The nicknames seem… off… Something doesn’t feel “star wars-ey” about them.

I'm open for suggestions as to how to informally refer to Dede or any other nicknames which could be used for her. I was trying to convey her relaxed attitude to command, similar to the way Anakin allowed Ahsoka to call him 'Flyguy' early in their relationship and the way droids are nicknamed throughout the canon.

By the way, the Double De is not a reference to her physical appearance in any way.

When you refer to gaseous environments… Do you mean anything with a fairly normal atmosphere?

Yes, any environment with air to breath as opposed to liquid environments such as Glee Anselm, Mon Calamari, Manaan or Kamino (or portions of Naboo.)

Perhaps you had her first treated there, then brought to the temple for the final bits of recovery before redeployment?

Dede didn't awake from her hibernation until she was at the Jedi Temple and so has no memory of where she may have been treated before that.

It's possible there were complications in her forced hibernation which meant she'd need to be treated by a specialist who was only available at the Temple, or that she was simply moved there for her recuperation once her wounds had been dealt with, but as she was captured while still in recovery she hasn't had a chance to find any of that out yet.

It's possible there may be a mystery there for her to solve. Dun-dun-durrr...

You mention she’s not good at deflecting blaster bolts back, yet give her Force Deflection. That doesn’t exactly rhyme. We’d suggest having only the tutaminis there. The way tutaminis works, she could absorb the energy from blaster bolts into her body and either diffuse it or channel it away completely. For regular deflection, use the lightsaber. Its much more reliable.

Since Dede carries a pair of shoto 'sabers deflection with her blades is difficult, so she's learnt to use her Force abilities for deflection instead. Most of the time she'll just use her agility to avoid incoming fire, but when trying to cover someone else this wouldn't be an option.

we assume you mean “Glee Anselm” rather than “Glee Anslam”, as the latter doesn’t appear in the wiki.

Typo, sorry. I did spell it right in the 'Relations' section when referring to her family though. :D

How old do you imagine her being when recruited?

Only about 6-7, just long enough for her to have begun forming her own personality and sense of self, as well as having made emotional connections with the rest of her family. She would've missed out on some of the Jedi Younglings/Initiate portion of her training a little, which would be why the Council would've needed to make a decision as to whether to allow her to train as a Knight, or force her into the Service Corps instead.

This is quite a major point for the character's possible development since the separation trauma of having been taken from her family at that age could be the catalyst for a potential fall to the Dark side, the very same reason the Council refused Anakin at first.

Recruits weren’t typically selected for a certain path of training, but they were often encouraged towards a path they were good at. If she showed aptitude for a guardian role, they would have encouraged her towards that.

Adjusted the bio wording to emphasise that she was 'guided' rather than 'selected'.

When you reference ‘fly on the wind’ is that a figure of speech for force acrobatics?

Just acrobatics, Force Jumps and other exceptional acts which most Jedi would be able to perform, not actual unpowered flight.

I notice you mention Yoda and Anakin in your biography…

I did? The only mention I made of them was in the 'Path of the Sith' portion of the 'long term goals' section, and since that's out of character I didn't think it would be a problem.

Also as a note, romantic involvement is allowed in this era, though it is not taken lightly. Typically it requires council approval for serious relationships to continue though, so her actions in that area can stay the same.

With Dede the Council would've decided not to allow her relationships to continue at least twice, and both times she agreed to abide by their decision. Whether there was a decision made in the case of her third relationship or not hasn't been discussed, but I'd say the Council allowed it only for her partner to be killed soon afterwards.

This history of making unwise connections with others could be something which would lead her into difficult situations at times, and something I hope doesn't end up getting her killed.

Name: Lord Callidus
Alias: Jedi Master Olon
Species: Human
Age: 50
Gender: Male
Faction: Sith Empire
Rank: Sith Lord

Appearance: A slightly thickset man, standing about 5'10". He has been described by one Coruscant arisocrat as looking "more like a butcher than a Jedi." Callidus is shaved bald, with a trim black goatee and few wrinkles. His eyes are a startling shade of green. He generally wears simple, black-and-crimson robes, or the dark uniform of Imperial Intelligence, though without rank signifiers.

