Warhammer 40,000 - Chasing Chaos

The room was quiet, the silence only broken by the soft footsteps of leather boots stepping across the charred plasteel. All across the room bodies were strewn about guardsmen’s faces locked in their final moments of terror and agony. A single pysker was pinned to the wall by a huge power sword that cracked with chaotic energies, a hand still held onto the pommel, but there was nobody left to claim the hand as it’s own. Inquisitor Dantaya stopped in front of an altar that lay broken in half the prize she had come for pulled free and laying on the floor wide open. The tome was older written by one of the Grey Knight’s order thousands of years ago. She kneeled down and flipped through the pages searching and hoping that the main reason this book had been kept under such heavy guard was still there. Then she came to it, the page that held the name. It was gone ripped from the tome.

Slowly standing up she turned towards the door where a storm trooper stood. Stepping back across the room at a much quicker pace than she had before Dantaya stepped out into a dimly lit hallway and looked down at a stormtrooper. The man was young, but hardened by years of battle and training. She took a deep breath. “Go to the astropath. Send a message to Inquisitor Elman Caphus… The book of Kaphaesus has been tampered with. We no longer have the true name.”

Welcome to the world of Warhammer 40,000 a fantastic universe where all hope seems lost. Only heroes are the small glints of light in the darkness of space. We will be following the adventures of several inquisitorial acolytes and their Inquisitor in a quest to stop a Chaos cult from bringing back a infamous, and powerful Daemon who had been banished to the warp.This quest will take them across the stars, planet to planet, tracking this cult through the murky underbelly of hive cities and across burnt and scarred battlefields.

This RP will allow players to take the roles of acolytes which gives them a range of choices from Stormtroopers, Sisters of Battle, Mechanicus etc. I will say this though Xenos characters will NOT be allowed. I know this is disappointing for some, but this RP is purely Imperium based as far as the PCs. I will be limiting players to non Astartes characters due to the power balance between the them and other Acolytes.

Notable Deeds: Elman has encountered Daemons many times throughout his life as not only a apprentice acolyte, but even more as he earned the title of Inquisitor for himself.His abilities to find those who truly helpful in hunting down the forces of the warp. His most notable efforts were the stopping of several cults from bringing forth warp storms and greater Daemons that would have ravaged entire sectors.

He finally earned his Daemon hammer after arriving to late to stop a cult from summoning a Greater Daemon of Nurgle. He slew the beast after speaking it’s name and banishing it from the world, the only reason this was to come though was because his Acolytes fought the creature while he searched through his Grimoire. They all died, for the greater cause of destroying the Daemon Asyphonamikosus.

Psyker Power
Divination & Telekinesis are her main fields of psychic talent, but she also possesses two other abilities such as Smite and Storm of Lightning, as well as a rudimentary form of mental communication. Does not possess any noteworthy healing abilities, and she is just as likely to send someone to the warp as she is to heal a minor scratch.

Appearance:
5.8ft tall, pale skin and snow white hair. Sturdy and heavy frame, but still retains her feminine figure despite adhering to a strict physical training regime.

The base of her outfit consist of a simple yet elastic skin tight jumpsuit in dark brown color that is capable of withstanding the vacuum of space as well as provide a decent protection against the elements, though offers little protection versus physical threats. Overlayed on top is a series of armaplas plates that form a chestguard, cuisses, knee-high boots, shoulderpads and gloves stretching back and up to her elbows where they form into a sharp point. They offer good locational protection, especially from the front, but leave her jumpsuit exposed in other places, particularly from her lower back and down to the back of her knees where her boots cover both sides of her ankles. The plates are polished to a light gray color, and almost look like silver. The surface is covered with a series of intricate design and artwork in typical imperial fashion, featuring numerous flutes and ridges across the plates, as well as a couple skull imprints. Above her armor she wears a satin blue silk cloak that hangs down from the back of her left shoulder, as well as a silk loincloth hanging from the front of her belt of similar color. Thrown sideways around her torso is a series of books and scrolls attached by chain.

Running up along the spine of her chestguard is a refractor field generator built into the plate itself, taking form of a small generator emitting a series of horizontal, blue lights up along the back of the chestplate, and shaped much like a human skeletal spine. When activated, a faint, blue and almost invisible barrier appears around her figure.

Her helmet is made out of the same material as that of her armor, and it takes the form of a gothic plated helmet, with a narrow but wide blue glass visor and a longer neck guard extending out behind her helmet. Two plastic tubes are attached to a rebreather device at the bottom mouth piece of her helmet, that stretch out on each side of her neck and down into a small, highly pressurized air tank built into the back of her chestguard.

