Kijani really did not like being called ma'am. She had at least 50 years before she was going to look old enough to be called ma'am. While she'd tried to tell the scientists to cut it out, they couldn't seem to grasp it.

Shaking off the last remnants of vertigo, she went toward the tech who had called her. "I've told you a thousand times, it's Miss Ryane or nothing. What's the problem?"

"Well umm... Miss Ryane I umm... noticed our sensors were not longer receiving data from the wormhole. And I couldn't detect it on any other channels so i looked out the window and as you can see for yourself..." Stammered the obviously concerned scientist as he moved out of the way so that Kijani could look out the window.

Looking out the window you can now see what has the scientist so startled. Directly behind the Star Breaker was a large cliff face jutting above the water. What you didn't see however was the wormhole that had brought you here.

The wormhole that was supposed to bring you back home.

Tugging at your sleeve the scientist asked "What do we do now?"
The rest of the lab looks towards you.

As the ship jumped through space at speeds unknown the feeling of acceleration was something that Marko's body did not know how to react to. This naturally gave him an acute, but fleeting case a vertigo before being thrown to the ground upon exiting the wormhole. "Holy Trinity," He paused grabbing his head with one hand and using the other to pull himself up to the control panel he was at before. "Captain, are we ready for areal switch?" Letting out a sigh Marko tried to shake off the feeling the jump had left. "Standing by to engage."

Strider stood in place throughout the whole event, motionless. He did not brace for the jump, he just let it happen. And then it happened. For a moment he was somewhere else; a vast abyss surrounded by stars. No water, no ship, nothing. Just Strider standing alone... on a star? And then suddenly he was back on the ship. He checked his readouts and instinctively pulsed the sensors to locate any possible threats in the vicinity while the rest of the crew appeared to be staring out of a window. The pulse came back with news. Bad news? Good news? He didn't know. There was something moving underwater, something massive and alive. Whatever it was, it seemed in a hurry to be the first to the welcoming party.

Strider yelled out, "Unknown hard contact on Short Range Pulse Sensors! Large Biological Creature, 50 meters subsurface at 1.5 miles, Bearing 032. Collision Course!" as he ran through sensor feeds. "It's coming at us fast. We've got 20 seconds before it's on top of us. Get us in the air!"

Hearing the warning from Strider set Marko into an almost auto pilot. Without waiting for further information or instructions he inserted the key into the ignition for the aerial engine switch and turned. The caused over head light to flash and an automated message to sound across the ship.

"Prepare for aerial flight"

The engine crew on all decks rushed about to secure tools, hoses and other various items that would possibly cause damage to engine components, while others monitored system readings to report back to Marko.

"Systems are green and dust off will commence in 5... 4... 3... 2..." the ship began to move very slowly in an upward motion as water jets on the underside of the ship helped to lift it out of the water while the propellers provided the push off the surface. On the control board in front of Marko a green light came on once the ship was free from the surface. "We are in the air, and free for evasive maneuvers!" Marko called out gripping the bar attached to the controls. "God give us speed."

Kijani stared for what felt like an eternity, at the place where the wormhole should have been. One of the tech's tugged her clothing like a worried child, which dragged her back into reality. "Get the captain over the comm, immediately." What could this mean? Were... were they trapped there? That was the last thing she'd thought of. Not to say she hadn't planned for it, but she still didn't like to consider it. Oh well, it wasn't like she'd left anyone behind on Earth to mourn her.

"Not a half hour here and already a complication." Captain Absimil thought watching the scanners reveling the massive life form submerged and moving. "Take the ship up an additional 400 meters as a precaution... for the Americans that's 1312.34 feet." This order while carried aroused a small laugh from the more metric minded crew members.

"Strider I want you to monitor that creature chances are we simply spooked the local sea life is all." From the looks of the scan it looked like some sort of whale. "Amazing contact with an alien life!" Thought Abismil.

"Alright people we have no time to gawk! I want constant atmospheric readings to determine weather patterns, I want this vessel in motion we need to get an idea of the planet before i authorize any ground missions, also get the science labs warmed up a need to know the gas compositions of the air..." He was interrupted by a sudden beeping on his wrist communicator.

"Science team i assume you've taken notice of our..." A sudden look of dismay suddenly overtook the normally collected and in control expression the captain had worn for many years. "Sir what is it?" Asked a concerned Ensign.

Back in control Abismil sent out a message to all the officers. "All officers leave your second in charge of your station and report to the officer's cabinet immediately. That includes Miss Achieng"

Marko heard the Captain over the communicator, but he did not seem to sound like his normal self. There was some unusual softness in his tone ans well as uncertainty. None the less Marko had his orders to follow, and after a brief scan of the control panel he pulled down a corded radio and spoke over the engine room PA. "Steven, the captain has summoned me. Don't let anything fall apart without me." There was a brief pause as Steven made his was to a radio panel to respond. "I wouldn't have anyone to blame if I did. Go ahead I'll keep her running." With that Marko walked out of the control room down a set of bulkheads and corridors to the cabinet room where he was to meet the others.

Strider looked around and saw no one to take his place. It was only at that point he remembered he monitered everything remotely. "Huh. This whole intergalactic travel deal must've messed with my memory or something." he said under his breath as he closed the terminal and moved toward the officers cabinet.

He typed out a quick report on minor things he noticed running through the first sensor feeds.

SUB: Observations on oddities in sensor feeds.

Team,

Reading a steady electromagnetic field; almost mirroring earths. Poles are opposite of earth. Temperature is hovering about 40*F; but we are oceanborne and appear to be in the cooler area of the planet. Aside from Biological Entity A-001 (The subject name he'd given their whale-ish life form for the time being) I read only small islands nearby, many with heavy feedback on metallurgical scans. Either they're significantly rich in metals we know of on Earth; or they are pieces of wreckage from our unfortunate predecessors that were involuntarily forged into this new world.