Flaws:

Duelist: Callidus is trained as a lightsaber duelist in the Makashi style, and skilled in one on one sword combat. Fast and precise, he lacks much in the way of raw power, and is subpar at fighting groups of skilled opponents or deflecting large numbers of blaster shots. In short, he is not a front line soldier.

Arrogance: Callidus is contemptuous of those the Sith Empire considers lesser or slave races, and consistently underestimates the capabilities of those whom ideology has taught him to despise. This includes lower ranking Jedi and Sith, though a healthy dose of paranoia keeps him wary of the latter.

Cold Fish: Fear, ambition and curiosity are the ruling emotions of Callidus' life. He has little time for rage and hatred, and thus does not benefit from the fruits of the Dark Side that come from a full embrace of anger and hate.

Courtier: While Callidus is capable of a charm and charisma in personal interactions, his place is behind the throne, not leading troops into battle. He lacks the common touch, and (accurately) comes across as aloof, cold and dismissive to many. He may inspire respect and fear, but very little loyalty, and his superiors tend to be wary of him as a duplicitous (if useful) snake.

Skills:

Spy: Callidus' career has been in Imperial Intelligence. He served for many years in the Republic as a Cipher. He knows the ins and outs of Republic politics and is a skilled, experienced intelligence agent and officer. These skills have served him equally well in the cutthroat political world of the Sith Empire.

Duelist: Callidus is formidable in one on one lightsaber duels, having been trained in Makashi.

Dark Scholar: Callidus is highly educated in Sith philosophy and lore.

Technology Expert: A career in Imperial Intelligence has given Callidus access to the very latest advances in imperial technology.

Force capabilities:

- basic powers -

Mechu Deru

Droid Disable

Telepathy

Drain Knowledge

Force Fear (Callidus is a master of fear and illusion techniques)

Force Stealth

Biography:

Imperial Intelligence Ministry Dossier #467900

Subject: Callidus, Lord
Clearance Level: [REDACTED]
Designation: Human, Force-Adept

Born on the backwater planet [REDACTED] to minor Imperial administrators, the Subject, named [REDACTED] at birth, was quickly identified as Force Sensitive by Interior Ministry sweeps. High scores across the relevant aptitude tests designated the Subject as a promising Interrogator, and he was taken on as an apprentice to Lord [REDACTED] (deceased), from whom he learned Makashi dueling form and received extensive force training over a 15 year apprenticeship. Lord [REDACTED] was discovered by Intelligence to be a member of [WARNING: CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS INADEQUATE. INFORMATION RELATED TO ENTRY 'RED SUN, CULT OF THE' CLASSIFIED. TERMINATE QUERY IMMEDIATELY].

The Subject sided with Imperial Intelligence over his Master, feeding the Ministry intel vital to the identification and termination of several high ranking Sith conspirators. In exchange for his cooperation, the Subject was formally inducted into the Ministry of Intelligence and given the designation "Callidus." Within the Ministry, he served in the somewhat nontraditional role as a force-sensitive and trained Cipher Agent.

Callidus has served in many long-and-short term infiltration missions across Republic and neutral space, masterfully assuming the identity [CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS MET: PROCEED] of Jedi Master Olon (deceased), who was poisoned by Callidus while on a mission in Nar Shaada for the Jedi Temple. After terminating Olon, Callidus was raised to the rank of Lord by the Sith religious authorities. He then underwent extensive surgical modification to match Olon's voice and appearance and has undergone innumerable subversion, infiltration and intelligence gathering missions utilizing his new identity. The cerebral, studious, slightly unconventional Jedi Master Olon was a perfect fit for Callidus' cover. Over many years, he has built an impressive network of spies, informants and assassins across the Republic, and his access to the Jedi Temple archives has vastly increased his knowledge of Jedi and Sith philosophy and history.