Her boots are magnetic, and her entire suit when worn enables her to survive in space, and also provides immunity to most chemical and biological attacks. She carries enough oxygen to last for almost an hour.

Equipment:

Main Weapon: Her primary weapon is a two handed power-weapon in the form of an oversized saber with a sleek blade and an extended handle which doubles as a psyker staff, and adorned with sigils, trinkets, technological gadgets and inscriptions. She often uses her weapon in conjunction with her telekinetic powers to amplify its destructive potential.

Sidearm: Slug pistol. Heavy caliber, but only has a magazine size of max seven rounds. Carries two additional Magazines.

Ceremonial Dagger. In essence, just a normal albeit flashy dagger with an adorned handle. Typically only carried for show, but is sharp enough to slice through unprotected skin with ease, and small enough to be concealed without much problem.

Servo-Skull: Mostly used to store events, data, recordings and scrolls.

Notable Deeds, Traits and Events
Savior – Saved an influential nobleman by foreseeing his assassination, tossing him out of the way of the sniper’s bullet with her telekinetic powers and into a big wedding cake instead.
Guide – Saved a band of arbiters from the underworld of a hive world during an uprising by using her powers of divination to avoid the roaming mobs and gangs and reached safety without incident. Not a single shot was fired during their escape.
Hates Surprises – Accidentally electrocuted and sent three of the arbiters she had saved above to the infirmary when they tried to surprise her with a party later. Being so used to foresee danger before it happens, she is prone to freaking out over minor surprises that eludes her farsight.
Fireteam – During an Ork incursion, she helped a fireteam of six guardsmen hold off a much larger band of orks after their sergeant was injured through using her powers of divination to guide their fire, turning what had been originally green recruits into seemingly crack shots. Any Ork that left its cover was immediately put down from long range, and when they mounted a frenzied charge together, they didn’t make it more than halfway across the field to the trenches before they were wiped out by precision fire.

Lucky sonofabitch:Early in his career Pherik was thrown from the Inquisitorial Valkyrie on an ork held world. The Inquisitor and others were surprised to see him 2 days later, with the head of the Mekboy who had been coordinating the ork's tellyporta arrays.
Argumentative Personality:After the declaration of Exterminatus on a populated world Pherik nearly came to blows with his inquisitor over what he considered, "an act of extreme immorality and stupidity". Rather than being executed like he expected, Pherik was moved to another Inquisitor's retinue.
Slave driver:Pherik and the squad of Stormtroopers he was with held off a small army of tyranids while an Inquisitor retrieved sensitive information from a doomed outpost for 3 days straight. Mainly because once the sergeant died Pherik took over and made sure none of his men slept, because if even one hadn't been shooting they'd all be dead.
Deathwish:On a chaos held forge world Pherik's squad was ordered to enter a large manufactorum that was heavily guarded and destroy it. Pherik took all the squads explosives befor the mission began and embarked on the suicidal run himself. Miraculously he escaped the explosion, and let the inquisitor know exactly what he thought of people who tried to throw away the lives of his men. He was again moved to another Inquisitor's retinue shortly thereafter.

Pherik embodies the nickname"old dog". He is gruff, grumpy and tough as old leather (he's just as ugly as an old dog to). His face is a mesh of scars, burns and other marks of serious injury. The bridge of his nose is permanently bent, giving him a crooked nose after an ork nob punched him in the face. His two saving graces are his emerald green eyes and full head of silver hair (which he keeps a bit longer than standard issue length). He often wears his officer's cap instead of his helmet, though switches when in toxic environments, after all, why deprive his men of seeing his pretty face?

Butcher: Rather brutally surpassed a worker´s riot on the hive world of Theber IV, when thousands of dissatisfied workers decided to rebel against imperial authorities. He publicly executed two hundred of dissidents, earning nickname Butcher among the local population.

Protector: Purged an unsanctioned Death cult of His merciful hand, infamous for burning down lazarets and hanging the sick, injured and homeless. During his fight with cult leader, Gabriel lost his left eye.

Vindicator: Led the strike team tasked with arresting rough Magos Biologis, also known as The Harvester, who tried to prove that flesh is as strong as any metal in a rather unpleasant way.

Law above all: Arrested and personally executed court marshal he served under for crime of abstaction. Although it was his holy duty to stop his paranoid superior, it left a huge stain on his career and if it wasn´t for the inquisitor, he would end up hunting mutants on some backwater planet.

