Compact.
noun
1. a formal agreement between two or more parties, states, etc.; contract:
the proposed economic compact between Germany and France.
This is a modern version of the world where there are vampires. There have always been vampires, but somewhere a hundred or two years ago, the species were officially confirmed to exist, rather than just being rumors and legends. It turns out werewolves are real too.
Initially, there was misunderstanding and war between humans and supernaturals, but eventually a worldwide group was formed to enforce peace between them. It was called SOLDIER.
SOLDIER consisted of both humans and a few vampires who fought to promote peace. They enforce the "Blood Compact," which basically states that nobody can kill anybody on either side. Vampires obviously have a lot more trouble with this, so SOLDIER usually ends up going after vampire contract-breakers. Humans are obviously easier to catch and can be held for trial, etc. Vampires... if they are too dangerous, get executed. Such is life.
In the USA, SOLDIER is strong and keeps the peace. It's mostly run by humans and is rumored among vampire kind to be corrupt. Mithias is a vampire who worked for them for a very long time. There was a recent rebel vampire attack on Kilo Point SOLDIER base in Tennessee. Lady Mohowauuck, an oldblood vampire of the Native American people, and Hale, a werewolf reject, were involved with the uprising.
Lord Bedivere is the secret hand that rules the United Kingdom behind the scenes. The UK is said to be "free of vampires," except for a few that are supposedly registered and obedient to the law, etc. It's really a country run by vampires in secret. Bedivere is an old knight of Camelot, which has an interesting lore in this rp as an ancient vampire kingdom, long story.
Then there's also the Purge. Purge is like the KKK. They hate everybody, they are purists and zealots and want to obliterate all non-humans off the planet. They exist in all countries, and get funding, weapons, and support from a lot of backdoor vampire haters. The do terrorist attacks, will kill humans who side with vampires, and often have some very anti-vampire tech weapons.
Werewolves in this RP live in the extreme north and are very territorial and pack oriented. They don't tend to venture south into human territory, don't tend to be alone, and value strength and fitness among themselves and their enemies. They have very long lifespans but are not immortal, they can be turned or give birth to new werewolves. A half-werewolf is a still a werewolf, and there could be vampire werewolves.
You can play a human, a werewolf, a hybrid, a vampire, and chose to side with whatever fact you wish. You can be completely freelance too. I'm also allowing scifi technology, machines, vehicles, weapons, cyborgs, and robots. Knock yourself out.
Recently, there was a secret meeting of the elder vampires, the lords of each bloodline, and they are deciding whether or not to enslave humanity. We're taking the story from that point.
Be as powerful as you want. I'll cap it if I think it's too crazy, but ask for whatever. My only stipulation is to try to keep things "believable." ie. pick powers that have some kind of sciency-bullshit explanation for how they work. No unicorns, fairies, dragons, complete invisibility, or teleportation. Now, I know we already have characters who seriously bend these rules, but just ask for what you want.
In general, holy shit works on vampires. Every bloodline is different. Most vampires can handle sunlight.
