A Magic Barrier has been crossed without permission and a trap has been laid about.... only safety is with the one who made it. If they can't survive to make it to the castle then they don't really deserve to be a mage's apprentice. uh... slendy I will say this I think your character may be an idiot... Chimeras are creatures that will pretty much kill anything expect it's master if it has one, there is no talking to it... so may give chance to have him change his mind about this action, because 99% likely at that close range his going to get cooked, poisoned or eaten... or all of the above...
