"That really doesn't surprise me." Kaden muttered as Kat spoke of chaos already in the air. "Its rare when you actually cause it Kat your more of a girl who will throw wood onto the fire type." He said unknowingly using a similar description compared to what Lee had mentioned earlier. Unlike the thief however whom was able to figure it out in just a few minutes and words, Kaden knew Kat far longer. He spent much time with her back during his original stay at the Academy. Then the slowing of her pace caught his attention and for perhaps one of the few brief times. She asked of his well being.
Coming to a halt he titled his head down with a small smile gracing his lips as he closed his eyes. "I would be lying if I feel better than ever Kat." Kaden spoke in the old tongue with a small chuckle. "You know when I was a kid...before mom died and I started holding a pointless grudge over dad, I use to imagine myself going on adventures with him throughout the realms. Slaying evil side by side father and son. The perfect little kid fantasy of being a hero." he said opening his eyes back up to look at his cousin.
"After her death, I started to learn how to control my abilities, and our first few adventures here at the Academy I began to question if I was cut out for any of this." He revealed. "When the Warrior Three learned word of the Witchblade re-emerging I knew I should be the one to recover it. I thought it would be a simple mission and I would be back home in a couple of days oh how wrong I was." Kaden said "I'll never forget that first month, I spent a good portion of it in bed heavily injured. Being nursed back to health by a kind old woman on a distant world far from anything connected Yggardisl while her two, five year old granddaughter's would help her and never shut up asking me questions.
I spent weeks in bed before I was finally able to walk without pain shoot throughout my body. Right after I recovered however that kind woman soon fell ill herself. She passed away peacefully in her sleep, the two little girls however...they didn't cry. When I asked they only smiled at me and said they would see her again one day. I escorted them to their next of kin and made a promise to visit them when I could.
A week after that I followed a lead that brought me to the world where I received the Star Tear. It looked like a peaceful land, dwarves all living about mining gemstones, crafting beautiful equipment, drinking, feasting, and the occasional insult contest they had with rival clans. That is until a dragon would arrive." Kaden recalled his eyes glossing over slightly. "The sight of that thing, scales red as blood wings large as a football field. Its breath unleashed a storm of fire. It had come to the Dwarves home and burned everything down in its path killing thousands slowly as they were burned alive." He said with a small hint of sadness. "So many families perished out of its selfish greed, I battled with that monster for days before I took its head and put an end to it." he said with a small hint of pride. "the dwarves were grateful and while they mourned they held an amazing festival one to honor the dead with songs of praise, stories written to be remembered, memorial tournaments held. Monuments erected, they honored their dead by living on for them never forgetting but never looking back." He said fluently in the old Norse tongue.
"I met many friends and enemies of my mother during her time as the wielder of the Witchblade. Learning stories and experiences I never imagined possible. Hard to believe the woman who made you breakfast, saw you off to school, talked to you about girls, was once a warrior who faced demons and monsters on a regular basis. Then after two years...I finally found it Kat. I found the Witchblade in the possession of someone I wished never found it. A queen, who held a life long grudge against Asgard. Ironic in a sense that weapon end up with such a being.
The Queen had sought my mother's tool longer than I realized. She was the one responsible Kat...." He said choking up slightly. "I always questioned why...that day, why did Rhino randomly attack an innocent woman and snapped her neck for no reason. It was because he was paid to.....by her, the Queen. The Queen wanted the Witchblade so much she was willing to kill its previous owner to find it. She finally had it, and I saw first hand how powerful it truly was." He said recalling the battle that occurred just a month ago.d It was the hardest battle of my entire life, I can still feel her swords slash through me over and over as I try to block. The sounds of my bones breaking from her strength, the dizziness that accompanied my excessive blood loss, the taste of blood on my tongue as I continued to cough it up. But I didn't relent, I kept getting back up on my feet. Pulling myself back up from the dirt, and swung my sword at her again." He said before another laugh escaped his lips
"I only managed to beat her by fool's luck. The Witchblade was the source of her tremendous power without it....she was nothing. With a brief gap in her defenses, I took her arm off separating the weapon from her." Kaden revealed. "With her power broken and the Witchblade in my possession I had the Queen, the woman whom murdered my mother at me mercy. I saw the outrage in her eyes, the fury, and the fear....but I spared her. Enough blood had been spilt over the Witchblade." Kaden said with a frown. "After spending another month bed ridden healing I hid it away, devising a number of methods and ruses to keep it from being found again." He said before returning his deep blue eyes to Kat's emerald ones.
"I'm a different person compared to the innocent boy that left all those years ago Kat. I have seen so much despair, bloodshed, and death in just two years than most people do in their entire lives. I made friends, I shared laughs with them watched them progress and even watch some of them die. I made enemies out there as well including the Queen who still wants my head. The dream I once had as a kid of being a hero and the reality of it are two completely different things. But if I did learn some important lessons, life is going to suck no matter how hard you prepare for it. There are going to be bad moments that you wished never happened, however there are also great things too." he said smiling again. "I am going to make sure I always remember it, all of the good and the bad. And I am always going to keep moving forward no matter what until the end of my days and it is my time to move on and let the next generation take the reigns." He said showing a new level of confidence not seen two years ago.
"I do however appreciate you asking Kat." Kaden said as a grin began to form on his face. "Well what about you cousin? You said you have been away from the Academy yourself. So tell me what have you been doing? Travelling yourself? Or did you finally find a boyfriend?" He asked with a small chuckle
=Meanwhile with Lee=
"Junk...junk...junk..." Lee said in a bored tone of voice with an equally bored expression his face as he flicked through the screens of a tablet. A device he 'found' inside a kid's backpack when the boy wasn't looking. Personally he was impressed that this planet was actually capable of device being operated just by touching the screen. Sadly that wouldn't get his Night Phantom repaired anytime soon that's for sure.
However Lee was somewhat intrigued by one of the features the tablet had. Something called the Internet, which must serve as this world's holonet albeit on a smaller scale. It was definitely a useful tool indeed, all the information concerning Terra all at his disposal with just a single finger swipe across a screen. Or at least it would have been if some exhausted looking guy in a nice suit hadn't suddenly pushed Lee out of his way and made him drop the device and shatter the screen against the ground. "Crap..." Lee muttered before his gaze turned to the who was forcing everyone out of his path.
"He looks like he's in a rush today." Lee mused aloud to himself before grinning slightly. "I wonder what is bugging him?" he said pulling his hood over his features and began to pursue him, trying to not draw attention to himself in the process.
