[OOC] Heroes of Beacon - the Next Chapter

Except I wasn't asking for standard of writing, that's something else entirely. That's basically the division between Beginner, Casual and Advanced. I'm asking for some mere labelling on posts to make it easier to keep track of everything.

I came in appearingly offensive because that was the only to actually get all your attention, because this is the THIRD time I've mentioned it.

I haven't been posting in IC because I've been talking about this and you're being so goddamn difficult about it, not to mention I've been out and doing assignments for the past few days.

So basically I haven't had time to wade back through the posts and guess who is in Grimm Studies until today, and even today I have other assignments to think about doing later. I just happen to have more time today.

Well you could always ask for who would be available in the Grimm Studies for interaction now, and then when you have more time check back into the OOC and see if anyone responded. Because even if we did put titles that doesn't mean someone is available for you to work with.

If you want something to do so badly, I could easily arrange for someone to approach Jack, and if Seraph or Hari post a responds to Gren I could have either of the two head in Jack's direction since, coincidentally, you all are fighting a giant shark and Gren needs someone to test his underwater breathing device.

The fact this is your third time you've had to mention it obviously means the first two times didn't stick. We both may wonder why, but I think the real question is this: Who should we blame?

Putting the titles means you know who is in the class to approach and ask if they're available to work with. It's meant to be an indicator. Unless you wanted to put "single and ready to mingle" or something, it becomes a different kind of indicator.

I also blame myself for it being the third time, because I wasn't so vocal about it like this time. I am fully aware people take a lot more than a few passive mentions to get something through their heads and I'm learning just how thick people can be today.

Otherwise, for class, since none of my team members are in Grimm Studies, probably best something is arranged.

I was very tempted to go directly into hostility, you may not have noticed it having written the posts yourself, but they were bordering into hostility and were passive aggressive.

That aside, Seraphs makes a legitimate point. One of the problems is that our characters can be pretty much right next to each other and not know it due to lack of context in some posts.

Would you rather I asked everyone properly put setting and position context into their posts via writing?

Or would you rather I asked everyone to just put a goddamn label at the top of their posts?

Even I know how unreasonable the first option is, which is why I just would prefer everyone put 1-3 words at the top of their post? Seriously. Is that so hard? It's why we have a calendar in human civilization, why we have page numbers, why we have titles, why we have categories, why alphabetical order exists.

SO WE CAN KEEP BLOODY TRACK OF EVERYTHING.

EDIT: Seriously, this is driving me mad. I just can't understand why you WOULDN'T do it. I know the reason, you're even lazier than I am, or you're just insufferable, or something completely different. I just don't understand it.

Dude simmer down. I understand where you're coming from and I totally agree, it would make it a lot easier for me if everyone labeled there location clearly just as an organization thing but if you order people to do it, insult them when they don't and just in general react badly to the other person's point of view the discussion will immediately stop being about whatever the original issue was and will become a hissing match between you and whoever thinks your the most in the wrong (this case being Lucius).

Reacting in this manner is just going to ensure that no one wants to label there posts with locations cause you're being kind of a bitch about it. Reading your replies I've had half a mind to stop doing it myself cause you're making such a big deal out of it. I won't cause I'm not that petty but it doesn't change the fact that really all you're doing is pissing people off.

I just find it strange you would berate someone on their supposed "tumblr-like" behavior when you're pretty much doing tumblr like behavior. Throwing a tantrum and then disregarding everyone else's opinion on the idea is pretty much tumblr behavior. Gifs even included, just like a tumblr shitpost. I know I am probably one of those posters you are complaining about but a mere notice would have been enough for me to add a header with the location. Jumping to conclusions just because I had not properly utilized headers isn't the best way to get me to do so though.

I never had an issue with posters complaining they couldn't figure out the location of characters due to their lack of detail about their surroundings. That is why I never put a header, I never found it necessary. Not because I am lazy or don't wish to accommodate my fellow rpers, it's just that I never had an rp this big.

I will do so in the future since it is such an issue.

I generally either PM the people in question around that kind of problem. Because you can settle things privately and quickly! :D

Unfortunately it was necessary.

Again, 3rd time. High drama version that makes me look like an ass was the one that got the most attention. I was aware of it all myself.

All the others where I was civil didn't seem to get any attention if at all.

Everyone's using them now, but I'll probably keep an eye out.

But the main reasoning is that not all of the players are the few of you who "don't need to use headers". It'll be helpful for when we get newcomers, and it makes the IC look neat and easier to follow and find posts relevant to yours, rather than making your own little circle of friends within the RP by just remembering whose post to look for.

Like this without setting it up in OOC, we can have our characters communicate, since we know where they are.

I see I missed interesting things

I actually strongly disagree with the statement of "headers make things look neat and organized", and use them to an exceedingly minimal degree with great reluctance because they're tacky, unnecessary unless you're trying to keep track of the whole game. Given the fact that they aren't standardized anyway, they just look plain jumbled.

They're not even necessary; mentions or bold texting a name point out very easily when a new character or player is being referenced in an interaction, and generally speaking, once one knows the group relevant to their posts there is no more need to try and keep track of where every single character is.

and they go against my personal sense of how i prefer to lay out my posts

So, my point is, until such a time as someone with the authority to force me to use headers the way they want me to actually does so, I will continue to offer the same information in my headers as I always have.
