Groin also hurts chicks. It's a sensitive area no matter what the hell you are.

Also, nothing beats a good shanking. Honorable combat can bite my ass, pick up a rock, stab the fucker if you have something, and let the survivors tell their tale. I'm all for the philosophy and discipline of martial arts, but when my life is on the line the only thing that should matter is do I get to walk away from this or shall it be the last time I see my family again. Besides that, if this was going to be a fair fight, you should at least have the consent to say no to it. Once they take that option away from you the best thing you can do is scram, or be the bigger monster.

A good trick if you're one of those "I might hurt myself with this knife" type is find yourself a very long key. If someone does ever ask for your wallet, keys, etc, take this and slice the guy's wrist or whatever is soft if he comes to take it. Also carry a spare wallet or something that looks like a wallet. A small bag of rice hurts a lot more than you think when it's pitched at your face.

Exactly what Lucius said,

3. Never fight a fair fight.

Shit, I carry around a nasty pocket knife, have a rifle sitting by my bedside at my apartment, and I'm working on my concealed carry for my pistol. Let a fucker try and mess with me. Want my wallet? I'll exchange it for your blood.

-Wipes mouth- Excuse me, I'm getting a little heated. Today's not been the best for me.

Right, but it's typically more debilitating for men if I'm to understand that correctly. There's a solid bone there for the ladies that still smarts, I believe.

Best thing to do in a real life situation is get out of there ASAP. I'm a big martial arts guy but I'll be the first to tell you to run as soon as you can if you're in danger.

I'll save my combination punching and body work and grappling for a controlled environment, where I won't have dying to worry about.

I'm cheap, and too many people give me shit for carrying my knives on me. You have to handle it prison like and learn to make yourself a shiv, something that you could pass off as a mundane object but also handle it as a cutter when need be. I keep a comb for that purpose; keeps my hair nice and I whittled the handle so I can stab someone at least four inches deep. Though I'd still prefer to carry my knife if I'm wearing my jacket, as it has pockets specifically for the purpose of hiding weapons on my person.

And again like harine said

Most of all, just be smart and don't put yourself in a situation where you run the risk in the first place.

I say let them give you shit, carry fucking 20 knives I won't care. Hell, I'll probably ask to see each one and admire it. I'm not a very combative person myself, hell far from it. But fuck with me and piss me off Wrong me and threaten my safety and those around me and you'll find over 50 hollow point 9mm rounds to greet your flesh bag of a body with.

EDIT: GOD DAMN IT, UNREASONABLE BILLS PISS ME OFF!

Speaking of which, I think I'm in the market for a new folding knife. I dropped mine today and the blade opened up on its own. That's a safety no-no, in my book. 'Innovative locking mechanism' my fucking ass.

I don't want to be that guy, but "Don't drop your knife" tends to be one of those things you got to learn to do to handle knives. Otherwise getting one of those knives that don't flip open with a light tap are more expensive than the surgery it takes to close the wound from getting slashed by one of those knives. So something around $500. I got a couple of blades myself, though I'll be honest when I say I like my knives that are easy to whip out at a moment's notice. Cheap, sure, but stab wounds from a $40 or a $200 switch blade aren't really different.

Yeah, you pay for quality and features. It was an accident, honestly, a careless one. I was cutting opening some boxes and my grip wasn't firm I guess.

But a stab wound is a stab wound, and since you seem like a 'connoisseur' of knives you'll probably cringe/laugh at me, but the knife in question is a Gerber knife. IT LOOKED NICE AND IT WAS CHEAP. SHUT UP.

Blade has served me well thus far, what from all my abuse I put through all my knives. All my knives are just partially for self-defense, their main purpose being 'work' knives.

To be honest... I live in Germany, not the US. I have never been even close to be robbed in my entire life.
You feel really safe in this country.
Also... it is fairly common sense not to walk around the city past midnight and if you do, avoid certain parts of the city.

Tl;dr: I don't need no knife.

"Connoisseur"? You're too kind. No, I'm much the same way. I buy knives cause they look nice, also for the purpose of whatever I may actually need a knife for. Personally I'd prefer to larger fixed blades, but again, I'm not really the type to carry them just to leave them on my mantle. I am not a violent man, but I would like to be seen as a practical one. My first knife was a Scorpion brand that I picked up at a hardware store. Even cut myself cause I was playing around with it. I'd like to get myself one of those fancy corporate knives, but their brands tack on at least $100 bucks for something that I typically use to cut tape or trim my nails.