Trooper Gregor Mekel

Name: Gregor Mekel
Age: 27
Class: Guardsman

Equipment:
-Carapace Armor, a kitbash if anyone has ever seen one. Gregor combined Cadian "Kasrkin" Pattern Stormtrooper armor with Tempestus Scion armor. He uses the Kasrkin bodyarmor and pauldrons, while using the Scion greaves, gauntlets and helmet. The backpack is from the Scion armor set. Despite the occasional complaint from the local Techpriest, this kitbashed armor does not seem to hate Gregor, instead, the armor has saved his life on numerous occasions. Gregor keeps his armor gunmetal black with a steel grey trim. To cut down on weight, he has excluded the armor that covers his thighs. The Inquisition I can be seen on his left boot, and his pauldrons. The carapace armor includes a microbead for communication, photovisor(NightVision), rebreather, and an integral auspex with a wrist display. While most wrist mounted auspex are mounted on the topside of the wrist, Gregor has opted to flip it and mount it on the bottom side of his left arm. This allows him to keep his Meltagun up and gives him the ability to look at his auspex with only a glance.
-Accatran Pattern Mark VIII Meltagun, Gregor prefers the Accatran Mk.VIII over other Meltaguns due to its lighter weight, and the addition of a carrying handle. He has a bandoleer with several melta canisters on it. On his left hip is some webbing, he typically has two or three canisters strapped there too.
-A shortsword and Combat knife, the sword sheath is mounted at his lower back. He has an additional standard issue Imperial Guard combat knife, strapped to his left pauldron, used for when things get really bad, or he's in a space too small for his sword.
-A Mars Pattern Mark IV Command Laspistol, right hip holster. He uses the slightly heavier Mars Mk.IV due to its increased range. Since if there is no armor for him to blast, he's not going to waste any Melta charges on mere cultists, he's going to use a regular gun. Usually keeps his spare chargepacks wherever he can put them, pockets, on some combat webbing, sometimes strapped onto his gauntlets or even his boots. The amount of chargepacks he has usually ends up at around four or five, not including the one in the pistol.
-Explosives, Gregor usually carries several Meltabombs in his backpack, he uses them like bricks of C4. He also usually carries one or two frag grenades somewhere on his body within easy reach.

Notable Deeds/Skills:
-Survivor of Operation Grey Gold. Operation Grey Gold was a mission lead by Inquisitor Caphus into rebel territory. Inquisitor Caphus needed to investigate if the rebels were dealing with Chaos. He requisitioned a platoon of nearby Guardsmen to help him punch through rebel lines. Gregor, having just been drafted into the Guard was among the Guardsmen who were in that platoon. That was his first mission, at 18 years old. At the end of Operation Grey Gold, only three of the platoon had survived. Gregor was one of the three. Rather than letting them back into the Guard, Inquisitor Caphus recruited them into his retinue.
-Bane of Armor. Gregor has a knack for destroying armored units. Whether it be Dreadnoughts, Tanks, APCs, IFVs, planes, if its armored, Gregor probably knows how to kill it. He has spent weeks studying records of vehicles, so much so that if something new appears, he can look at it with only a glance and guess where its fuel tanks are, where the crew are sitting, where the ammo racks are held, and its possible weak points.
-AT Specialist. Gregor's knack for killing armored units has earned him access to much of the anti-tank weapons in the armory. He is an expert with the meltagun, and decent with rocket launchers. He is proficient with a lascannon, only because he spent much of his lascannon practice time having fun with heavy stubbers and heavy bolters.
-Creative. Gregor is a creative fellow. He once dressed up as a rebel and infiltrated a rebel camp, only to realize that the rebels were also chaos cultists. He may have nervously said some mildly heretical things to keep his cover, while he secretly planted bombs to distract the bulk of the enemy force. Ultimately his disguise failed when he accidentally blew up their latrines with one of the bombs he had planted.
-Veteran. Despite his somewhat unimpressive origins, having started out as an Imperial Guard Conscript, he has grown to become a combat veteran. Being just as elite as Stormtroopers. This is due to working with said Stormtroopers constantly, Gregor has picked up on their tricks, techniques, and has even received field training from some of them. Although field training is a little optimistic, it was more like dragging him around and yelling at him in the middle of battle, but he got the message.

Time with Inquisitor: 9 Years, Gregor's lost count of how many missions he's been on with Inquisitor Caphus.
Appearance:
Gregor stands at 5 feet, 7 inches. His skin is a little on the paler side since he got his carapace armor. His black hair is kept in a military styled buzzcut. His eyes are brown in color. As a Guardsman, he is fit and strong, able to carry all of his equipment and walk around for as long as his Inquisitor needs him to without getting too tired. He is also capable of sprinting with all of his gear, which is particularly useful when he's going to blast a tank or a daemon. His face is unscarred and he looks a little younger than he actually is.
To be honest, out of his carapace armor, he looks like a typical guardsman. Nothing really spectacular.

Alright, got the CS finally done.

