[OOC] Digimon Source Code

The year is 2020, in today's society, the internet is almost a part of everything we use. With the way technology and the net has grown over the years, the digital world has always been parallelly(THIS ISNT A WORD) effected. It was no more than a year ago, that a hacker took it upon himself to shake up the world and released a very nasty, artificially intelligent computer virus. As the virus began infecting more and more computers of importance, the UN had to make a decision before the virus caused irreparable damage. They chose to black out the internet, they stopped all network linked satellites, forced all network providers to halt service, it was very dark day for the world. This black out period lasted about four months in the real world, while they rounded up all fragments of this virus to destroy it. Eventually they deemed it safe and everything was resumed, almost as if it had never happened at all.

When this all happened, it caused absolute chaos in the digital world. The natural order had begun to breakdown, some digimon went made, while areas of the digital world just vanished without a trace. It was safe to say that in the chaos of the real world and the digital world, the virus slipped through the cracks and entered the digital world in silence. When the net came back up, the digital world was in ruins, but they rebuilt, they stood together again. Things weren't quite the same though, there was still the lingering of darkness and chaos in the air. Stories were told about dark happenings and digimon continued to go missing from time to time.

The digital world itself could sense the danger and it called upon five teenagers to save it. Five brand new digidestined, their goal was to find the source code of the digital world, and the core data itself and begin the total reboot that the world needed. Lets hope they can locate it before anything else does.

2. that you get to the digital world in an instant like I did. You are doing something, and the next thing you know you are in the forest.

By being darker, do you mean towards the humans? Since in Digimon, it sort of made sense when they didn't bleed unlike Pokemon since they are bundles of data. And when they die they just get reincarnated. (Unless their data gets absorbed upon defeat) or is that changed in this?

Every iteration of Digimon is slightly different they do "bleed" just they bleed data/source code. In theory you inflict a serious enough injury they would probably start leaking digital blood, what purpose it serves if any coudl be debated But I would think especially in the real world they'd have some equivilant. Data gets converted to synthetic flesh basically, so thy should have some form of Synthetic blood analog.

But Dark doesn't have to mean blood. Dark can mean stuff like torture. while in a show a bad digi would be likely to just lock up their captive slap them a couple times. in a darker setting torture would fit in, even if digimon don't bleed they can feel pain so by stabbing a digimon every so often to inflict pain until they talked that could fall under "darker" The original version wasn't afraid to be a little dark for plot reasons, Myotismon killing pumpkinmon for example, and torturing nyaromon/salamon. However the dub edited some of that stuff, yes we still saw an abused salamon, but Pumpkinmon got "banished" because his death was off screen. Puppetmon had a real gun instead of a toy and so on.

So i would take "Darker" as in the bad guys are bad enough to try and kill our characters (why else would we need weapons?)

True true I forgot the aspect of torture xD I understood the humans since yeah I expect them to get hurt, have the possibility to die, etc at least compared to the show which rarely actually put them in harms way (though my memory is bad. I do know the first series tended to 'kill' off a lot of digimon while 3 and 5 made confirmed deaths)

I like the fact I find the original digimon I wanted to play(but totally forgot the name and the evolution line they are from) after I post my intro. Ha oh well. Next digimon rp I shall remember I swear! XD

And recently I rewatched the openings of the Digimon series to jog some memories. Good times. Though I think season 4's opening is the best xD

Yes Leor is amazing, took them long enough to give a plausible rookie for Leo, though giving him a line as well is a bit sad, its a great digi with great options for lines.

On the whole darker thing I have a couple things to note.

1. If people can bleed why not digimon(consider the fact that in the digital world, even the people are materialized data.) So yes everything BLEEDS!

2.Torture and everything are bound to be part of this, and you are right they want to kill us. They want to kill us dead.

Yeah every iteration of digimon is a little different in how they portray that aspect. Adventure just had thier data disperse and they'd eventually get reborn. Tamers had digis absorbing the data of defeated digis, Frontier had a mix of the two with fractal code, So yeah I'm all for them bleeding in some form, past stories i've attempted to write and past digi rps i've been in have had them either bleed like us ,or have data leak from them when they suffered a serious enough Injury. Best example was an RP using troopmon as generic grunt type digis. Because their profile states that they are essentially just suits that are animated by data. Inflicting a serious enough injury to the rubber like "suit' would cause the data to leak out rendering Troopmon unable to continuing fighting.
