, but you must know something. If you hurt anyone that doesn't deserve it, you'll have to answer to me." He yawns, then says, "I'm going to go to bed. Good night."

Anthony lights two lanterns and sets them at the edge of the clearing to provide a little more light without detracting from the beauty of the stars. He pours Sue a glass of the wine before answering, "I've never been overly proficient in just telling about myself. I'll tell you a little about my life before the Academy, but if you'd like to know anything else, you'll have to ask." Anthony makes Sue a plate of food as he continues, "My mother died shortly after I was born, so my father handled most of the decisions concerning my upbringing. He ensured that I received top of the line education with an emphasis of the major empires and societies of history. Along with learning a great deal of world history, I was taught to the benefit of being multilingual, so I taught myself the Romance languages. I graduated from Yale at the age of eighteen with a Doctor of Psychology degree. After that, I spent a year in various South American countries, especially Argentina, simply enjoying the vastly different cultures. For the next two years I built a real estate business, along with various other business ventures." He begins to eat some of the appetizers that he had made for Sue earlier while waiting for the questions to begin.

The mask shut, and Connor had Ignot pull up a map to follow, before gently taking Kijani in his armoured arms. It was a lot different carry someone who was awake. He had to be conscious of the fact that she could actually hold on, and move accordingly so as not to accidentky trap a hand or something. He took of into the sky, and directed his path to Sulivan street. It was only a matter of minutes before try arrived, and soon he had set her down, somewhat reluctantly.

Kijani was unsure as Connor held her, and she carefully wrapped her arms around his neck. They took off, and she buried her face in his neck, the cool metal against her forehead. She let out a nervous squeak, and then peeked out as they got higher. "Oh... oh wow..." The city lay beneath them, sparkling with light and beautiful. "It's beautiful up here.." The ride was over far too soon, and they were touching down. Her feet hit the ground and she sighed softly. "...and you get to do that all the time?" Her hair was slightly in disarray, but her eyes were bright. "I'm absolutely jealous."

After what just happened the first thing he thinks about is sleep. "Uh alright then. Good night?" Feeling a bit alone she walks off to herself. She wasn't sure what she would do. Right now she was in control. But it felt like any minute her other self could just come back and take over. Thinking about what Ben said she decided it might be better to stay outside for the night.

What new experience do you desire?" Griffin replied. He wanted to give her something in return of everything she had given him. She good for you Griffin. Griffin agreed.
