[IC] Yugioh: The King's Shadow

Atem continued to focus on Zhara's raging power. He continued to use his own to reign in this power and seal it within such a small pendant. He had to admit it was quite the feat of concentration as he was trying to calm a raging storm.

It took some time but soon the shadows calmed down and soon just Zhara stood there, panting before him. She looked at him, tears in her eyes. “I’m sorry my pharaoh…I have failed you…dearly…” then she fell backwards away from him, her body beaten and soul weak.

Mana had been watched from the edge of the clearing, waiting to jump in and help where she could. Not noticing one of the others behind her she muttered “Zhara…my pharaoh let me help…call for us…”

[Jazz]

Atem was feeling quite drained after reigning in the raging shadows. Hearing her apology, Atem looks up to see Zhara as she is starting to lean backwards. His eyes wide for his only thought is to catch her and takes a step only for his legs to buckle. He goes to grab her, pulling her to him enough to break her fall with a grunt and a groan. He looks for Bane as Slifer lowers his head as if to check on them. "Call for Seth and Mahad...please..." Feeling rather drained and unable to move.

Bane nodded and said “of course my pharaoh” he howled loudly and shadow wolves appeared. They took off and ran back, past Mana as she ran out to help Atem. “Pharaoh! Shadow!”

The biggest of the wolves found Seth and Mahad and barked. “The pharaoh needs your aid! Follow me at once!” The wolves found healers as well and was leading soldiers back to the scene.

Mana landed by Atem and helped him sit up. “I have you my pharaoh. Lean on me till the others arrive. Is Zhara…” Zhara wasn’t moving, pale and bleeding all over. A weak breath was coming from her, her body shaking.

[Jazz]

The two priests noticed the wolf as it came to them to give news of the Pharaoh needing their aid. With a nod they get on horses and bring thr Pharaoh's horse with them. "Lead the way."

Atem accepted the assistance of sitting up with Zhara sliding to his lap. He looks over Zhara to check her injuries. "In need of healing but she will be alright. Her power had been subdued. We will need to leave as soon as the Priests arrive."

Mana nodded and said “how are you my pharaoh? Your pale…did helping Zhara take much of your strength?”

Soon the wolves were back with the healers who moved to the pharaoh first to treat his weakness. Mana moved to take Zhara, knowing the healers had to help Atem first. Zhara wasn’t looking good by the point. Mana looked up and saw Seth and Mahad and she waved to them. “Master…”

Atem nodded. He noticed Slifer disappearing as the Priests and healers came to assist them. He tried to wave some of them knowing sleep would do him better good. "Sleep will do me good, see to my shadow. She had the physical injuries that need of healing." He tells them.

Mahad and Seth stop near Mana seeing Zhara in her arms. Mahad was first to dismount. Going to his Apprentice and using his magical abilities to assess Zhara's magic and her condition. "How is our Pharaoh?" He asks her while he worked.

Mana said “drained but not injured. He…was able to help Zhara reclaim control of her shadows…but it taxed him. She is in a lot worse shape. Her battle left her wounded but on top of it her fighting her own power to protect the pharaoh caused more wounds and she is drained badly…” she looked at her pharaoh and saw he was busy dealing with the healers and said “we need to get her back now. She’s at the gates of Anubis’s realm…but we can’t tell him her state. He needs to rest in peace or he won’t recover”

Zhara flinched in her arms, sweat running down her face.

[Jazz]

"It's too far and she won't make the ride. I can make sure she can. I can give her a little of my energy and heal the wounds to where it is not life threatening. Then she will be able to make it back to the palace for treatment."

"I will go save out pharaoh from the healers. It seems they are grating on his last nerve." Seth walks over toward the healers and the Pharaoh who is looking rather annoyed about them not backing off. "Healers, please see to the other injured, our pharaoh is looking quite overwhelmed and in need to fresh air." He requests trying to shoo the healers.

Mana nodded softly and moved Zhara so she could be treated. “She looked so scared Master…but only when the pharaoh was at risk from her powers…I’ve never seen her scared before…”

The healers nodded and moved back to go help others, seeing Mahad had Zhara handled.

[Jazz]

"I am sure you would as well if your powers were to overwhelm you as someone you held dear were to come help help you despite the risks." Mahad explains to Mana while he continued to heal her more serious injuries to minor ones. It was soon that he had done so that he transfers a little of his energy to give Zhara a fighting chance. It was once that she had more color to her that Mahad stops before standing up slowly. "Help me get her on the horse. Let Atem know we are ready to head out."

Seth helped Atem to his feet slowly before guiding him to the horses. No doubt he was ready to go back to the palace for they knew the next day would be a long one at that.

Mana nodded and moved to help carry Zhara to her horse, Zhara never riding a horse, and she pulled her up onto Mahads horse while he jumped on. She said “we have to hurry…we should tell Seth to take the pharaoh a head of us and not let him see Zhara till we are sure she’s going to make it…” they took off after the pharaoh and priest Seth.

Upon getting Zhara on the horse, her resting infeont of him, Mahad sighs. "Mana." He understood where she was coming from in Atem seeing her like this, but there was a time that no matter what you do, Atem was going to check on her. "Atem is not a child. She will make it. We cannot deny our Pharaoh to seeing Zhara." He said sharply. But his tone softened then and does his face. "I understand you worry for them Mana. But I am sure he is aware of her situation and that it is the healers that will do their best for her. Have faith, Mana."

Atem and Priest Seth lead the Army back as well as their prisoners. He took more time to make sure that they made it back promptly for that the injured could receive proper care. He had glanced back very now and then to check on Zhara but knew she was in good hands. He worried about her but knew there was little he could do.

Mana sighed as they rode and said “he needs rest first before he sees her…or he won’t recover and all she did will be for nothing…”

Zhara was shaking against Mahad, barely hanging on thanks to his healing and energy boost. They made it back to the palace and mana called out “we need medical attention over here!” As she jumped down and helped Mahad pulled Zhara off the horse.

It was upon their arrival that the other Priests and healers had come to greet them and help take care of the remaining injured. By this, a few healers, with a stretcher had come to take Zhara. Mahad helped place her in the stretcher of which they hurried off.

Atem had dismounted carefully with the help of Priest Seth and priest Aknadin. Though he looks back, he is guided to his chambers to rest.

Mana watched them take Zhara and looked at her master. “Will she make it master? Should I go with her so she isn’t alone?” When he nodded she ran off after them, tears in her eyes.

That evening mana was walking around outside the healers wing, her hands wrapped around herself and she was fighting not to cry again. Zhara had been in bad shape and they had been working on her tirelessly since she came back. She was barely stable but the fear was she hadn’t regained consciousness yet. Mana was talking to her self trying to find a way to help her.

For while Mana was within her own world of sorts, Atem had been sneaking around after having woken up and seeing his Shadow. Deciding to come see how her recovery was fairing. What he did not expect was for Mana to be outside the healers wing pacing and muttering something to herself.

Having hidden around the corner to then poking his head out to watch Mana, Atem decides to coming out of his hiding spot and approach his friend. "Mana? Are you alright?" He asks her.

Mana jumped so high she left the floor and turned sharply. “Oh your highness. Good evening. Shouldn’t you be resting? Why are you up and about?”

[Jazz]

Atem could only chuckle at the startled sight of Mana. "I have a little. I woke up not long ago. I came to check up on Zhara. I was worried." He admits to her. Cercern indeed could be seen as he looks toward the healers wing.

Mana sighed and said “she’s…not doing well. They were able to seal her wounds and wrap them but…she hasn’t woken up yet…I’m sorry I didn’t say before…I wanted you to rest first…”
