I'm sorry, but I can't accept Santa Claus.

While he probably exists in the multiverse in various universes, it's kind of silly to actually sign up as him and I don't know what you're expecting to do by playing him.

It kinda sounds like he's making a joke character.

Joke characters are honestly more suited to one-off NPC's then a full-blown player character. ^^;

Right, like Wassi Stickman, Raditz, George Melons, Joseph Joestar, and Carl Hanratty.

A character played ridiculously (or given ridiculous abilities and personality traits) can still be played competently. It was rude of me to say Santa was a joke character, but even if he was it wouldn't be too far off from some of the other characters made and posted.

The first I would no longer accept and kind of regret accepting now, all the latter, while fairly ridiculous, are still complete characters.

I can't really see Santa Claus as anything but a joke character when applied to a crossover and don't even see how he could be played aside from a one-off appearance as an NPC.

Raditz and Joseph aren't joke characters. Sure, Raditz had a short lived villain career made worse by the power level escalation making him lower than dirt compared to outright Gods, but that doesn't make him comparable to say, Dan Hibiki.

And being a funny character doesn't mean they're joke characters.

I suppose that's true. However, I still want to see what @Professor_Wyvern has to say. Maybe he won't be a joke character.

Really? Just think he'd be a one off? Frankly I disagree.

Generally looking at Santa Claus you'll see he is a philanthropist, an entrepreneur, a man with a clerical bent, a gourmet, etc. These various traits which flesh him out as a character. And Santa has much to deal with, there is a whole multiverse that needs Christmas Cheer.

Sinterklaas is a rather important individual, who exists to help cultivate joy and revelry for all people to enjoy. Santa has to deal with both the past of how he did his good deeds, and how the ever-changing times makes the experience of making people happy around Christmas a joyful time.

The man is devoted to doing good and helping others, and not always just by delivering presents. Let us go back to one of his exploits from Saint Nicholas. He saved three children from being butchered into meat-pies, by praying to God and the kids were saved and kept alive. More modern versions of Santa have fought martians, demons and the Boogeyman even in order to keep the children and people of the world safe.

Throughout the years, he has had various changes to his appearance and depiction but there was always the constant that Santa was a good guy who wanted to make people happy. And that is his eternal quest, spreading joy, peace and love and of course Christmas Spirit, in a jovial and jolly manner. And with so many possibilities to do good, it won't end anytime soon.

I'm familiar with Santa Claus's mythology.

But I have to be honest and say I don't feel he's an appropriate character for a crossover RP. Maybe if it was specifically based off of mythology or something(which would probably be a pretty good RP), but not for this.

Honestly I'd feel the same way about anyone using any real-world mythological figure, unless they were being used as a character from a canon setting or from an OC setting that was not set up just to be straight out of mythology(for example, if you used, say, characters from Percy Jackson that would be fine, but not if you just used Zeus right out of Greek Mythology).

I'm sorry, but this is my final word on the matter.

So what you're saying is that he has to use a fictional version of Santa?

Well, Santa would end up as a weird choice for any crossover RP, honestly.

Again, unless it's just actual mythology.

The explanation was more in reference for any mythological figures.

Santa has shown up in so many shows as the exact same character it doesn't matter for him, though.

Technically you could just slap down the same CS, label it under CN-verse, and be done with it.

Santa is in like, really everything. Don't find him weird for a crossover RP at all. After all Santa has been seen in like, Pac-Man, Powerpuff Girls, He-Man and She-Ra, Star Wars, etc.

Man has experience with that sorta thing. Anyhow, I'll just need a metaphorical minute to secure a particular Santa.

I'm pretty sure the GM has put her foot down, so that's not going to make any difference.

GM stated that a Santa from a particular mythos/medium etc. would be fine. So taking a Santa on the basis of a particular story should be fine.

Fry and Leela forgot the most important part of X-Mas. Don't leave the safety of a highly barricaded laboratory.

When I said he was a weird choice for a crossover RP, I meant that.

I don't feel Santa, specifically, is acceptable in this RP. The rest was in terms of mythological characters in general.

My wording may have been confusing and I apologize for that. I just don't feel Santa from nearly any media he's known from really works well for a crossover RP as a full-scale character. ^^;

For a crossover really you couldn't ask for anyone BETTER than Santa, because he's done this game before. As compared to the various characters who are really more applicable to their own story. Santa Claus is applicable to any story. Santa could be in any real genre and place. Other characters only really fit in their timeline, while Santa is timeless and universal.

He would be far more used to the stranger aspects of dimensional traveling. Such as Doctor Who Santa. He's pretty used to the weird man who travels through time and space and has helped him out in a few of his shenanigans and has been helped by the time traveler.
