Very true. Hoping to hear something in the rumormill. On the other hand, I would have to miss that appointment with the Thayan historian.

I'll post after I'm off shift detailing his decision-making process, and actions taken to look for temp work. Then of course, the matter of Meriv's note.

@SigilI haven't read that you have any intentions of you doing so, so I didn't include any options for it. I act based on what you tell me you want to do.

Yeah, this isn't exactly sit-down D&D where I can tell you as I go along. Unless you're psychic. (What number am I thinking of right now?)

As I cannot count on you having amazing mental superpowers, here's the plan for the remainder of the evening for Keystone:

Leave the enclave, treat himself to a drink or three and a good meal. Speak to the locals, get an idea what's going on with the rumormill and possible areas of lucrative employment, above board (what kind of work could a man in his position get on the quick?) or his old standby of underground brawling.

Sleep on it, check the paper Meriv gave him, and see what opportunities the day may bring. The next day will likely involve Dwarf hunting.

I'll make an IC post to that effect shortly.

The funny thing is, it was 42.

Concerning the work offered, I had the oddest idea of accepting both jobs. Then I could cram both the merchant's inventory and the girls into a room with a bucket and slide a pancake under the door every now and again to keep their strength up. Protect both interests at the same time. Two birds, one stone.

Or not. Mostly not. Yeah, we're going with not.

N'mind. Though I do get the feeling I'd have made an ok villain.

@SigilYou don't know the half of it. I may or may not be using you as a villain in a different RP.

And you'll find your job situation has been made easier.

It was the trick with the candle, wasn't it?

That oddness aside, taking the merchant's offer would effectively make him miss his appointment with the Thayan historian. Don't get me wrong, he has serious misgivings about dealing with wizards in the first place, so it's probably not a total loss. Money is money, after all, and supplies will be necessary when he figures out where he's going next. If he's going anywhere for a bit.

If I didn't know any better, your last post would lead me to believe that Glith is some kind of demigod with Kaylee nearby. I'm glad I can foster that kind of fear.

Hey, still on the Enclave side of the barrier, hands on weapons, surreptitiously. Not entirely stupid.

The distance is too great for him to cover in a short enough span of time to give surprise. Messing with his head may buy time, or possibly make him more suggestible now that he's in a weakened state. Then again, Keystone's low CHA may be a hindrance in this endeavor. If the tactic fails, no harm done, Glith knows he's coming anyway. If it succeeds, he might be able to part him from his weapon without having to wrestle the undead bastich for it.

If Glith thinks he's a complete and utter moron, there's still no harm done. He already wants to do unwholesome things to Keystone, possibly involving his nethers and smithing tools. I'm mostly just buying time and moving closer.

So, can Keystone actually see the four guys with crossbows, or is this detail added to build suspense?

Not sure how this would alter the perception of the soldiers, but Keystone's robe shouldn't be messed up. It's in the post - while he was talking smack to the dead guy, he removed his pack, armor, robe, knives, and hat, laying everything down on top of the sword. (Plan was, if Glith got past him it would take a couple seconds to get to his sword. Maybe it'd be enough to help, maybe it wouldn't.)

The flip side to the above argument is, if this is necessary to advance the storyline or channel Keystone in the appropriate direction, GM has final authority on the workings of the pseudo reality that is the RP. He can always take a needle to the robe when he has a breathable moment.

As for his gold, well... earlier posts had him carrying most of his money in his pack. I did not specify this time where he was keeping it after the outfit change and re-equipping, nor is it mentioned exactly where he keeps it on his CS. So N'mind. Will make appropriate changes on the CS, and will be more specific in the future.

I presumed you'd have put the robes back on after displaying them on the sword, and they would be drenched and tattered after you took them through a crowd. But that's no major plot point, can be changed. You're still rather ragged looking, full of cuts and bruises, so I have enough to work with.

It's not required to advance the storyline. You decide where you want to go, I flesh out the world, next to the little storyline of Kaylee and her Tin Can Guardian. It's like GTA. If you spend the next two pages screwing around in Telflamm, get a wife and have some kids, who am I to judge?

Heck, if you're wandering around topless, that's even better for the story.

Hmm, I envisioned as the gold being carried in a purse somewhere close to the top of the pack, which an experienced thief would be able to spot(a novice you'd have seen due to your backstory).

I'll change the post a bit to focus on you being bloody and battered instead of your clothing. Thanks for bringing this up!

EDIT: Done. Seems like the tattered robes were only mentioned once, so it was an easy fix.

He's not the family type, this stage in his life. Maybe when his cranium in single occupancy only and everything isn't out to get him. Likewise, not topless. Ragged wounds would draw the wrong kind of attention, though with his present get-up he can't hide his upper arms too well.

Ok, moving on. Post up later today.

Point is, you drive the story just as much as I do. I have no interest in shoehorning or railroading you; it's the presence of a thinking player that makes the game fun.
