Y'know, flesh over a conductive metal shielding should be more than enough to resist most EMP blasts.
It's not hard to build proper shielding, just kind of expensive.

Frankly I'm taking a lot of liberties based on what we know about Penny, but if they created a machine that can produce Aura, than surely they could have made machines that react and possibly be powered by Aura. Of course that's also assuming Penny is being powered solely by this aura generating machine, though this is where Gren is different because he was once a normal fuanus and can produce his own Aura (Despite most of his fleshy bits mostly being in his head).Which is why an EMP wouldn't work on Gren because if Penny is solely powered by this aura machine, I can see how Pyrhha's magnetism may have effectively "Shut down" Penny's aura, which is what allowed her body to be cut apart. Gren's Aura isn't produced by a machine, but his own "soul", which he still has even if he's missing a large amount of his body.
I know everyone is freaking out that Gren has the possibility of being a mobile nuclear disaster, and to be frank, that's kinda the intention of this is discovered IC. I want to see how people would react: Would they see Gren as a threat that needs to be destroyed? Or will they try to help him go for a cleaner, less dangerous alternative? Because I will admit: Gren likes power. He likes the idea that even in his weakest state, he could destroy many people, and many things. The fact that he keeps it a secret is one of the reasons he's seeking Sapphire's position of leadership because he can't be open about how dangerous he can be, like how he was back when he ran with the White Fang. If anyone bothers to try to interact with him and know this side of him, they can chose for themselves if Gren is a dangerous maniac that needs to be put down, or maybe he has issues that need to be addressed and convince him to let go of his power-hungry rage boner.
Hell, the whole reason I even bothered to mention it OoC is to see how people would react to it. And from what it looks like, there is a lot of fear and hatred for what Gren is. For whatever reason. What will you do about it?
Frankly speaking, aside from trying not to be open about it Gren hasn't really bothered to try to hide the fact he's a Cyborg. He's already a hulking, bulking orc wearing his armor almost all the time, and has rocket boosters coming out of his armor. Now maybe being a walking nuclear reactor would set off more alarms, but I figured Ozpin wouldn't judge someone for who or what they are. But it's not like he's the final word for admittance into Beacon or anything.
@Prince of Seraphs, @Lugubrious, @Lucius Cypher - Alright, well since this is becoming a slight problem. What say you to rewriting Gren's "nuclear reactor' to something akin to a Soul Drive/Solar Furnace/Dust Core?
<Snipped quote by Lucius Cypher>
We're entering into the hypothetical here but I was under the impression that Penny was powered by something to produce an aura not powered by aura. Which means that she has a separate power source that allows her to produce aura.
Electricity ==> Aura ==> Combat Protection
Not:
Electricity ==> Aura ==> Powers everything else ==> Functional Robot
The logical thing to think is that Penny is powered by a more advanced version of whatever powered the Atlesian Knights which don't have an aura. There is no reason to assume that Penny's aura has any part of how she is powered.
Even if that is true, we've already established machinery that reacts to Aura based off of how Ebon controls his R-Types, unless you're going to ask him to change that again so I can't just use a full-body version of what his R-Types work off of.
can someone let me know when the conversation comes back down to a couple sentences a post? I got dizzy trying to follow this.
au contraire
@Lugubrious
Alright, I'll concede. I suppose I let the power go to my own head as well. No more nuclear power, and I'll let EMP's shut down him down to the point where he's extremely sluggish or even immobile if he's not already standing up. As for his latent personality involve his hunger for power, that's something I wanted to develop more in the IC and reveal in his backstory, should anyone ever bother to explore it. I mean, c'mon, he's got essentially a giant dick for a weapon. I kinda figured "Power Fantasy" was sorta written onto his character, tongue-and-cheek as it may be.

Now let's talk about this. What's wrong with Hollywood now a days? They seem bent on taking old classics and remaking them into dime a dozen action flicks that people only go to see cause they have the same title as something they watched as a kid.

@Everyone: I've been to a greater or lesser degree of consciousness been wanting to ask this for some time: how do all of you feel about going back and amending the original character sheet with a History section? I must admit, the sheet I used for this RP I took directly from the last one, which I'm certain didn't have one either. We would all be able to write down our characters' histories if we so chose, and add them to our CSes.

I'm very happy that you're lucid about this issue. Thank you for the concessions. I saw that he was meant to be a Power Fantasy sort of character, but his weapon alone is enough to evoke that. It's be more obviously tongue-in-cheek if he behaved with less intensity IC. I'd honestly be more happy if you were to say that he has a very low amount of aura because of his body, the vast majority of which is robotic. He'd become vulnerable to damage pretty quickly, but afterward he still has his armor and beneath it, he is parts after all. Then Gren has an obvious and even unintuitive weakness: the walking tank is vulnerable to burst damage.

But just so we're clear, who has seen the latest episode of RWBY? Cause I just wanna say, as vague as it can be for those who hasn't, I like the direction it's going but goddammit that's just tragic. Like, nothing funny, nothing heart-warming, and while the fight itself was pretty good I feel it kinda takes a distant second compared to what happened shortly after.
Also everyone is about to have yet another Grimm reminder that they live within cages they call walls. I guess the first time it happened didn't seem quite serious enough, so they're doing it right for round two.
