[OOC] The Broken Drum - Casual drop-in chat for out-of-work adventurers

This is a free-for-all RP designed to let people test out their characters in a historical/fantasy setting, taking the form of a tavern where they can meet with friends and trade stories about their past glories.

The RP is meant as a bit of fun only, but feel free to make use of the beer garden if you'd like to start a brawl. Or the lounge. Or for that matter the main bar, Geoff's over-insured and will probably thank you for damaging the place and the enchantments should allow any property damage to repair itself almost instantly.

There's rooms upstairs if you'd like to start anything intimate with another character (PMs), but Geoff must insist to keep the foreplay down to heavy petting only in the public areas. He's trying to lobby the brewery to make the Broken Drum into a family-friendly pub so he can finally get a carvery installed and they tend to disapprove of live sex shows on the bartop for some strange reason.

@Marcus XVI Yeap. Feel free to wander in and out at your leisure, just as long as you're not stepping on anyone's toes when you do. (Unless that's what you intended to do, in which case make sure to be wearing heavy hobnailed boots with spiky soles. >D)

@HolyHell MurMur kinda reminds me of the Caged Demonwolf from the Empowered comic books, apart from the fact that the Demonwolf really is a powerful entity trapped in a weak body (or in his case a set of energy-draining alien bondage gear.)

How steampunk is this? Also could we make this a proper rp not a casual one? I say this because I feel we will be having a real story created here.

This is meant as a launching pad for stories. If you'd like to start anything more in-depth feel free to make another thread which can be linked back here, popping back to the pub whenever your travels pass this way.

As far as steampunk, the rules for the thread are that anything goes, so feel free to have cybernetic super-soldiers from the future drop in if you'd like. :D

So, hold on a minute, are there any restrictions at all on characters? Because I have one character I've never gotten to use, who happens to be a diminutive alien mechanic who can't speak English.

About the only restriction I'd apply is to be original and not come along with a clone of someone else's character which is already in use. If you want to bring along a clone of your own character which is already in use that'd still be fine. :D

@SimplyJohn Is there a CS for Nerys at all, or was she just a plot device? It'd be interesting to find out how such a powerful, and kinky, creature ended up as a glorified fire extinguisher.

No need for application, the Broken Drum is a free-for-all drop in style kind of establishment. If you'd like to draw up a Character Sheet to introduce yourself feel free to do so, otherwise you can just jump into the IC whenever you're ready. :)

Just to check, was his mother a seamstress, or a 'seamstress'?

In Victorian England the only profession where a young girl was allowed to be in the same room as a man she wasn't married to while he wasn't wearing his trousers (or other appropriate leg garments) was a seamstress, and so London town had several hundred of them registered on the census.

There was also twenty needles in the town at the time, so the girls must've been really good at sharing. That or they were upto something other than sewing while alone with a man they weren't married to who had his trousers off. XD

Geoff can certainly help out with the 'new' part, but as far as the not fatal bit goes I'm afraid it's a matter of pot luck these days.

I thought it was Clark who'd done the tapping, not Thasseldar? Thasseldar was leaning against the other end of the bar hailing Geoff while Clark was walking up behind Domaku. :S