It was under his guise as Olon that he was captured after brief a skirmish by Darth Nyiss on [REDACTED]. After Olon/Callidus identified himself as Imperial Intelligence, Nyiss was impressed with the operative's infiltration capabilities and invited him to join in the planning phases of [REDACTED]. The two have collaborated extensively in the years leading up to [REDACTED], and Callidus is believed to be one of Nyiss' favored subordinates.

Personality and/or Motivation: Callidus is a charming, cultured man with a taste for the finer things in life, in many ways similar to his cover identity of the long dead Jedi Master Olon. He often seems somewhat out of place in a purely military setting or among the more bloodthirsty warriors of the Sith. Beneath his polite, somewhat aloof veneer, however, lurks a chilly, calculating mind with considerable experience in the cutthroat political world of the Sith Empire and the organizational structures of the Republic and Jedi. Callidus is cautious, and his ambition is kept in check by a deep streak of fear. He does not seek the limelight for himself, but does attempt to make himself invaluable to the powers that be. He also is careful to stay on the winning side of any conflict. He prefers to let his potential enemies to underestimate him as soft or aloof.

Player’s long term goals:

I think Callidus might serve as a useful and fairly loyal Dragon to Darth Nyiss' big bad, at least at the start of the RP. I'm not sure if he'll be involved in Nyiss' secret plans, but given his skill set he is more likely than most to find out what she is up to.

If her plan is suitably apocalyptic/goes against the grain of his cautious, conservative, self interested outlook, there's room there for him to betray her. Likewise, his relative worldliness and scholarly inclinations leave some room for a conversion to the light side or at least cooperation with the Jedi if the Sith prove dangerous or reckless to him in some way.

Otherwise, I see him as a fairly loyal henchman to Nyiss, lurking as a sort of power behind the throne and trying undermine other Sith who might displace him. Callidus' lack of existing apprentices means he will seek to convert one or more of the Jedi to the dark side and take them on as his disciples.

Relations:

Darth Nyiss: Loyal spymaster and enforcer. Acolyte in Sith Alchemy and magic.

All Other Sith: given Callidus' time undercover, few would likely know him very well, but potentially lots of resentment towards him showing up and his immediately close relationship with Nyiss.

Xid Terrik: @Fallenreaper Lots of potential here, given that Callidus was posing as a Jedi Master and shares an interest/skill with Terrik at robotics & mechu deru. Could be a Mentor/Mentee relationship given an interesting twist once Callidus' duplicity is revealed.

Tolun Fi: @Dervish Again, lots of potential here for 'Olon' and Fi to have been close collaborators on scholarly projects or w/e.

All Jedi: They would all likely have known Master Olon as a wise, scholarly, somewhat distant and slightly worldly type and be shocked at his betrayal. Lot of room here for one of the Jedi to have suspected Olon all along.

Alright @Rtron, we have reviewed your characters.

Sish and Nazca are fine, and accepted by all three GMs.
Zanna, however, needs a little bit of nerfing on the power front. Here is a revised power list for her.

Zanna’s powers:
Force Deflection OR Tutaminis(adv)
Force slow
Force fear
Force Lightning
Drain Knowledge
Sith Alchemy

We would suggest her simply knowing a lot of languages instead of Comprehend Speech.

With that out of the way, Zanna will be in acceptable state.

I do remind you to fulfill the Additional Requirement for all Characters.
Even Veterans such as yourself must do it in case of major catastrophe… which we really hope doesn’t occur.

@Rtron

If she has the 'Drain Knowledge' power then learning another language should be easy enough for her. As soon as she arrives on a new planet she just grabs the nearest local and absorbs the lexicon.

@Genni
These GM responses are usually written by multiple GMs by the way.

On nickname:
How about her nickname being based on something she did, rather than her name? Maybe something about how she jumps about?

Good on the atmosphere, acrobatics, planet name and guided towards guardian stuff.

The bits about referring to anakin/Yoda Confused @Sundered Echo a bit. He began to think you thought the RP was movie Era. It is to avoid confusing people that we recommend avoiding referring to unborn folks.

