Yes. I love my dramatic flair. Don't deny me my Power Ranger moment.

Also, it's pretty regular for a unit to acknowledge that they are standing by and ready when they're awaiting orders.

Fine.... I won't ruin your moment. I'll edit in the sound off. XD

Princess, does Alice's android body physically manipulate the controls of the MAS? Or does Alice just plug directly into the unit?

I feel like, even if her body is sitting inside the machine, she shouldn't have to actually manipulate the control sticks to control the MAS. It'd be far more efficient for her to just assume control of the MAS like it was another body- it would make her effectiveness in combat a lot more pronounced too. Instead of having the arguably less precise method of essentially relaying orders to her android body to relay orders to the MAS body

Hmm, I was thinking she'd pilot it physically, but also that her MAS's computers kind of connect with her so she sees what it sees, I guess? That does make sense though. Maybe it's like a combination of both?

But again, having her body work control sticks and pedals wouldn't really make sense. Humans need the control sticks because they need it to control the machine. Since Alice is an AI, she can physically control the body without need of sticks. So instead of having to use the controls to imperfectly simulate human movement, it'd be far smarter, efficient, and easier to just make human movements with the machine. - It would also be a good explanation for why she has such an edge over human pilots, on top of the fact that she doesn't feel G forces and the like.

I can see that, but I think again it's the thing with the purpose of the experiment. Like, we can already make AI to fly drones by themselves very efficiently, so I imagine it wouldn't be hard for the UEE to make a line of essentially what are UNACs: Mechs controlled directly by AI. But what about making an android, already more efficient in its own right, and see how well they can pilot the drone?

@DeadnautAnd Alice's body is not ready

I thought Alice's experiment was to see how AI could interact with humans? My idea when you introduced the concept of an AI was actually very similar to a UNAC, just with a personality and secondary android body for character development and interaction purposes.

The mentality for not making a android pilot a drone is "why try something new, when we can just make something good, better?"

Heh, I guess I shoulda explained it in more detail. But what I guess would have been going through the scientists' head was "We have droids, we have mechs. How well could the former pilot the latter?"

Also, I apologize if I'm being difficult or anything, I really don't mean to. This is your RP after all

What I imagine life outside of war, maybe with crushes and stalkers, was something along the lines of this

EDIT: Huh, I'm surprise Yuu didn't get the order to bombard smaller enemy warships. She's not firing the 150 without being told what to target, or the permission to fire at anything she wanted.

Again, that sounds kind of unnecessary, such an experiment could've been done without putting the AI into a field state with humans. If you wanted to test an droid's effectiveness in combat, just put it in a simulation, and have it fight off human pilots until it fails, rinse, repeat.

On the other hand, if you are testing the effectiveness of the AI along the interactions it has with its human counterparts and how they react to the AI, then there would be a reason to put Alice into a field test with other pilots. So thats how I'm going to rule it.

I don't mean to sound mean, and I'm sorry if it feels like I am nit-picking, but I had been under the impression that this had been sorted out before the RP started. Being an AI is different than being a human, so its going to play differently than a human. - thats supposed to be part of Alice's whole existential crisis isnt it?

Yeah, so like putting a droid in the position of a MAS pilot working with others in a team, and seeing how that works out?

And don't worry, it really is my fault for not communicating my ideas more clearly earlier, but I'm glad we're able to get on the same page in what I hope is still generally early in the RP

Alice isnt a droid though, she's an AI. Who just so happens to have been giving a surprisingly realistic body to inhabit when she's not moving a combat unit.

At least she has a body- and isn't stuck to being a floating globe like EDI for most of the Mass Effect series

Eh, I thought about that. But the thing is the Lincoln can handle most of the smaller ships that get thrown at it. With it providing heavy fire support as the captain indicated. Right now the main target are the two big guys that pose the most immediate threat to the Dock, the rest of the fleet and the Lincoln. So as a result I figured it was best to make sure those bombs got there. If you really want next post I can have Trapp throw in something along the lines of "Oh, and Yuu before I forget Weapons free" but that's really up to you.

That and I've been advised that breaking up the party is not a good thing.... Bad things happen when you do. XD

Yeah, that's true. Just to make sure, when Alice goes in her MAS, she'll have to switch her consciousness to the mech?

Yes, her body can sit in the MAS, but she essentially switches her consciousness to the mech, controlling it with her 'mind' and whatnot. Good thing she doesn't feel pain.

Alrighty, got it. That gives more credence to the Eagle being designed more for her, since a meatbag wouldn't be able to pilot it
