@Lucius Cypher
Again, why would his aura not be even distributed if he has a specialized organ made precisely to distribute aura through his body? If his aura isn't evenly distributed through his body, then he couldn't move it in the first place. Aura is effectively his blood, and it's the reason why EMP's are even effective against him since they fry the circuits his aura can flow through. Gren's power source is suppose to be able to allow him to distribute aura throughout his body evenly, both for the purpose of making it function as well as protecting him. The idea that it's not active all the time or unevenly distributed means that he's either turned off, or a part of his body isn't working i.e. is broken.

That is a bunch of technojargon to justify your argument there is absolutely no reason why his systems would have to function in that manner. The real problem is that if machines made to manipulate and use aura in such a manner exist for Gren who's machines are all at least several years old then they should exist fairly standardly in the show in a mundane setting. Hunters could use this tech to increase there aura output, hunter weaponry should include these devices to increase how well they can be used as aura conduits, the power companies should be able to use it in their industry. You've made a very clear point of the fact that Gren's tech is old and outdated. Which means it should be fairly widely available if not on the open market then on the underground ones for those with money. Yet there is no evidence of that. It is much more logical to assume he runs off something much more standardized.

Plus a clean power source, even an electric one, would require even more advanced tech then simply being powered by aura, which we can at least assume doesn't have any sort of byproduct. Sure he does need biofuel for his thrusters and his extra electronic bits like his built in phone and camera uses electricity, but those could be safely disabled/their power source removed without affecting Gren's ability to function. At worse he looses mobility, communication, and perhaps the ability to make his helmet cover his face at will. Otherwise we'll end up back to that discussion with the fusion core since apparently he's now running off some sort of engine or fuel that is small enough to fit inside his body but has a power output strong enough to power him indefinitely, especially considering the sort of feats of strength and endurance he preforms.

Also no reason to assume that a clean renewable energy source would have to be more advanced than their aura manipulation technology which we have seen two examples of in the show both of which have been kept very secret and by all indications are new innovations.

Atlus has had a certain type of police android that was recently replaced with a newer model early in the show. It is not unreasonable to assume they have been around for years and have just such a power source. A police android that runs out of power during the course of its duties would not be very effective at what it was designed to do.

@Prince of Seraphs

You say it's more logical for him to run off something that we don't even know exists yet. Sure robots could be powered by electricity or dust or whatever, but again Gren isn't a robot. Over time most of his entire body has been destroyed and replace by technology. He's not like Mercury where he's only lost limps, but just about everything about Gren now is Synthetic. The only thing that makes him different from Penny was that he was once a faunas before, and not simply made a machine from the get go. And as I said before, what Gren runs off of not only has to be clean, but can run indefinitely. Batteries need to be charged and gas tanks need to be refueled, but if Gren runs off an powersource fueled by his Aura, then all he needs to worry about is not getting himself killed, as oppose to running out of juice during an operation. At least with Atlus's robots they aren't on constant patrol; they likely have a place to report back to or a factory where they could refuel or repair. Gren was made for longevity, being durable enough to take damage and being able to last long campaigns without proper maintenance. I.e. being tough.

At least with Gren's current equipment, we're using something that has been established in canon, as oppose to suddenly making a new energy source that is suppose to be infeior then what Gren has now, but could still power him forever and meet that demand for power whenever. Not only that but Gren hasn't always been a cyborg for most of his life; this was only a relatively recent development while he was with the White Fang, and he hasn't been converted into a cyborg up until about three years ago. Yes his technology is "older" and "outdated", but not so old or outdated that it's common place. I'm sure whatever Penny was wasn't something that was made within a year. Stuff that she's made up of probably had been researched and studied for longer then Gren has been alive, with only recent developments showing fruits of it's labor. Gren's own model was stolen before that success, since his can be powered by aura (But not make it's own), which is more of an easier energy source for a faction like the White Fang to access then say, dust and robotics.

If we're still going off the idea that Penny is still being "Tested", then that still means that what Gren is using isn't foolproof. There is likely issues and weaknesses he isn't aware of, perhaps along the same lines Penny has, if we know more about what it's capable of. Not to mention that this technology is what's keeping him alive, and shutting it off is essentially cutting off his life support. That's why an EMP doesn't kill him instantly, and dust fueled is too risky since that will run out, not to mention is extremely volatile. And as I mentioned before, even if those are suppose to be clean energy, they aren't a renewable or easily accessed as simply running off his Aura.