The thing with Jedi healing and medical care is that the best of the best aren’t on Coruscant. They are on H’Ratth, as that is the place where the best healers are trained and reside.

What we’re suggesting is that you have her having gone there (H’Ratth) first to be treated, maybe spend a bit of time there too, then eventually go to Coruscant for some reason (you can no doubt figure something out, and yes, it can be secret from the other players if you want) before being deployed back into the war. The Sacking and capture prevents that redeployment. An added bonus of spending time on H’Ratth is the option of creating new connections with other players. There are a few others also recovering from war injuries and such.

The Short shoto sabers can just as well block and deflect as larger sabers can. They just don’t have the same reach. Still, if you prefer to have Force Deflection rather than Tutaminis then that is fine. Its Jedi reflexes combined with lightsaber (of whatever size) that helps with deflection, not the size of the saber alone.

6-7 years is perfectly common age for someone to be taken in by the Jedi in this era. They’re not as strict in this era as they are in the movie era as age goes.
Still, your idea works as intended - though many of the children taken at such an age get over the bonds they may have formed, it may impact more or less on individuals. With the War still young when she was taken, the Jedi may not have been able to give her the appropriate care for one taking the separation hard.

The council isn’t opposed to relationships so long as they are healthy. Jedi having children is, after all, a fairly safe way to get more Jedi later. Force potential is hereditary. The one thing they do stop is parents training their own children. The council doesn’t go about killing someone’s partners. Not only is it not something they’d do, but it would also set the “widow(er)” on the path to the dark side.

In the case of your character, with non-force sensitive parents, there would still be reasonably enforced separation from her parents, at least until her adulthood, at which point her duty would largely keep her away from them.

How about her nickname being based on something she did, rather than her name? Maybe something about how she jumps about?

How about people referring to her formally as 'Do' (her surname), informally as 'Cyclone' (after both her Telekinetic Whirlwind ability and her tendency to move 'like the wind' in close combat) and casually as 'Cyc' (pronounced as Psych, a shortened form of Cyclone, and possibly a comment on her being a little psycho at times. )

The thing with Jedi healing and medical care is that the best of the best aren’t on Coruscant. They are on H’Ratth, as that is the place where the best healers are trained and reside.

There's probably a good reason for her being on Coruscant, but Dede wouldn't necessarily know about it herself. She might be just as confused as the others as to why she woke up there rather than on H’Ratth.

After careful consideration I think I'll drop the Tutaminis ability. I just can't see it fitting with Dede's style of combat and persona. As I said before, she's more likely to dodge an attack than try to absorb it, and for those occasions when she can't the Force Deflection would be used to provide cover.

The shoto she'd be using would only be about 20cm long each (similar to the one Master Sora Bulq uses in his left hand,) so it would be easier for her to 'punch' the blaster bolts away with her hand than to try and steer the short, thin blade to deflect them in time, even with her enhanced Jedi reflexes, so I think the Force Deflection would still work for her.

The council doesn’t go about killing someone’s partners. Not only is it not something they’d do, but it would also set the “widow(er)” on the path to the dark side.

I didn't mean to give the impression that the Council had Dede's ex-partner killed after allowing her relationship to continue, the woman in question was just a tragic casualty of war with no hidden agenda in play.

Of course, if a Sith wanted to plant that seed of doubt into Dede's mind... >D

At the request of the @Ellri(I can read up the source material as I possess the Jedi Path book if required for exact quotes).

Shotos are designed as secondary blades or for shorter races. In terms of wielding two as primaries I find it highly unlikely. You can't get the level of control into a shorter handled blade than you can into a regular one, also when the hilt is shorter there are less inner workings and the blades are shorter.

Most people wielded them as blades designed to bat back blaster bolts or deflect lightsaber strikes but it is risky to put a lot of force into them as you can't have as good a grip on them as you can a regular saber. In war time I don't think you'd want to impede your combat style too much by having two shotos, more than likely you could have one shoto and one regular lightsaber or even two regular as regular hilt length lightsabers can still be dual wielded.

