Well, there's now thirty dwarves (some armed) running around looking for Xallihion's enslaved miners and the new tunnels (the ones that Clotho's bugs have been digging). So assuming that Xallihion comes out to deal with that and Clotho's soldiers find themselves under attack, it will be a good way for the two of you to come into contact. Maybe you two come to a quick agreement of sorts and decide to attack the dwarves together.

The dwarves are starting to freak out, so now is a fine time to swoop in and make them start killing each other.

They shut the main gate and now have some guards at the entrance, but your plan to mess with their ventilation shafts could still be put into action.

To everybody else at the human village, the defenders in the middle of the town could be quickly crushed because they're still half asleep ad trying to organize and their leader hasn't showed up yet. Ironically putting out the fires might also be a good idea, so that part of the town is still left over once this is all over.

Correct. I was just making it easier to join the group. As I have yet to meet the master, or gain insight to why evil has assaulted the town. Not that "cold stare" is intrested in any of that. He comes only to destroy. Perhapse we can play the Riddick game while we wait for the others? I confess while making this character I failed to imagine a form of communication between other palyers. Perhaps@Cyclone will accept the idea of communication via possession. Unable to make the character take any action or hold them in place. Just to transfer ideas between two players.

I'm not opposed to that. I had figured that Cold Stare would just speak normally by manipulating the air around himself or something, but do whatever you feel is most suitable.

I'm back, to discover that @Blackmist16's new character has jumped the gun on a well-planned attack, alerted the town guards to an internal threat rather than let them be drawn to an external threat, ruined the plan and turned the raid into a slaughter. What am I meant to do now? Torrens' whole job was to cause chaos outside before any inside chaos happened.

@PhoenixFire, in terms of magic, generally magic users in this universe tend to just cast magic from internal sources or some sort, rather than rely on scrolls and wands with charges of a spell. Those would be good to use spells you can't innately cast, though.

Well, with the sounds of fighting Torrens doesn't need to wait for any signal now. If he started an absolute inferno on the outskirts of the city I'd imagine that he could still draw some attention as he was told to do. The guards rallying together would probably go that way first thinking that the biggest threat is there.

Of course, he and Athinar can say all of this IC and try to blame any failures on Balotiss.

Actually, this works out better then expected. If all the armed warrior dwarves are down in the lower mines, they are all going to die when the gas attack hits... as will Clotho's minions and quite possibly Xallihion as well. I'm not sure how the Squidhead is going to get out of this alive since he is based somewhere in the lower mines without striking a deal with Clotho to give him a fast way out.

Sorry guys I kind of misinterpreted shit and I screwed up and I'm sorry so actually we have now focused on the guards not civilian so as to make it not a slaughter and Balothiss does tend to jump the gun as I say and he screwed up and he realizes that is why he is focusing on the guards now, he might retreat and go and try to draw guardsmen out of the city if that helps or he could distract the while someone takes out a good amount of them?

Oh and I'm sorry about this mess you know what Balothiss could start a much larger fire towards the centre of town and we could slip in while they pay attention to where the larger fire is.

@Blackmist16, I figured you must have skipped over some of the prior details. IC'ly, if Balothiss had decided to ignore orders and charge right in there and kill things, that would be fine because it's all IC stuff (it fits your character, after all, who is "very impatient and hotheaded at times but he enjoys ale and loves combat a lot"). However, considering that Balothiss had completely ignored the part where he would need to gain access to the village and instead just began existing in the heart of the village when nobody else had yet gained entry, that seemed very off to me.

Whatever, it's a bit late to undo it all. We can say that as the infiltration party moved into position Balothiss got excited, jumped the gun on the plan, charged through the village and started burning things. Then that puts us where the IC posts are, at a significant tactical disadvantage, of course, since now the guards and sorcerer priests have assembled in formation to counter the fiends invading their town. Balothiss might be able to beat aside a few lone guards, but the assembled military and magical might of the entire town? Not so much.

And no, an external distraction won't work. If the guards think they have already been breached, then, as has been said, they will fall back to the next line of defense, which is the town's center. And really, any other distraction won't do much, either. The defenses are already fully assembled. The best you can do is direct them to other places, which doesn't really help in beating them. With the original divide and conquer/subterfuge plan out the window, we'll just have to settle for a brawl.

The thing is that the civillians are locked inside their houses. The guards won't just cower in the middle of the town (the town square not being that defensible of a spot anyways) while all their family are burned in the fires or slaughtered.

They're trying to organize themselves in all this chaos and once they do, they will go where they feel like they can save the most people or make the most difference. That's probably going to be where Balothiss and the first fires are, but if Torrens somehow managed to create an even bigger commotion they'd go for him or better yet, split up.

Do what you like, I'm just saying don't think that avenue is blocked if it's what you wanted to do.

It's a bit early to say how the dwarf attack is going, but so far their plan is going well and they've done nice work setting this up to look like the humans did it. So I say that the dwarf mission is going more smoothly. Hmm, perhaps too smoothly...

It's looking bad since there are fires popping up when it was supposed to be seized intact while the guards are rallying and the element of surprise has been mostly ruined. The situation could still be salvaged, but right now it's beginning to take a bad turn.
