mahz is doing server stuff this weekend (at least according to the 'guild is down' update, so here's hoping we'll have something more reliable soon.

And as you can see, the new site is up. There is no more BBCode, but we have a much nicer editor that blows up and I think we came out ahead on that. Edit: I'll be switching the sheets thread over to our character tab.

Character tab is done up here now. The Template is done to reflect changes to how we format on the Guild. That is only a temporary change, we should have BBCode back eventually.

Should have an IC post up today. During my morning workout (I can't chill entirely on a day off, but my job is pretty intensive physically so I just do it on my days off) I came up with a lot of stuff. The second fireteam in the squad will be a group of redshirts.

First post up. Incidentally, the drone air support control is left up to you Gunther. I figure that these are more likely entirely Grathik made with interface programming to allow the humans to operate them with their own (more rudimentary) control systems. And yes, there is a bit of a wind kicking up sand all around them. It gets into everything.

I'm going to take some time to digest that we aren't RPing boot-camp. -Not that I'm complaining.

These soldiers would not require Basic Combat Training. But they would require a train up session just to familiarize themselves with each other. Also, there are an infinite number of techniques a squad or platoon can execute any number of movement formations/techniques. The difficulty in any unit is getting everyone on the same sheet of music. For our purposes, none of that is relevant and the train up session can be notional. "The thing about TTPs is they are like Assholes. Everyone has one." --famous infantry quote. TTP: Tactics, Techniques and Procedures.

I'll get my post up tomorrow. If I'm lucky, it could be tonight. Depending how tired I get after updating a couple of other RPs I'm in. Can't do it right now, currently at work. Having to cover for some fool who sprained her ankle by wearing high heels on a drunken night out. I'd have more sympathy if this wasn't the third time... -_- Anyway, glad we're going straight into the action. I might do boot camp in a flashback or two.

Guyana, for experienced personnel (and everyone is this time around) means that they verified that they were in good physical condition and familiarized them with weapons, and generally focusing on getting people on the same page with TTP's. > I'll get my post up tomorrow. Flashbacks are fine, but it's not really a boot camp. Guyana isn't really important in the scheme of things.

> I finally got my character posted. I still hate this forum, HeySeuss. :) Mahz has a new editor incoming. It's a third party item that should make editing posts and formatting them a hell of a lot easier. I get the feeling that once that is installed, we'll have a much happier guild.

BTW, [this is what happens when you leave your go-pro downrange of a live-fire-exercise](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1TBl9cwanbI) Felt like pointing-out that if the wind is blowing towards us from the enemy, and we're poking our heads up to eye-level from a reverse-slope, we're probably going to get face-loads of sand. And yes I realize she's acting a bit out of turn.

Foster, your post is fine. It doesn't hinder any of what I had planned. I know a lot of folks hear Danger close and think, it is best you dont' fire a fire mission. But that is not true. I have read about people who have called indirect fire on their own position. That isn't necessary in this case, but a mortar fire mission 350 - 400 meters away from friendly infantry hugging the ground, is acceptable. It is still at sufficient distance to prevent damage from flying shrapnel. I have stood in forested terrain, 500 meters from exploding C4. The concussive blast wave is warm and quick. You feel a hot wind hit you in the face and then it is gone. It is startling when you first feel it and then you get used to it. But it won't injure you. The problem with dropping rounds at such a close distance is the mortar squads make mistakes. They could drop a round right on your head. That is why it is important to let them know it is danger close. Hopefully, they will pay extra close attention. The closest I have ever seen indirect fire land near me was a 155mm HE round roughly 200 - 250 meters away during a Capabilities Life Fire Exercise (CALFAX). I forgot about that when I was writing this post. Then remembered it while I was re-reading it.

Danger close = Don't miss. Don't Miss-ing. Larger concern is that the Salveshi group is in the open and at ease because they have flank-protection. -this is of course assuming we didn't catch them making a mistake. [Because Logic](http://roosterteeth.com/archive/?id=1513&v=more&s=8)

In desert terrain, I would expect tracked vehicles or hover craft, if that's your pleasure. But in either case, when attempting to establish contact with the enemy, an army would do so with the smallest element possible; a squad. More than likely, there are several squads several kilometers apart spread out over a very broad front. Behind them would be the rest of their platoon, probably two squads and some support weapons, plus their PL and PSG. Behind them would be their Company; another two platoons and the company level support weapons. Also, whatever indirect fire weapon systems are available to them, they would be available to make an impact on any known or suspected enemy (us) locations. This could get exponentially larger, but hopefully, Park's platoon leader and/or company commander were listening in on the call for fire and are preparing the rest of the company to move to some sort of a defensive position, ready to accept a Salvesh attack.
