Apologies. I've been busy with college preparations the last couple of days, and after considering a couple of things, I believe I will have to withdraw. Generally, I find that outright kicking a player should be nothing less than a last resort, and it doesn't feel like that here. I mean, if I kicked every player that showed interest in the world I had created by asking a couple of questions or who had assisted me with GMing when I was having a rough time, I'd be right out of good players.

I do have a problem with that, and it makes me wonder if I'll end up getting kicked for asking the wrong question or doing the wrong thing. Things like this lead to an uncomfortable atmosphere, at least for me, which is the reason for my withdrawal.

Once again, I wish you the best of luck in your endeavors despite the circumstances. Have a pleasant evening.

Unilaterally taking over after questioning every GM decision because someone wasn't around for a day is not 'helping'. All that stuff actually slowed it down. Without half the stuff that happened OOC and IC we'd have been at the castle within one or two days.

Not to say that helping is wrong, but that was not an example. :/

@Shisa: The reason that I chose to kick them was because of repeated arguments against rulings as a GM and traits of the setting. I was not having a hard time GMing, I was waiting for other players to be ready to get moving. I do not enjoy kicking people but I was frustrated and did not feel I had any other viable choice, and I would ideally not find any need to kick anyone else.

It was not simply asking questions, but asking questions that led into page-long or more arguments against things I had decided about the setting or decisions I had made as a GM. The rushing to the dungeon, leaving other players behind, taking over as GM when I thought I was quite clear why I was waiting, and refusing to cooperate, were ultimately what made me make my decision.

If you still wish to withdraw, that's fine, but I want to make my reasoning clear.

For everyone else, I'm beginning to think it may be the best to just restart the RP for a smoother start. Does anyone else agree?

Well then, I suppose my perception of the events is just a little different. You have every right to your own views, of course, but my mind remains unchanged. My withdrawal still stands, and once again I wish you the best of luck.

That's your choice, then.

For everyone else, um, like I said, do you think it's a good idea to restart?

I'd be fine either way.

Seems like a good idea to me. Much simpler than trying to work out which posts are still relevant and where everyone is.

Perhaps restarting with everybody already together, and already at the dungeon entrance would be best.

Lengthy intros are one of the easiest ways to kill off a game, all things considered. As we've seen, the players get bored, and then they start lashing out.

That sounds pretty good. The last version of this I was in died before even reaching the dungeon, kinda like this.

Hmm. I liked having a bit more flavoring at the start(for example, why Tanya was doing any of this in the first place), but I guess if people really want it to start at the dungeon instead...

There's nothing stopping you from explaining why Tanya wants to kill the Skeleton King while doing it, or simply mentioning it in passing.

I've always been a fan of stories starting in medias res, and explaining important details when they're most relevant. After all, brevity is the soul of wit.

In medias res is annoying in a roleplay. At least stick the 'why' in the first post. If there's any sort of coherent explanation, it doesn't really count as that. <.<

If I have everyone at the dungeon the first post will be an exposition dump. There's no way for me to get around that because I want everyone informed IC.

Alright, I'm probably going to just make a new thread for this so we've got a clean slate.

Odd, there should be an option for you to change the title. Isn't there an button right underneath the title that says "Edit Topic"?
