Nicholas looked at the new person with a blank stare for what seemed like a few minutes before briefly muttering a hello,"Of course but i think such things would not be beneficial only to yourself and not for others....But their is always the opposite opinion of being a superhero to help people but that seems laughable..." He said with a soft chuckle picking up a burger wrapped in tin foil and a cardboard carton of fries.

Hannah was new to the school and was kinda shy but when it comes to making new friends she found herself having everyone entertained. She always made her own lunch so she just found her way to the cafeteria and an isolated spot to sit at

Devika let out a soft laugh, as she got a sandwich that was piled with meat. "Well, I can't benefit anyone if I can't even handle myself. So, for the first time in my life, it's me first, and then everyone else." She shrugged and smiled a bit. Truthfully, she wasn't so sold on being a superhero. It was an idea she'd considered and discarded earlier in life- she was so unskilled that she'd likely just get killed trying to stop a bunch of punk kids shoplifting. "I don't know if heroism is for me. Maybe I'm too old, or too cynical." She always thought being a hero was for idealists, people who really, really thought the world could be fixed with enough work. People like her parents. She wasn't so sure about that thinking- honestly, she felt like a person could work their life away trying to fix the world... "What about you, Nicholas? You going hero? Maybe going all dark-side on us? Or maybe you're just here to learn, like me?"

[Flood]

"I know why I'm here. I'm here to learn how to make money. Like any other school, except with more explosions." Flood offered his own opinion into the conversation as he grabbed another student's lunch. He looked at it and frowned. "I hate tofu." He threw the plate away and grabbed another students lunch. This had a burger and fries on it like Nicholas. "Much better."

She wasn't so sure about that thinking- honestly, she felt like a person could work their life away trying to fix the world... "What about you, Nicholas? You going hero? Maybe going all dark-side on us? Or maybe you're just here to learn, like me?"

"Both sides are how do you say pointless in terms of ideology it is a tired practice that should be eliminated...so in a way i am here to learn.." Nicholas said taking a seat beside Hannah without even realizing it.To Nicholas the things like heroes and villains are pointless and will not benefit anyone but that is his own opinion on the matter,The young man still with a blank face didn't say add to what Flood said but made a mental note of the man's greed which would be his downfall.

Devika snickered faintly at Flood, shaking her head. "You could learn to make money at a regular school, you know. Go for an MBA. You're here because you don't want to be normal." To Nicholas, she frowned. "I get what you mean about ideology. But as long as humans exist, there will be idealists. It's just pure human nature, hard-wired into our brains. If we could overcome our emotions, our stereotypes, and instincts, we'd be computers. But then again, we'd be computers- and part of the enjoyment of life comes from happiness, joy, love... sure, there are bad times, but computers can't feel anything at all."

Devika gave him a mildly startled look, before she started to laugh. She reached out and gave Nicholas a punch in the shoulder. "Geez, lighten up, will you Nick? No talking about cancer at the lunch table. That's a rule." It was something she did for her parents, too. She demanded that they not speak about work while they were eating together. Sometimes, she just wanted them to get out of their own heads, out of that work mode, even for a little bit.

It wasn't such a terrible thing- in fact, it was a relief to be around someone who seemed less emotional. Perhaps he was nervous. "Well my full name is Nicholas Phillip Crane and no I do not have any powers only the power of my mind,My mind is my weapon it has gotten my out of many sticky situations...what I like to do is well.." Nicholas pasties for a moment taking a fry into his mouth."I like to read and work on my projects" He said calmly now chewing what was in his mouth.

Devika nodded a bit. So he was an intellectual. That was very respectable, in her eyes. She liked people who wanted to expand their minds. "Oh, you like to read? So do I!" She seemed to light up. "I prefer fiction, really. Swords and magic and all sorts of fantasy creatures. What do you like best?" She took a bite of her sandwich and thought. "And what kind of projects? Anything interesting?"

"Mostly books on psychology and chemical..." Nicholas said in a dull voice taking another bite of his food,"Of course I was never one for such dribble like swords and princesses stuck in towers waiting to be rescued" He added now resting his hands on the table."And to answer your second question it is not interesting a project about fear and it develops" Nicholas spoke taking a drink of his cola which had become a little stale.

Devika let out a tiny snort. "Dribble, huh? Well, the bit about princesses waiting for rescue is definite bullshit, but there IS a sword training yard at this school. So it's less dribble and more... possibility. I'd still prefer to rescue myself, though." She pushed back her curls as she thought. "I would love to see your project, actually. Psychology is sort of a side hobby of mine- I focus on emotional states and what causes them. I guess I've always been trying to understand how I do what I do. So... if you're looking into how fear develops, I would just love to see your research. Maybe I can help. I'm pretty good at making people afraid." She let out a dry laugh and drunk some of her iced coffee. "Even when I really don't want to."

She remembered Griffin being deeply afraid of her and tried not to sigh.

Devika shrugged slightly. "I'm a big girl, Nick. I can handle myself. No need to protect me." She flashed him a quick smile, then went back to her food. She'd just gotten the first emotion that she could detect from Nicholas. Nervousness... She wondered why. Maybe he didn't show people his work often?

"Come we can take a look right away" Nicholas quickly standing up wiping food form his mouth,He took his tray into his hand and started to walk to the garbage can wondering if she really wanted to see the fear gas he was producing.

Hannah watched the two talking and started to laugh the laugh was unsettling even to herself. She stood up and got on the table "petty arguments will get you no where but food fights ha that'll get you to the top" slings a spoon full if potato salad at nick

Nicholas with a cat like reflexes moved to the side to dodge the food,"And childish food throwing will also get you no where" He said in a emotionless voice dumping his empty food in the trash.

"You're the son of Scarecrow. We should compare notes sometime. I've been doing a study on the effects of fear on humans." Flood mentioned as he looked at the new girl. He picked a fry off his plate and flung like a knife at her. He then got up and began walking with Nicholas and Devika.
