There is not way that would be fatal. I mean Sapphire jumped off the roof a little while ago and apart from having to do a couple of front flips to use up her momentum she was completely fine. Besides on the show RWBY is constantly jumping off really high things and showing no sign of damage.

How exactly was Sielber written out? There is a chance it could be undone assuming she wasn't found out to be a White Fang member or using fake transcripts or something. A lot of our recent drop outs left Beacon because of family issues or to pursue different goals. Sielber could easily come back from something like that.

I believe they use their Aura to cushion fall damage, it takes more aura the higher they fall. If they don't manage to use their Aura in time or properly they should still get hurt.
