Also, I realize I made a misjudgment and assumed medical technology stays crappy throughout the next 300 years. I am saying this because while making this post, I was in a lecture on futurism, and, well, let's just say the most progressive futurist in my country assumes that in 100 years, all doctors will be robots and we will be printing prosthetics and organs in 3d printers. And our phones will be wired into our bodies. (And also because of @t2wave's reference to corrective surgery, but Chris does have a good reason for the glasses! Well, at least now he does)

To not completely ruin the fun of this game, I am going to assume none of the above will happen. But I will move on to more advanced med-tech. I will assume that prison simply has crappy junk because they don't really care, and Chris hasn't finished unpacking.

We make this universe. Phones will be small, want them to be wired in? Add them. There also will be V.I doctors but people always like the human touch.

In terms of choosing V.I over AI? It's because even now adays theres a lot of controversy over the subject. This isn't set in OUR future, I mean it is alternate to a degree. I mean in this the first colonists go to mars in 2030, they aren't sure if that will happen here.

@t2wave, speaking of timezones, I wish to discuss your character's power, issues of flavoring in particular. I have a few questions of extreme cases I would like to address:

1. The power's use on objects: is it limited to an area or particular objects? If area, what happens to a person that put their arm in? What happens to things that get thrown in from outside?

2. Does the power interact with light? If so, there are going to be some horrible EM distortions on its edge. If not, what's the point of affecting an area?

3. Depending on the answer to 2, how does it interact with energy weapons or energy discharges?

4. How does it interact with psychic powers?

Me and him discussed thrown in, as long as the area is being maintained the object should be affected.

We actually didn't discuss the other options.

I just created the idea that he manipulated it in a localized field. It's more along the lines off (The way I was meaning, and thought T2 was saying) Was that the time for all objects are different. If you're in the field, Edith slows it down. She'll move normally and everything else is slow, if you are slowed down as far as you are aware it's Edith that's moving really fast (From outside the field Edith will move normally, everyone else will be slow). Speeding up, inside everything will appear normal, but from outside everything will seem to be going faster.

This is what I took away from our discussions, though I was mainly working on making sure the power didn't become OP. I'll let T2 respond now.

Also don't you love malicious but uncertain threats? You could have taken the Generals comment several different ways :P

I like leaving things open ended for the players to play with. I mean you are players, what's the fun if I just force you down a specific path?

I am in the Central Standard Timezone (CST -6:00).

1. The edges were something we talked about. The simplest way to prevent something from being ripped or smashed on contact was to say that if someone were to put their arm in then it would effect them as a whole. Sort of extending around them so they are within the affect.

2. I would say so. I suppose something that I considered was using the ability on a camera. Let me see if this makes sense. Slow down a camera. The camera sees a compressed span of time as the light slows down heading to the camera. On the other end is a feed going out to security. The electrical signal sends packets of 120fps video. But since it is slowed down they are only getting small slideshow clips of the blurred light (think multiple exposure) as each signal exits the field and moves on its way.

3. It should. But given the relatively small area and the speed at which electricity and light travel it wouldn't be that significant of a difference. At least I would not think. I'm not trying to break everything so I suspend disbelief.

4. In what manner? Precognition? Mind reading? Since the speed at which a psychic can make a connection is impossible to calculate then I will say that it is such an insignificant difference that it doesn't matter. Either way will depend on the perspective just like how something is perceived to move fast. In theory a precog is seeing things from some angle so it would depend on if things are fast or slow and if they are seeing from inside or out. Now mind reading is an interesting one. If one is reading thought then they are in theory getting whatever signals the neurons in the target's brain are sending. If we were to speed up time by 1000 on the target then the mind reader would be getting a flood of signals that probably would make it difficult to filter through.

Alright. So the power affects objects as a whole, without affecting the space between them. The light this power interacts with is only the light that hits said affected objects.

As for psychic powers, as long as the issue gets any kind of attention I think anything can work.

I am going to have to think about the theory of general relativity, but I think this is pretty solid.

I have insinuated this however I shall post it here for good measure. If anyone has ideas for sub-plots feel free to run them left right and centre, as long as the weave of plots doesn't get too complicated :P

Think of this like Skyrim/Fallout. Yes there is an underlining plot, but whats that over there?