Name: Tolun Fi
Species: Kaminoan
Age: 43
Gender: Male
Faction: Jedi Order
Rank: Jedi Knight Consular
Captive? Captive, rather willingly

Appearance:

Representing an ideal example of his species, Tolun Fi stands at a fairly standard 2.3 meters, making him tower over most other races but not peculiar for a Kaminoan. Having yellow-on-black eyes, Tolun Fi was born to the research and science class which has coloured his mentality from a young age. His skin is a luminescent shade of white, with well-defined features including narrow nostril slits and a 4 inch heigh dark fin ridge that follows from the top-rear of his skull down to the nape of his neck. His body is unblemished by scars or markings, largely thanks to a non-combative position in the Jedi order and the extensive genetic engineering of the Kaminoan species. Like all Kaminoans, he possess a long and slender frame with elongated arms and legs with large hands and feet.

Tolun Fi’s manner of dress is practical, usually wearing the form-fitting black-on white clothing common among Kaminoans with limited composite plating to help maintain its form and house electronic components. Only the neck and the head remain exposed, as the legs extend down to the custom-fitted digitigrade boots and the sleeves extend to his wrists. Over top of this ensemble, he wears the traditional brown Jedi robes. The white parts of his clothing and armour appear as such to other races, but for Kaminoans and other species capable of seeing ultraviolet light spectrums, his clothing is quite an elaborate display of colour and designs that would be indescribable to someone who is unable to see the colours, as it would be like attempting to explain colour to a blind man.

Notable Race Traits: Kaminoans are all genetically engineered to be physically perfect, and as such they are free of any hereditary illnesses or conditions that tend to run in other species. They also are one of the few species that can see the ultraviolet light spectrum, giving them a view of the galaxy that very few others are capable of appreciating.

Flaws:

-Emotionally detached: While the Jedi Order tells its members to be mindful of their feelings, Tolun Fi simply doesn’t express any. This makes him rather cold and unapproachable by many, and he is often incapable of empathy or caring about the plights of others. He is rooted in cold, hard logic and reasoning and often views many of his compatriots as overly emotive and irrational.

-Arrogant: Like most Kaminoans, Tolun Fi is arrogant and distainful of those whom he perceives to be savages, brutes, and others who use physical force to get their way. He views many other races as inferior to his own, and he looks down on other cultures he sees as primitive and superstitious. While he primarily judges people on an individual basis on their merits, he sometimes lets his prejudices colour his judgement. Because of this, he finds it rather irritable that for thousands of years, the galaxy still relies primarily on violence to achieve victory and desirable outcomes, and that the Jedi Order still harbours those who would rather bluntly resolve disputes at the end of a lightsaber instead of diplomacy or compromise. He also dislikes the colour green, as it is associated with an undesirable genetic trait that leads to immediate culling in Kaminoan society.

-Ruthless: For Tolun Fi, the ends justify the means, although this is a quiet opinion of his, but one he feels is wholly correct. While he finds unnecessary bloodshed distasteful and a pointless waste, sometimes sacrifice is necessary to secure peace or resolve a crisis. He would not think twice to do what others do not have the stomach or heart to do, and he would not lose a moment’s sleep over it. A choice between one hundred lives against one thousand is not a decision at all, just a matter of simple arithmetic.

-Not a combat specialist: While Tolun Fi can hold his own with a lightsaber, he only knows Form VI, Niman, the moderation form and he relies more on his abilities with the force, although he is still outclassed by many other Jedi and Sith in that regard, as well. While he maintains a respectable level of fitness, not only to be effective as a Jedi and the thought of being anything less than a perfect physical specimen of his species is abhorrent to him, he does not have the physical prowess or stamina of most Jedi Knights.

-Sanitation obsessed: While not overly germaphobic, Tolun Fi isn’t much better and he despises filth and clutter to an almost zealous degree. Coming from a planet with numerous sterile environments and impressively spotless surfaces and facilities, coming to a planet like Coruscant was a shock to the senses and he will often retreat to his personal lab or quarters, which he laboriously keeps spotless.

