[IC] Yugioh: The King's Shadow

[Jazz]

Atem held up a hand to stop her. "It is quite alright. I understand Mana." He tries to sooth her. "It seems all we can do is wait and pray for her recovery. I do not know if it is wise to step in with the many people they are tending to." He admits.

[MegaraFoxfire]

Mana shook her head and said “she’s alone in there now. The healers are working on the soldiers now from the fight. She’s in the back room…” she moved the curtain and said “go see her my king…”

When Atem made it to the room Zhara was wrapped in clean bandages all over, a rag on her forehead to aid with the fever. She looked small in this state, her breathing weak. Her pendent and staff were by her side.

[Jazz]

Atem takes a deep breath to steal himself before entering the room. To see Zhara laying there made his heart sink. Walking closer, he pulls a chair over to sit next to her. Checking the rag to see if it needed to be replenished, if so, doing so and placing the cloth back on her forehead.

Almost as if she was fragile, Atem gently takes her hand to hold. He feels like he's helpless, unable to help his love but to be here and pray to any god/goddess that would hear him for Zhara's recovery. He wondered many things about what this could mean. But he shook his head. Be what the gods had in store for them, they would triumph.

Mana watched him as he went in and said “good luck my pharaoh…” she moved to block the doorway so they would be alone.

Zhara felt hot in his hands, her body in a weakened state. That’s when her shadow moved and the smaller version of Bane appeared. “My shadow…” he shifted into his human form and moved to her other side, looking down at her. “He will pay for this dearly my brother…”

[Jazz]

Atem raises his head hearing Bane's voice and looks up to him with a sorrowful look. "Bane?" Not sure what to expect.

[MegaraFoxfire]

Bane turned and saw him sitting there. “Hello my king. Sorry I missed you there…my brother is fighting this war for his own greed…but this is going too far…my shadow…pushed to the limits…” he sighed and said “her mind is damaged.”

[Jazz]

"Indeed. As we all are tired of this war. I too am feeling the harsh blow we have recieved while Zhara lays here, having recieved a harsher fate than any of us." Watching Zhara as if he was hoping for a change in her condition. "Is there nothing else we can do for her?" He asks.

Bane looked at him and said “my king…you are the pharaoh. If anyone can save her mind and soul…it’s you. You have the puzzle around your neck. And your two priests have the key and rod…I’m sure your brilliant mind can think of some way to aid her recovery”

[Jazz]

Atem watched Zhara with focus as he took Bane's words to heart, thinking about what he could possibly do. There was somethings he knew of that the Puzzle could achieve and he had used some of those abilities. He thought back to his father and what he told him about the Puzzle.

It was then he came up with an idea. "I-I could look into her soul. See if there is anything within. Sometimes it is not always the body is struggling, it is the soul within." Atem explains to Bane. "I think with what happened back at the village, something happened to harm her soul. I could find out what it is. If I can, I will fix it if it is within my power.

Bane nodded softly and said “that might work…I’ll here to support you in anyway I can…Do you need any one else to try this?”

[Jazz]

Atem shakes his head. "Would prefer I did this. No outside interference. I have only done this a handful of times. I would not say no to guidance." He admits.

Bane nodded and moved to take Zharas free hand and said “then I’ll watch over you both. Bring her back to us my king…”

Zhara moved slightly when Atem took her hand again, looking weak and damaged laying there on the bed.

[Jazz]

Atem nodded before looking back to where Mana was at the entrance to then turn back taking Zhara's hand once again.

Atem's lips curled into a smile as he closed his eyes and took a deep breath. Drawing power from the Millennium Puzzle, he focuses on Zhara's mind and soul. To see the door and enter it with caution.

The door was a black curtain with a stone frame, moving in a soft wind. Inside the room looked like a huge temple ruin, cracking walls and idols on the ground. It was a night sky outside the windows, shadow beings moving about the ruins.

Zhara was sitting against the main wall of the biggest room, her body black in spots from the damage her soul took. She was breathing hard, her eyes closed. Monster sounds could be heard behind her, the wall now looking like a huge stone doorway. She said weakly “must…keep them…at bay…have to protect him…all costs…”

[Jazz]

Standing infront of the entrance, Atem looks around him and the surrounding that represented Zhara's soul. To see ruins, idols. Then he saw Zhara and the wall she was leaning against. Walking toward Zhara, he could see the spots of where her soul was damaged. "Zhara?" Standing a couple feet from her.

Zhara weakly opens her eyes and saw him before her. “Atem? What…how are you here? Am I dreaming again?” She tried to get up, holding the stone doors close with one hand as she looked at him.

“What’s wrong?”

[Jazz]

Atem smiled at Zhara when she thought he was a dream as he looked to the door behind her. "What is behind the door?" He asks her.

Zhara looked behind her and said “the darkness. As Banes shadow…I help keep back the evil of the gate…I took a few bad hits during the fight…Apep was true to form helping his little pawn…now I have to sit here and keep it closed…I will be back to my duty as soon as I figure out how to…”

[Jazz]

Atem continued to have his eyes trained on the gate as he frowned. He wondered if there was a way to help keep this door closed. He wondered by helping Zhara seal her powers only reigned them in. "So behind this door is Bane's shadow. And it needs something stronger so it does not unchecked, yes?" Making sire he had understood this right.

[MegaraFoxfire]

Zhara shook her head as she tried to stand. “No my king…this is the darkness of mankind. Of the shadow realm. Banes shadow…is me. I am his power. And he is mine. And we keep the gate closed…to protect mankind…” she looked shaky standing up, panting a bit.

“My powers going mad…was them trying to get control again…my rage and fear for you…I lost my grips…I can’t do that again…I have to hold the gate shut till either I recover enough which isn’t working or…something else seals it till Bane recovers his strength…”
