Right, so I got a problem.

I have no idea how I can react to Satori doing that to Alaira, whilst simultaneously prevent her from leaving the college and never coming back.

I understand that that bit is supposed to be funny, but the truth is that what Satori did was a monstrously evil act. Psychomancy does not fill her with rage, what it does is cause ceaseless agony in her. A terrible, clawing, burning pain that only gets stronger. when that happens, she is lashing out in desperation, because her poor broken mind sees it as the only way to make it stop. Now, Ssarak just did it, sure. But unintentionally, and he doesn't even know he has that effect on her, or even how to control it enough for Alaira to be unaffected. Satori knows what it does, and very much does have that total of control. Let me put it in perspective. what Satori just did is like getting a sandwich for a friend of yours that's allergic to peanuts, and putting a little peanut butter on it to 'see what happens.' And yes, the effect could very much kill her over time.

And then there's Khan. He said it himself, he would never allow harm to come to a student. Why would he just sit there? You could say he doesn't know, but I think he's smart enough to catch on if the second Satori steps up, Alaira starts shrieking in agony. Would he ignore that? Does protecting students only apply to bandits and raiders, the teachers have free reign to abuse the students as they see fit? If so, how does a place as large as this stay functioning? wouldn't that drive students (and their tuition money) away? I feel like that was simply an unintentionally (I hope) mean spirited attempt at a joke, and I'm really sorry to have to rant. I just feel as if the long-term effects of Alaira's part of Satori's demonstration weren't fully considered. Unless Satori is Evil, in which case I guess I understand. I wouldn't have a problem if it were an accident, but I just can't foresee Khan letting her get away with it if it was intentional.

I think I actually agree with Free here. It seems like a very unwise thing to do if she knew the effect it would have on Alaira, Especially if she is known to lash out at others uncontrollably. She could end up hurting another student more physically. The entire thing seems to be a bit malicious, just not to that extent.

Well, for Satori, she has very little idea of Alaria's own weakness regarding Psychomancy. I don't imagine that Alaria freely tells everyone of what happens, and Satori only knows it exist, but not to what extent. Her purpose in poking into Alaria's mind was to witness firsthand what actually happens, because she doesn't know. This is of course not the place for such a sensitive experiment, but unlike the others Satori didn't even enter Alaria's mind, she just poked it. And even than she has no idea what would happen to Alaria or how she'd react, because Alaria is the first one of this instance to ever show up at the college.

You'd have to understand, even though Alaria's weakness to Psychomancy is just that, Satori (And bit by extension, me) needed to know just how sensitive Alaria is to Psychomancy. ALL Psychomancy involves probing and altering the mind; even visual illusions like flashes of light involves entering the mind of someone and making them perceive those lights. If Alaria can react violently to something as minor as Satori just poking into her mind, who knows what would happen to more elaborate and powerful spells; including ones that are suppose to be very subtle. Alaria's sensitivity to Psychomancy can be used as both a weakness and a strength; if she can pick up to something as subtle and pointless as a poke in her mind, what stops her from reacting to much more powerful wide-area illusions that is suppose to go unnoticed? Even though Alaria can't resist all illusions, her weakness allows her to know when she is being affected by illusions, when others can't. And that is a very important factor when fighting against illusionists.

Alright, I concede to that.
But in a room full of people she might harm and without her consent?

As I said, neither me nor Satori knows what would happen. And should something happen, that's what Uicle's golems are for, and if you missed on Lucilia's demonstration, she too can quickly get involved so long as you're standing on solid ground. The demonstrations doesn't just show what you can do with your magic; it also shows what sort of power the teachers have, to encourage others to rise to their level and to put a healthy amount of fear into everyone who tries to go against them.

It's kind of like exploding a nuclear weapon in the middle of no where; no one is suppose to be hurt, but just imagine what would happen if someone does. There is of course a lot of bad ideas flowing at the time, but we'll make mistakes; where we shine is how quickly and how well we can fix them.

I'm just stuck here. Because of that little sentence, I have no idea how to keep Alaira here. I'm begging you to just take it back, it wouldn't effect anything else and I could keep playing.

Hmm... Alright. But know that Alaria and Satori will one day have to see each other about this weakness. Because unlike Satori, not everyone can control their magic as well as she can. Alaria will have her mind proded more than once, and if she goes off on a berserk each time it happens accidentally, than there will need to be something done short of a lobotomy.

Well, if such a poke gets her to leave, why did she even come into a place full of psychomancers? Didn't she know the risk of having her mind poked?

She could grudgingly forgive an accident, but it wasn't an accident.

I'm fine with experimenting, I just think it'd be safer for all parties in a controlled environment, with her consent.
Edit: Which, being a scientist (All the master mages really are, if you think about it) is the action Satori would likely take.

I hope she gets her mind poked in the field, specifically in villages full of innocent people. Everyone was just put through their worst nightmares!

It just annoys me. If it's so much pain to Alaira, why doesn't she just pass out?

A combination of stubbornness and the effect itself. This weakness is not something she was born with, it is an insidious condition inflicted on her.

This is a time before the scientific method. We're still wondering how Tyrael relieves himself since his anus and his penis is stuck within his body due to merging with his armor. (Hint: the only way in is the only way out). Plus, you should already knows this Free: everything I do generally has one underlining purpose that justifies why I do it. It would amuse me.

Excuse me buddy, but I don't think I'd be too stable if someone was poking around in my brain doing...whatever it is that has been going on since I stopped paying attention to the IC...Which was about a month ago. ._. Think I caught a mention of Satori pokin' dudes in the brain and puttin' somethin' in there wit majicks. Sounds excruciatingly painful, even if you aren't mentally unstable.