Name: Alexei Stukov

Age: 44

Class: Naval Senior Armsman

Equipment:
Light Carapace Armor - Stukov cannot afford to be weighed down in the tight, fast moving brawl of a boarding action, repelling or engaging in, so the only real piece of armor the Senior Armsman wears is a reinforced Carapace chestplate, which also includes his backpack of ammo and oxygen for his rebreathing kit, a model capable of sealing against loss of oxygen, although true void exposure won't make him last long, due to the sheer cold of the Void.

Lucius pattern Mk 22c Shotgun - The shotgun of choice for Stukov, this eight round revolving magazine lets him slam through shells at a frightening rate, with a heavy cartridge that shreds through most enemies not wearing heavy, quality Carapace. And this assumes hits on any given armor's strong points. Like many shotguns, plenty of various ammo types exist for his shotgun, and while Stukov carries plenty of slug and buckshot, he carries a handful of Hellfire and blessed buckshot for handling Daemons in specific. Stukov has no problem using whatever ammo he can get his hands on, or issued for a given mission.

Foehammer - Known by its more humble name the Shotgun Pistol, Stukov uses this as a backup when his larger, bulkier shotgun isn't an option. Unlike his Mk 22c, it is a single shot per load weapon that he usually loads with oversized slug. This is for the reason that if he needs to hit something a distance off, he doesn't need to waste time changing loads in his main gun, or his side arm. And if they are heavily armored, slug has a better chance to punch through than buckshot or most conventional ammo loads.

Combat Knife - Not much to be said for Stukov's knife, it is a fairly standard issue, single edge blade with a point for stabbing as well as slashing. Pretty much a last resort when both his sidearm and main shotgun are of no use to him in a situation.

Flash Grenades x2, Concussion Grenades x2 - Flash Grenades, true to their name, emit a blinding flash of light that blinds both organic and mechanical means of sight for a period of time, making them easy targets so long as they were not protected from the effects. Concussion grenades utilize a shockwave that, while it does little real damage to ship structure or hull, the sheer pressure of the shockwave and the din of noise ensures that, even if the pressure didn't kill a foe, they won't be hearing anytime soon.

Notable Deeds

Against All Odds: When he was a rookie Armsman aboard his first Imperial Navy vessel, during a transit in the warp the Gellar fields failed and hordes of daemons poured into various breaches in the hull across the Cruiser. Whether it was divine intervention from the God Emperor himself, or sheer stubborn determination from the surviving crew, the Cruiser was able to emergency shift back into real space and drive the remaining daemons and their slaves out the airlocks and back into oblivion where they belonged. The Cruiser suffered over 75% causalities, and could barely limp to the nearest Imperial holding.

Boots on the Ground: Rather than being left to sit around and wait for a new crew to be brought in, the Armsman Stukov was now reassigned to an Apocalypse Class Battleship, since she had recently seen vicious combat and had lost a fair number armsman, amongst other crew. One of his first assignments as part of the new crew was a shore party that was deployed to secure sensitive fleet records lost in a planet wide raid by Dark Eldar. Once again, most of his comrades were wiped out but he survived and personally hauled the reclaimed records back into orbit before the Orbital Bombardment vaporized all Dark Eldar that could be found.

Close Quarters Chaos: Earning his rate as a Senior Armsman, and the right and occurrence of leading junior Armsman into battle gains those that would stand against the Imperial Navy and her vessels. So his first tasking was as part of a wave of Assault craft, specifically the Shark Assault Boat. Under heavy interceptor and bomber escorts most of the first wave of Assault Boats reached their targets, a miracle in and of itself. Heavy casualities were sustained as Stukov rallied any and all Imperials he could find and stormed the bridge of the craft. When challenged to a duel for control over the vessel, he shot the enemy captain cleanly, taking his head off as a fine mist. The following chaos as Stukov led his men back to the boats, leaving the enemy ship in chaos as it fought itself for control as several friendly Imperial vessels bombarded the craft into oblivion the moment its shields failed.

Not one Step Further: The Battleship he was assigned to came under heavy fire and was badly damaged, suffering a force re-entry into the nearby plant and crashing down behind a long forgotten temple to the Emperor. After the survivors took refuge there, they had to hold out until either the Battleship's surviving engines could be overloaded, finishing the beast off beyond any salvage hope, or help arrived. With nowhere to run or hide, Stukov rallied the remaining combat capable men and women, armed them, and held out as long as possible, far longer than anyone short of even an Astartes could consider thanks to tactics and a desperation coupled with nothing to lose. The survivors were saved by passing Inquisitorial vessels, introducing Stukov to work with the Inquisition and, eventually, Inquisitor Caphus himself.
