I would like to express my interest and ask if there is already an OOC. I shall work on a character tonight after I get home from word assuming I do not get absorbed into something else.
Here's my CS. Tell me if something's wrong with it. Also might add a bit if I notice I forgot something. Maybe.
Real Name: Nico Kofbern
Superhero Alias: None
Gender: Male
Age: 16
Appearance: Nico is rather thin. He’s of reasonably average height (5’7). He usually wears a brown hoodie, white shirt and slightly faded blue jeans. Kind of hoboish, really. However, his most distinctive appearance trait is his face, or the lack thereof. Instead of a face, he has a face-shaped tv screen-looking thing. He can pull up pictures on it so he puts emoticons on it to show his expressions, but he can just leave it blank. Kind of like the helmets on the Mantel Soldiers from Haze, but blue.
Nico’s powers stem from his love of video games and electronic media. Using his powers, he can bend reality (to a degree) and summon things from his favourite video games, as well as use video game physics. I know this requires more details so I split this up a bit:
Nico can ‘load’ different game physics, be it RPG, platformer, etc, and different games sport different physics. Furthermore, certain games affect the world around him, but this an aspect of his power that he can’t control. I don’t have a complete list here, but I’ll list down the ones I can (Weaknesses listed in weaknesses section).
- Mario: Jump several times his height, jump on people’s heads to do damage. Destroy solid blocks about as big as him with his head. Mushrooms to grow him an extra foot and fire flowers to shoot fireballs, along with various other power ups. Occasional Yoshi eggs spawn. Starts with three lives.
- Legend of Zelda classic: Becomes more restricted in movement, can only move in straight directions. Able to collect items. Able to shoot projectiles out of melee weapons when health is at full. When hit, invincibility time activates for half a second. Destroy grass for a chance of items.
- 3D Legend of Zeldas: Relatively free movement. Gains excellent sword and shield skills. Can pick up items (again). Destroy grass for chance of items (again). Also good bow and bomb mastery somehow.
- Assassin’s creed: Gains great parkour skills and excellent close combat skills. Gains the ability to synchronise and a minimap. Also gains great stealth and disguise skills, and becomes capable of disappearing into a crowd.
- Call of Duty: Regenrating health, CoD minimap. Can pick up and use any gun. On kill, enemies drop Scavenger packs to replenish ammo and grenades.
- Halo: Same as above, but power ups also spawn.
And there are others, but I’ll go through those when I have to.
Summon items: He can summon items from games and TV shows. Unfortunately, things that are too big take to much energy to spawn, like mech suits. He can summon jetpacks and stuff, and guns and weapons, but his limit is about the size of a Banshee from Halo, and that takes a lot of energy. Besides that, he can also just make items for cosmetic effect which doesn’t take that much energy, but he still can’t make them too big and blocking attacks causes the cosmetic items to dissipate. Basically, to create items with functionality takes a lot more energy than cosmetic items. He basically has the world’s easiest cosplay kit. Also, he can’t make people or anything. Additionally, functional items do what they’re supposed to on anyone, like a healing potion healing people.
Other Skills: Really good at games. Slightly higher than average stamina. Really good reflexes. Connected to the internet 24/7 (not like he can help it, though). Has a computer in his face. Good at multi-tasking.Can eat food to add to his energy pool.
Actually shit at fighting when not loading some game physics. Each game physics set have their own health system. For Mario, he starts with 3 lives and for every one hit he takes, he loses one. For Legend of Zelda, he has the heart system, and for most others, there’re health bars. His game physics also drains his energy, and here we come close to his biggest weakness, his energy.
He has a pool of energy which he uses for his abilities and if he runs out, he shuts down for as long as it takes to regain enough energy to wake up. When he shuts down, he just randomly stops moving. He shuts down when his energy levels are too low to sustain the current mode of operation, like when he uses his abilities too much. Furthermore, it’s quite limited. For example, the banshee would take too much energy to make, maintain and shoot with to use for more than 5 minutes of sustained combat.
Additionally, when Nico goes to sleep, he doesn’t wake up for exactly 6 hours, unless he shuts down by depleting his energy, which might take longer. Also, because he’s connected to the internet all the time, there’s the possibility for him to get viruses and stuff. When he shuts down, he resets his physics and stuff created by him disappears.
His game physics also drains his energy, kind of like an intense workout, so he can’t do it forever.
Personality: Nico is quite upbeat and cheery, despite looking like a similar to a protectron from fallout 3. He’s very friendly and likes meeting new people. In battle, he’s relatively brash. However, while some might describe him as fearless, others would just say he’s stupid. With that said, he’s earnest and tries his best most of the time, but isn’t above goofing off. It’s sometimes hard to tell if he’s paying attention or not, because he might be playing games while pretending to listen. Nevertheless, he’s quite bright and easy to get along with, although a little naïve and fearless nearly to the point of stupidity.
Nico was born with something a lot of people didn’t have. The inability to use his legs. Nico was crippled since birth, a fact that he himself was fine with. However, his parents – a couple of scientists – thought differently. They tried to figure out how to fix his legs, to give him the opportunity to walk. For most of Nico’s life, he was homeschooled, which may have left him a little sheltered. There was one thing that he enjoyed immensely, however: Video games.
Pretty much his only form of outside contact was video games, the internet and TV. This might spell danger for a young child, but he became very tech-literate at a young age. At some point in his life, he went to normal school for a few years. He gained some social skills and made some friends. Eventually, though, his parents finished their project and revealed it to him.
In theory, Nico’s brain hadn’t formed a connection to his legs, so they were trying something rather radical. They made a computer that gave him the ability to control his legs. His parents used a weird face visor thing and booted it up, and things get hazy after this.
To cut a long story short, Nico woke up. His parents were gone, and he could move his legs. No one seemed to know where his parents were, or what had happened. The computer-visor thing had fused with his face. Somewhat unfortunate to ruin his beautiful face, but 24/7 internet and video games was somewhat useful. It was around this time that his powers manifested, possibly stemming from the incident. He went to live with his aunt and soon, he got the letter and went to herculean academy.
