Ame blinked hard. "Rowan, she's in the Witch Asylum just outside of Rifthold." She fumbled at the saddlebag, trying to get herself out of it. In exasperation she just teleported herself out and onto the ground. "I'm going to go find her. You'll hear from me in less than three hours, I hope." With that, she teleported herself into the witches asylum, looking around. "Bloody hell, Celaena. I can see why you're scared." Loudly she shouted, "Celaena! Celaena Sardothien, where are you?" Climbing up stairs and peeking into rooms at patients babbling nonsense. She didn't trust her eyes, since Celaena would have switched into an entirely different body.
Aery tried to fight back against the pain. She could move around, or talk, normally, except for the pain. She screamed and screamed with every wave of it. And many of the spirits seemed to hear her, though they didn't cry out. It must be a thing to do with living.
"Hurts, doesn't it?" someone asked behind her. How odd, she could hear, in the spirit realm. "What'd you do to get down here, since you're so obviously still alive?"
She whirled to face the speaker. A teenaged boy, maybe 17 or 18, with brown hair, brown eyes, and a crooked half-smile. "A witch switched my soul with one of my... my... My little brother. He was killed by a murderer. Celaena and I were trying to find the killer, and then we met a witch named Ansel..." She trailed off as the boy walked right over to her, looming over her. "Celaena, did you say?" His voice was quiet and sad.
"Y-yes sir?"
"Give her my regards, would you? Tell her... Tell her that... Tell her that she cannot be afraid. Tell her that I'm at peace, and that the last mission was so utterly worth it."
"But how can I give her your regards if I don't know your name?"
"Sam Cortland. She'll know who I am." And then he sauntered away and left Aery to the pain gnawing away at her.