-Secretive: There are many things that Tolun Fi knows or engages in that he keeps hidden and away from other Jedi, some of which would be seen as morally objectionable if discovered. He will permit only as much information is required and does not take well to people snooping in his laboratory or prying him for information.

Skills:
-Form VI Niman lightsaber style trained.: Keeping true to his personal philosophy of avoiding physical confrontation and emotional involvement, Tolun Fi has dedicated much of his time training in the one form that will allow him to stay on the defensive indefinitely until his bothersome opponent makes a mistake, another Jedi comes to his aid, or another resolution presents itself.

-Brilliant scientist: Having been born into a science caste with enthusiastic and brilliant parents, Tolun Fi was immediately immersed in a research-minded society and he spent the first several years of his life receiving the finest education and an impression that scientific endeavor was the most important pursuit one could undertake. Even after leaving Kamino with the Jedi Order, Tolun Fi continued a lifelong pursuit of study and research that has left him with almost an encyclopedic knowledge of genetics and biology, and the Jedi Order had been very accommodating of his pursuits by providing him with a laboratory and sending him to study the medical sciences and healing arts at H’ratth, which he has put to good use over the years.
-Skilled diplomat: Being able to look objectively at both sides of an issue and the ability to avoid becoming invested in high stake situations has made Tolun Fi one of the better mediators in the Jedi Order for resolving crises without resorting to bloodshed. While some Jedi would object to some of the compromises he’s brokered to ensure peace, few would argue that injustice for some parties is a much better outcome than a war or genocide.

Force capabilities:

Tolun Fi’s force training is primarily defensive and healing in nature without a lot of offensive options.
-Detoxifying poison: Being a healer, Tolun Fi is very skilled at using the force to remove poisons and toxins from himself or another person, a skill that has saved many lives.

-Persuasion and Mind Trick: Being a negotiator and in the interest of keeping his activities and secrets just that, Tolun Fi has become rather adept at using the Force to sway the minds of others and reach compromises that would not have been reached normally.

-Force Listening: A necessity for conflict resolution and dealing with species who cannot speak Common, Tolun Fi uses Force Listening to understand languages he is not familiar with without having to resort to protocol or translation droids.

-Telekinesis: A fairly standard Force Power, telekinesis was the first force power Tolun Fi mastered during his padawan training.

-Force Leap: Another standard power, Tolun Fi is capable of using the force to leap great heights and distances with ease.

-Force Absorption/ Tutaminis: Knowing he would almost certainly run into powerful Sith and other Force users over his life as a Jedi, Tolun Fi took to mastering Tutaminis to negate the worst of Force Powers to protect himself and others from assault. By negating abilities like Lighting, Tolun Fi ideally forces his foe to use the lightsaber, where he is confident in his ability to defend himself, while using the Force to defend himself.

Biography:

Born to a pair of respected genetic engineers in the research caste in Timira City, Kamino, some of Tolun Fi’s earliest memories were the vast cloning facilities located there and the raging, endless storm that defined Kamino and its inhabitants’ ability to defy even a planet destroying cataclysm. The Kaminoan people are quiet, orderly, and clean people, and these are traits that would go on to define Tolun Fi for the duration of his life. He also became immediately familiar with the Kamino customs of enforcing genetic perfection by culling imperfect specimen of his species and of the countless clones grown in the endless rows of tanks. Death was not something that carried weight to the Kaminoan; it was simply a fact of life that meant purifying undesirable and potentially harmful presences from a society that only survived by making the hard, cold choices to keep the isolated and largely diminished population healthy and stable. After all, a cataclysm that claimed millions of lives somewhat inoculates a populace to the weight of death after the fact. This extended to the clones Kamino was famous for growing for clients; a defective clone meant a defective product and was terminated with little fanfare.

