The founding the mercenary band, The Windhammers, was, by some accounts, a complete accident. Rithok Windhammer, a wealthy noble and son to an ancient merchant family that dealt in textiles saw that his family's trade routes and caravans were beset with thieves and bandits. As a warrior himself, Rithok gathered his House's guards and met the bandits on the Fithrox hills where he chased them for nearly a month, taking him across many independent kingdoms and city-states. As many would argue, the crossing of these lands by Rithok and his men was the beginning of his company, as vagabonds, hedge knights, and soldiers joined him in his cause to wipe the bandit plague out.
His chase ended when the bandits were cornered near the Dubgartain Mountains, where the bandit king met with Rithok and his men in a fierce battle that lasted several hours. By the end of it, Rithok was slain and the bandit threat was destroyed. The story of Rithok Windhammer and his band of men and guards spread across the land, but their tale would go no further, as the death of leader caused the group to disband. Rithok went into history as a minor legend, and the House of Windhammer became prosperous due to its son's efforts, its guards becoming the most sought after caravan guards within the land.
Seeing an opportunity, Rithok's brother, who had become Lord of House, decided to make the Windhammer Mercenary Company and took charge of it himself, leaving the duty of lording over the estate to his son while he and his men went off to distant lands. As the years went by, the Windhammer house fell, but the mercenary band remains as the most popular paramilitary organization within the continent and the most sought after.
-The Fallen Nobles Lord Thrifle Tunwane
No one thought the empire would fall. Made by the blood of the gods, the empire was thought to last for all time. It came suddenly, the imperial soldiers grew lazy, fat, and often the nobles within fought amongst themselves. Queen Arimal of the Free Cities of the east invaded the western continent, and within a year the empire was no more. The gods were all but defeated, their Champions imprisoned for eternity, and Dulthornax the Betrayed, the first dragon and foremost amongst the gods, was released from the torturous plane the other deities locked him in.
Soon, the continent that was once in relative peace, was now scorched and rife with wars and bloodshed. Ambitious men make a grasp towards godhood while others are content with leading their forces to conquer the continent. One such kingdom, led by the descendant of Queen Arimal, Queen Ithilir, is ahead in the game. Within her forces are the immortals, fallen champions, and even gods. And now, she has even employed the Windhammers, and plans to use her pieces to conquer not only the western continents, but the realms of the gods.
The Magic system is quite simple, and at the same time, quite scary. It's called Soul Magic, and to use it, one activates their soul, causing their eyes glow a bright white light. Once activated, the person becomes faster, stronger, and fatigue doesn't affect them as much, and once activated, the person can have his or her soul activated indefinitely.
Another thing an activated soul can do, is enable the user to use magic. There are eight groups of magic: Earth, Water, Air, Fire, Lightning, Light, Dark, Force. However, using magic comes at a heavy cost. Every time an individual uses magic, they tear a piece of their soul to provide the energy required to cast a spell, the stronger the magic the more soul will be required, and the person will use magic until their soul is depleted and they die. Also, the longer a person's soul is activated the larger the piece that is torn off from the soul when using magic.
Air: Manipulates the sky, weather, and wind
Earth: Manipulates the earth and everything within it
Water: Manipulates all types of liquids
Fire: Manipulates heat and fire
Lightning: Manipulates storms and lightning
Light: Manipulates light particles
Dark: Manipulates shadows
Force*: Manipulates the physical world; gravity, reality, and all physics can be manipulated with this
*Force magic is by far the most dangerous magic subtype as its users die the quickest. Most of those who use it never reach above the age of thirteen.
This RP is going to feature pretty damn strong individuals since, if you want to join, your characters are going to be going toe-to-toe with gods and fierce immortal beings that can destroy a mountain by looking at it. Although this will be a military-esque RP, I want to focus more on character drama and the way the war changes our characters instead of constant continuous battles. Also, I'd like this RP to be semi-character driven, as in the characters drive the story forward; I do have certain things planned for the RP, but I also find that when characters drive the story, it's both unpredictable and hella fun.
@The Omnipotent Sphere Life randomly butted in before I could actually start that RP. And before I knew it, I was out of the country doing stuff, so my bad. I won't abandon this one, so no worries!

Two more days and it'll be a week since the IntCheck went up. Not sure if I'll hold my breath any longer than that.
