He's more of a support role but thats the role I prefer and I can get hands on when needed.I want it known that his blaster skills don't extend anywhere beyond that of an average pilots training; point, aim, shoot.

Yeah, the pirates, like Slooga, are not the focus of the RP. Characters need to be members of the platoon. If your character wants to go from pirate to platoon, that works, though I'm not sure how it'd work if he were intruder crew. Maybe they took him as a replacement when he pissed off Slooga, and the platoon was like, "Welp, he's army. So he's our concern, not yours."

While the character would fit in strongly if this were based on the ship and a pirate crew, I think I need to stick with the original line that this is an RP about the platoon and that your character, as stands, would be good supporting cast, but I don't want to have to stretch the narrative thin writing him into the RP or with lots of lag times between moments when he is relevant.

That's generally why I want characters to be a part of 1st Platoon, formally (or droids owned by them, though we've cut that off at what we have.)

It's a good character as a supporting cast, but doesn't make sense as a member of the 1st Platoon.

Don't worry about writing ins for me, I can manage that myself and in fact plan for him to eventually become less of a pilot and more of a boots on the ground guy. Through either choice or necessity. I can also keep myself entertained if this doesn't happen quickly without causing problems for anybody else.

What I'm saying is that I want an actual member of the platoon, not some cool outsider running around its fringes. It's why I downchecked the bounty hunter, too.

He's not an outsider, not really. Especially when you think of the fact so far this platoon is made up off 3 soldiers, 2 engineers a droid and an intelligence agent...

I'll work on a medic though then.

Are you basing the military structure off of the United States? If so, then there's far more than one sergeant in a platoon. I'll give an oversimplification:

Sergeant (E-5) Generally a team leader, which usually consists of 4-5 soldiers. Can be a squad leader, though that is rarer.

Staff Sergeant (E-6) Squad leader, which consists of 2 or more teams, sometimes fills the role of a platoon sergeant.

Sergeant First Class (E-7) Platoon Sergeant, and the highest ranked NCO in the platoon, assists the LT

Corporals are a rarely used rank because the E-5 rank has mostly taken over their role, but technically Corporals are NCOs as well. However, it may that you're not using the US Army as inspiration, and if that's the case, I'd like to see some basic rank structure so I have an idea how the platoon chain of command works, and so forth. With that said, I saw the LT with the label of "NPC" in the CS section. If mdk doesn't mind, I won't mind making my own LT if he's just going to written off what he made as a mere NPC, once everything is cleared up.

This is an RP set in a fictive SciFi universe and we'd be lucky to get half of the people needed to form an actual platoon...

Besides that, SW military is based on the British military.

I'm aware of that fact, and I'm hardly looking for all those slots to be filled. Just saying that I'm not aware of what the actual rank structure that is being used here, so I would like that out in the public. Besides, everyone's a corporal, which is kind of goofy (though quite a few didn't mention their rank so I'm just assuming).

There are 2 corporals and one sgt. The rest are all pvt... except for that one LT who is an NPC for story reasons.. I think.

That being said I am not a GM so anything I say could be false unfo

No, you've got it. And I realize this doesn't conform to the system the actual US Army uses, and that's for a reason -- it's Star Wars. Rank structure, as necessary, can be added in at a later date. Furthermore, and @Roadrash will be the first to tell you this if he decides to join, Corporals do get a lot of use in the United States military; the Marine Corps puts that rank to use.

But right now, we're running off the rank structure provided by Wookieepedia, with the option to fill it out later...should that become particularly necessary. One of the things this RP runs off of is an inspiration of Heinlein, who avoided getting too bogged down in the minutiae. Should elements of the minutiae become necessary, it's not hard to consult one of the several service veterans in here to insert as necessary. ;)

Of course, just looking for some method for the madness. And if not the LT I was actually looking to be a senior NCO, but if you're not going for that, then fair enough.

I think that with the current amount of players we have enough NCOs, but that's just my opinion and I havent even posted my CS yet... :P

Speaking about that, I'll have it up tomorrow. It's 1:24am here so I'm headinv off :)

I'm always open for a role that needs filled, just shooting some ideas around. As it appears, they're treating Ruby's character as the platoon sergeant, and the only thing under that is corporals, which there are plenty of those.

Right now, the best I can think of, besides someone trained to handle an HH-15 missile launcher, is someone to hump a pack radio like the old school stuff from the Vietnam era. That isn't because Star Wars comm tech isn't good, it's because we're talking larger ranges. Entire planets, surface to orbital communications and similar situations that probably require a more sophisticated linkup with the Intruder.
