Miller moved off his plate being hit by a gust of the gas as it pushed it off the vent as he moved towards the door. Instead of trying to push in and grab the door like the other two were he picked up the staff weapon Ariadne had deposited on the ground when she moved to open the door and moved it through the door to act as leverage. He then pulled back on it as the door began to open even more and he could feel the sterile air from earlier begin to intermix with the gas from the small control room and he presumed from other life support vents elsewhere in the ship. As the door finally budged open he moved out into the corridor, after trying to hold his breath for so long once in the corridor he gulped down the, mostly, clean air of the corridor as he looked down it to see at least one additional bulkhead closed ten metres down. Obviously all Milton had managed to do was unlock the door and the other bulkheads moved up so that would be interesting.

He looked over for any sign of a gas coming into the corridor and sighed slightly as he saw a small vent putting the gas out into the corridor. “On the bright side it will take slightly longer for this corridor to fill up, what we need is a way off this ship, it will take too long to raise those bulkheads even if we get the power back online that could only make things worse.” He looked around the corridor before turning to Ariadne.

“How do those… ring thingies work? Not the Stargate I’ve used them before the other ones. That the Goa’ulds use. I’ve seen them but not used them before.”

Ariadne was slightly surprised at the mention of using rings. She’d seen no Ring platforms here so far and they usually weren’t used by any but the Goa’uld or a few Ancient facilities. The corridor was filling with gas however, slowly but surely, and it seemed that all the possible exits were sealed off. She turned to Miller and hurriedly explained. “Rings would be of little use here, they require either a second platform, of which I see none, or fairly close proximity and an unobstructed path to the receiving platform. They can punch through some things but I do not think they could break through this hull.” She didn’t have any useful ideas to contribute though, so she simply took back her staff weapon and continued looking around for a way out, trying to keep Idalia calm as she did so. One thing was certain: time was not on their side.

Miller checked his rifle, and the staff. The staff was out of sight and out of mind in terms of the plan simply because it wasn’t going to be possibly to use it without the gas going on and everyone getting killed which would be detrimental. But his rifle, technically shouldn’t cause enough ignition to set it off, as it didn’t create great excess of heat. “We’re what, a couple of decks from the hull, surely we will be able to get up a couple of levels in order to get to the hull and then try and weaken it from our side? Would that allow the rings to punch through the hull?”

“It shouldn’t be that hard. I wouldn’t recommend the staff weapon or our P90’s for it though,” Milton said. “Bullets bounce, even if they are AP. I’d recommend putting C4 (or Semtex.. not sure what the brits use) in a diamond pattern,” Milton said. “The C4 is more of a sharp hard punch rather than a big fireball like they show in the movies. It does have a fire event but it’s pretty short. The blast wave should push the gasses out of the way. We can deliver the force right where we want it, to serve our needs,” he suggested.

Ariadne was not entirely familiar with the explosives suggested by Milton, but the idea he was suggesting sounded viable. Rings would be able to punch through a sufficiently weakened hull. There was still a problem with the idea though. “I hate to be the one to point this out, but how will we get to the deck closest to the hull? I do not imagine the elevators will co-operate. They are probably already filled with gas anyway.”

Miller paused for a minute. “Elevators won’t be working is understandable but we don’t need them to work. What we need to work is the elevator shaft and you cannot exactly break the shaft itself. We simply open it up and climb up the shaft to the top and then blow a hole. While bulkheads are designed to be protected against explosions average walls in the ship should not be reinforced and as such we should be able to work our way through the ship until we get to the elevator shafts. Logically they shouldn’t be too far away or too hard to find. C4 as Milton said should work without causing the gas to explode as long as we get there before the ship fills up too much with gas and even the slightest flame could burn us all to ash.” He moved to look back into the control room however did not bother to go in for they had seen everything they needed to see and the best way to take out the beacon would be to blow it up.

Miller walked back into the hallway and then tapped his radio piece. “Tempest Control this is Strike One, requesting to speak with Tempest Actual. We have a bit of an, odd, request to make off you and it isn’t going to be entirely easy.”

Nodding slowly, Alexis ordered a sensor sweep of the area the blip appeared in. "We've had too many 'coincidences' already. Let's not push our luck. Other than the sensor sweep don't do a thing. If something is there, let it think we don't know." she murmured. With TS-1 on the ground, the sudden lack of things to do reminded her of the times when her sub went on silent mode. She thought now might be a good time to go talk to Mr. McClellan about some changes she wanted to make concerning personnel, but the comms rang just as she was about to leave. Routing the call to her earpiece, she opened the channel: "This is West, how may we be of assistance?" she asked, mentally cringing at the suggested oddity of the request. There was enough "odd" on this mission to fill several reports, and they only just started.

Miller could almost hear the cringe from the Captain over the earpiece, another odd request wasn't exactly what she would be wanting to hear right now nor what anyone else would be wanting to hear. He looked at the others trying to look positive as he spoke to the Captain, as she could always say no and that wouldn't exactly be the best thing that she could do right now. "We need to find an easy way out of the ship away from the gas and the best thing we can think of is the use of the rings. Ariadne informs me that it won't be able to break through the hull of the ship. I suggest that the Tempest fly in close to make a direct transport and we will manage to weaken or even break the hull in order to be beamed up. I acknowledge that this will require some risky movements after the ship has been damaged however I cannot see another way out of this and nor can anyone else. If we weren't worried about the possibility that this gas was flammable it would be an easy fix however this may be our only way out of this. It is your call Captain."

Bishops eyes fluttered below his eyelids, his heart rate increased slightly however he did not awake. His brain activity also began to spike (if it is being monitored).

Alexis took a deep breath. She was certain this assignment would be the end of her. What she was always proud of was the fact that she didn't lose a single soldier under her command. This mission already blown that away and now destiny demanded more lives from her. She wanted to help the ground team, but if the hull wasn't up to it... No. It will be. Pushing a button on her console, she connected to engineering: "Are we up to entering the atmosphere?" she asked in a tone that relayed all she wanted to hear was 'yes, ma'am'.

Her mind started going through other options just in case the ship wouldn't be able to handle it yet. The problem was apparently that the signal from the beaming locators couldn't penetrate the derelict's hull. They didn't necessarily need to be closer, just relay and boost the signal. Switching the comms to open another line, she called to scientific department: "I need Dr. Bishop or anyone else who can tell me how far along the RF-302 is." she demanded, hoping it's sensors would be up to the task if the Tempest wasn't.