In his early years before the Force sensitive Kaminoan was reported to the Jedi Order by his parents, who were immensely proud of their son but realized he would have difficulty finding a place amongst the ordered Kaminoan society, Tolun Fi was thrown into a life saturated with education and study, the fast maturation rates of his species and singular focus of the research caste had the young Kaminoan completing curriculum that were several years more advanced than other species’ educational programs for youth his age. By the time he was 6 years old and starting to accompany his father to work once a week, he was already at an education level comparable to university on other worlds. While this brief period of his life was one of relative solitude and hard work, the Jedi came to Kamino to take Tolun Fi to Coruscant after becoming aware of his existence from his mother, who bid her son well in his endeavors in an unemotional and formal farewell.
Adjusting to Coruscant was something of a taxing trial for the young Padawan, as it was a hugely populated eucumenopolis of unimaginable population and noise and filth that became a living nightmare for the early years of the Kaminoan, who immediately was an outsider amongst his peers due to how rare and strange his species was to the other padawans and his need for a safe, sterilized room for him to retreat to while he acclimatized to the shocking world. Free from the need others required for companionship and play, as well as his already prestigious mind, Tolun Fi was an astonishingly quick study for all of the lessons he was introduced to, and once he was taught how to turn his Force sensitivity into practical use, it became yet another subject for him to master, although with more immediately pleasing results. Learning how to cope with his germophobia, Tolun Fi began to thrive in the Jedi Temple, absorbing information of thousands of years of history and just as many authors. The library became a home for him, and he had expressed interest in continuing scientific experiments, inquiring if there were a path a Jedi could take that could find him making use of the skills he was born into. Shortly after, he was sent to H’ratth to study the healing arts and sciences at the Jedi Temple there on the temperate and beautiful world, an unbelievable place for the Kaminoan who had never seen ground before in his life, let alone vegetation, natural water sources, and geographic features like mountains.

Near the completion of his studies on H’ratth, Tolun Fi came under the notice of Jedi Consular Siloon Pakrun, a Kel Dor well known for his negotiation ability and a reputation for bringing peace throughout the galaxy. While untrue, a popular rumour about the Jedi Knight was that he had never had to draw his lightsaber in the field. Gratified to have been noticed by such an esteemed Jedi and the prestige and advancement it would bring, Tolun Fi was taken under Siloon’s wing and it was at this time in his life, reaching 18 years of his life, that Tolun Fi was properly introduced to the galaxy at large and grow a proper understanding of the Jedi’s place in the galaxy. The two Jedi would go on to develop a healthy and respectful working relationship, and Tolun Fi’s Kel Dor mentor was the closest he had ever come to considering anyone a friend. He learned the fine art of negotiation and diplomacy from his master, and that sometimes there are no peaceful solutions to a situation, or easy choices. Often, small sacrifices had to be made for the sake of the galaxy at large, and some of the situations they were sent to resolve ended on rather dark or bittersweet notes. Peace was preserved, but often at an uncomfortable cost. Not everyone could be saved, and Tolun Fi discovered that fates far worse than death existed, some of which he helped facilitate. It was just as well that Siloon seemed immune to the pressures and weight of their choices, and Tolun Fi’s already detached personality hardened during his journeys. A particularly enlightening conversation with Siloon revealed to Tolun Fi why his master seemed so at ease with the deaths they could not prevent; all living things return to the Force when they die and find peace they never knew in life, where they could live on in serenity forever, once they found themselves in the stream of the Force. It was a comforting sentiment, and one that brought a clarity and comfort to Kaminoan culling practices. After all, it was more of a mercy to return a defective person to the Force than to have them suffer from an illness or disability that would make them suffer for their entire lives. It was a beautiful sentiment, in its own way. Others would doubtless consider this way of thinking cruel and dangerously close to the Dark Side, Tolun Fi considered such opinions naïve and ignoring the ultimate nature of the force, one of peace, order, and no emotion.