And of course, this is all because we have to nix a core rule of RWBY itself, which is rule of cool. I just wanted to make a robot juggernaught. Now we have to toss in logic and staunch creativity in a world where monsters feed off emotions and people blatant subvert scientific laws anyways. To put it plainly, this just isn't fun anymore.

Guys, stop arguing in the IC already, it's making people upset.

On the subject of RWBY Volume 4, I enjoyed episode 1. Definitely looking forward to the rest of it. The introduction of the villains in the very first scene of the first episode really caught my attention.

These days I just half-arse the viewings to get a sense of what's going on, because the loss of Monty's fight choreography means there's no real reason to actually keep watching beyond a sense of obligation.

I know I should be asleep now, but I just wanted to pop in to mentioned the following:

I like Salem so far. Initially I had my doubts cuz I didn't like the idea of a last minute greater scope villain that essentially makes Cinder seem like small potatoes, but Episode 1 really makes me think more positively of her (For an homicidal maniac anyways). Grateful for Cinder's success and has her back from Mr. Mustache Face and instead of going all "You have failed me Cinder", she does the sensible thing and is like "Yeah I wasn't expecting the silver eye thing either, just rest up here for now and I'll tell you about phase two". But outside of Cinder, her company, and Salem, the other three seems... Bland. We got a giggling madman, a morally questionable doctor figure, and a burly man who is probably one of those straight forward brute types. Compared to the black girl with gun scythes and her kicking friend, they don't really have that interesting of a design or characterization.

As for the Geist, @harinezumikouken, you probally forgot. I'm sure ALL OF YOU have forgotten.

But I called it. I CALLED IT SO LONG AGO!

I made that a long time ago in a contest where we had to draw stuff our team was doing! This was back before NarayanK was more active, otherwise I probably would have lost if he entered literally anything.

But I also like it since it also proves the existence of my own Grimm, the Black Beast (Also known as B.B., he looks like this) since that means not all Grimm have to be based off animals. We could say that the Geist was created after the dragon's awakening, but it's not as if the dragon has only awoken the first time. Not only that but I vaguely remember something about the Schnee corperation making an artificial Grimm, which B.B. technically is. Technically because I never really fleshed out his backstory, but it's possible!

Also ever since I saw Ren's new shoes, I keep thinking he's from a ninja village. That footprint he saw on the group most likely has something to do with either it's destruction, or potentially a creature/grimm/summon that his maybe ninja village uses.

Glad to see that Ironwood is back btw, looks like he's been taking up Crow's hobby. As in, not being sober. I'm somewhat questioning his decision to make the Schnee company stop exporting Dust, as my inner conspiracy theorist is telling me it's not just so dust doesn't get intercepted by White Fang or other baddies. After all, with the fall of Vale, Atlus needs to get ready for war too. And war needs Dust. As for Papa Schnee, I swore he looked fatter in season three. But I'm also not surprised that he's kinda a dick. Of course it's the mercantile empire dad who only sees his children as tools for his business. Speaking of children, Weiss's brother is extremely shifty. Like, the kind of shifty who says he's on your side, but at best is simply on his side, or at worse is on the "Good Intention" side, which typically involves some Lawful Evil "I am the Ubermech" type of nonsense. Butler seems legit though. Maybe @Ryonara's character should have Yue know him in some way. My brother tells me that the butler, in continuing the fairtale mofits, is suppose to represent the seven dwarves from Snow White's story, since he has separate personalities like angry, scared, etc. This is probs already confirmed and I'm just too slow on the update.

Blake's mom is cute, and her dad is huge. At least I think that's Blake's mom. Blake is at the age where she is a young woman herself, so it'd make sense for her to be as tall if not taller then her mother. Though due to the art style, Blake's mom looks really young, so she may actually be her sister. Who knows. Cute anyways.

Don't got much to say about Yang. I hope she gets back into the swing of things, but frankly I just don't know how. Maybe she'll go after Blake, or look for Ruby, or more likely trying to contact Weiss since at least Weiss is stuck at Atlus and not roaming the wilderness like the other two.

Kinda curious about what happened to the others back at Beacon though, like Team CFVY and the rest of Team SSSN. I think Sun himself is with Blake, but who knows about the other two. That and the Beacon staff like Glynda and the rest. I'd imagine that they're doing damage control in the ruins of Beacon, but who really knows?
