[OOC] Academy of Heroes and Villains

Reminds me of that GRRM quote about architects and gardeners in writing, neither is better than the other, just have to go with what works for you. I get stuck with scenes in my head that I can imagine happening but no idea how to get to them, or where to go after that, which isn't very useful :P

LOL I agree what works for one person might not work for another. I appreciate the ideas. I think my characters are just destined to be boring side characters. If I think of a way to change that you guys will be the first to know.

Sorry that took so long >.< Here is my CS!
I have recreated an old character of mine who has these powers. In the past this character was a 31 year old female studying medicine and she found a way to use her powers for that, stimulating cytokinesis (healing/cell division). She also perfected how to use herself almost as a lightning rod to attack enemies within a radius from her. I know what she is like as her future self, so I am going to try her younger self :) is this okay?

Name: Makoto まこと(Gale)

Age: 21
PARENTS: Storm raised her but her birth parents are unknown.
Powers: Lightning and electrical currents. She can manipulate intensity of the electrical energy as well as form. She also has the ability of cytokinesis (self healing).

Makoto was only 4 when she was found by Storm. The house had been set ablaze by an unknown source. The family had moved in not to long before the fire so their little girl could attend a good school. She was the first generation of their family to be born in America, the rest having moved from Japan. Though one of her parents was native to Japan, the other's was from England that moved there generations before (thus her odd phenotype).Living in a small home, cramped too close together to meet any sort of true security standards, the fire was a huge risk. The flames licked at the neighboring buildings while the fire fighters tried to contain the damage. Storm happened to be in the surrounding area where she could see the billowing black smoke. She quickly made her way over to help. Upon arrival she overheard the fire fighters radioing that the parents were likely dead but the little girl was yet to be found. Storm rushed into the building while creating rain to help control the fire. In the closet of what looked like the little girls bedroom, storm found Makoto. The little girl was crying and shivering in fear. Storm was thankful that the fire had yet to breach the girl’s room but it was not far, flames were already moving through the doorway. Storm quickly escaped with the girl and helped to put out the fire. Storm did something outside of the normal routine that day, without a word she left with the child. The girl, who still had her school backpack on, was able to change the feel of the air as she cried. Recognizing that this girl would likely be a mutant, carried her off to a place where she would be safe and could learn at an early age what to do with these powers. As it turned out, Storm was right. Makoto, the name that was on the inside of the little girls backpack, could control electricity.

Maybe if you think about them, and what they want to achieve. Kijani wants to achieve strength. The issue is that her concept of 'strength' had to be shattered if she was truly to change.

She might be alittle old for the academy.

Not necessarily too old- I have Devika at about the same age, but that's because she's a college transfer. I do have to say that being found by Storm and known as a mutant that early, Makoto likely would have been in the Academy long before this time.

So... what stopped her from getting there?

I would put her at about 16 or so. Like Dizzy pointed out she was eased by a mutant and was know to have powers from a young age. She would have been enrolled in the academy as soon as she was old enough or when it was established whichever happened first.

I wasn't honestly sure where Storm would have taken her at that point. To the Academy or Xavier's school ^^"
I have a bit more of a back-story for Makoto that would explain a bit. She suspects, and is right, that she started the fire. her powers appeared because she got really upset one day since her parents fought a lot. she had run off to her room to hide in the closet from her parents arguing, not totally realizing (because she was 4 at the time) that as she had run off she had caused sparks (literally) that had caught something on fire. While her parents argued they didn't notice until it was quite bad and when they tried to find Makoto she was still upset and didn't want to come out. When she had finally calmed down the house was roaring with fire and so she stayed in her closet, scared.

I can try that for sure. I was trying to make her a bit older since I had played her 'future self' and am trying this regression thing.

From what I read in the CS's, Pheoebe and Devika are 21, Estella is 20 and everyone else is 18 or under.

A good deal of the students are older than teens. I had made Ryan 17 orignally but changed his age when this started.It was easier that way.

Estella is an alien. She just arrived it makes since for her to need the academy No matter what her age

Kat is 20 because I started with her in the original roleplay so time passed and well, yeah

I play on the 'weaker on Earth' thing with her

With Makoto, I was going to play it as that she has a good handle on most of her skills but is not yet at the level she was at when I first created her character (age: 31). I was hopefully going to have her researching and developing her skills of being able to heal others through cytokinesis by stimulating the cells to replicate faster. That and figuring out how she can make herself(or others) into a lightning rod. I'd be trying to gear her towards being both offensive with her lightning and healing with her lower levels of electrical control. Its kinda how her main power flows into the other one.

If she just needs guinea pigs to advance her powers then there doesn't seem to be much need to be at the academy much longer.
