Right now, the best I can think of, besides someone trained to handle an HH-15 missile launcher, is someone to hump a pack radio like the old school stuff from the Vietnam era. That isn't because Star Wars comm tech isn't good, it's because we're talking larger ranges. Entire planets, surface to orbital communications and similar situations that probably require a more sophisticated linkup with the Intruder.

I wrote up Lt. Byron, sorta figuring we'd need a dumb LT to murder at some point and I was uniquely qualified to draw one up. But if you're leaning that way for your character, we can bump him down to some sort of Midshipmen role, or just a junior-grade role of some sort.

Basically what I'm saying is I'm not desperate to keep him around in the role described, we can work around it. Though there are other vacancies that HeySeuss is talking about that probably need filling, too.

Seems like an awesome idea to me. But why only on settling disagreements, why not just for fun? :P

Besides that, Hayca places bets on how long it'll take before the rookies bite the dust, would Keller (or any member of the "Liberators") be a person who would partake in such bets?

I imagine it depends on which unit of the Alliance you're talking about, but the Alliance is generally friendlier toward serving women than the Empire. But the Uslam Liberators are formed out of a labor union and come from a place descended from Mandalorians, so they're probably a lot calmer about women in combat as a cultural inheritance from four thousand years ago.

Also gotta remember not all these new recruits are from Ulsam, that's the group she's walking through and the group on the station Ruby has been interacting with. I think the Alliance did have a higher percentage of women but it still wasn't equal.