After 10 years with Siloon, Tolun Fi became a full-fledged Consular in his own right, free to make his own decisions and taken assignments on his own. Now in a position to continue his studies, Tolun Fi requisitioned a lab to not only address medical concerns in the Temple, but to study the biology and genetics of various species, including a proposition that he wished to see if there was a link between a person’s genetic make-up and their ability to become attuned to the Force, since he had always found it peculiar some races seemed to be innately prone to becoming Force sensitive, while others had such rare instances of Force sensitivity, if at all. Permission granted and a lab established, Tolun Fi made the isolated workspace his own and began to make some interesting discoveries, including identifying the markers in each Force sensitive race’s genetic code, as well as any volunteer Jedi who offered a blood or tissue sample, and Tolun Fi’s greatest breakthrough was mapping a common sequence that could be identified with a simple blood test. In effect, the Jedi now had a method to identify and determine Force sensitives with a simple portable blood test, and invaluable tool in the war against the Sith where it was a constant race to recruit members to each respective order to maintain an edge over their sworn enemies. Having proven his theory sound and tangible, the Order permitted Tolun Fi to expand upon his research, including some of his more controversial ideas of seeing if there was a discernible genetic or biological marker that would indicate if someone were predisposed to be destined to the Light Side of the Force, or fall to the Dark Side. He would continue his research while searching for a padawan of his own to train up until the Sacking of Coruscant, where a test of his true character would begin.

Personality and/or Motivation:

Tolun Fi believes that fighting is the first choice of the unthinking man, whereas it is a last resort for the intelligent. He is hungry for knowledge and discovery, and despite his long separation from his homeworld, he still embodies many of the traits that are typical of Kamonians, including a calm, polite exterior and a somewhat cold and detached personality. He is slow to accept people as friends, and even then he largely keeps people at an arm’s reach, the faint vestiges of xenophobia still colouring his worldview. The main driving force for him is discovering a genetic reason for people turning to the Dark Side and extinguishing it forever so the galaxy can live in peace, with balance in the Force being achieved by removing the conflict within it. By being captured by the Sith, he searches for an opportunity to gain some samples of his own and use his own captivity against them, fully accepting it may cost him life or limb. After all, he has made the call of who should live and die before, and he understands that in the grand scheme of things he is a part of that same system of cold arithmetic. Of course, he’d prefer to survive, since he has no worthy heir to carry on his research. A mind of his caliber should not be wasted needlessly.

Player’s long term goals:

Ultimately, Tolun Fi is defined by his pursuit and dedication to science and sooner or later, provided he makes the discovery he is looking for (if there is a Dark Side genetic marker he can manipulate), he intends to capitalize on that, whatever the cost. It is worth repeating that the ends justify the means to him, and he will not hesitate to do what he thinks will bring balance and peace to the galaxy. Should he get rescued and Sith are captive, I should like to see the tables turned on them where he has access to them for his own experimentation, even if he has to steal them away from the Order to do it. I would be interested to see if any characters could change his mind over some of his opinions, or if he’s capable of forming anything resembling empathy towards others.

Relations:

Xid Terrik: A young man that Tolun Fi respects and appreciates due to the padawan’s mechanical aptitude and desire to learn and improve upon himself. The Kaminoan feels an easygoing kinship with the young human, willfully involving Xid with his work with the hopes of inspiring a scientific mind in an overly martial order.

Sela Zythor: A Jedi Master that Tolun Fi was largely indifferent to, but respected due to her choice in padawan. While they seldom crossed paths conversationally, they maintained a respectful working relationship.

Nazca Barsavi: The two had only met on a handful of occasions as Nazca had only recently been brought to the Jedi Temple. They had met for appointments and consultation about surgery to remove the rings melded to her fingers. The Sacking occurred before the surgery could happen.

Actually, I think I'm going to bow out of the RP. I was going for a fast moving, knife fighter style of character but since most of the characters who are being accepted seem to be over-the-top Force users I don't think Dede would fit in very well.

Best of luck with the story.

Sorry to see you go, though I will say sorry if what I said made it seem you can't be nippy and fast :P There are even knife lightsaber variants, whose name eludes me currently. Or the use of Jar'kai with two normal lightsabers is quite fast and acrobatic and seems to fit what you have built so far.

Provided the sheet meets the requirement and fits the RP, there is generally always room for more prisoners, @Feisty-Pants.
