If they are invisible to normal then how can non-magical girls see them such as Madoka for most of the show?

Sure they can 'sense' each other but only while they are in magical girl form or using their power. It is possible to hid from a Magical Girl you have never met, (Kyoko did it, I think) besides Amara has a plan, hehehe....

Edit: it is only confirmed that Contractors cannot be seen by normals.

Don't get me wrong, that move was probably the one thing that saved Amara from getting third degree burns. Akame is gonna be too amused to see her as an enemy now.
