"Well this is certainly noisy..." I said as I looked over at the others. I was already in a bad mood thanks to my lack of morning coffee, and I had a headache. I was happy to see my brother again but other then that, I just really wanted to shoot somthing. I sighed and leaned against the haul of ship again. It was moments like these that I really, really, really want a vacation. Or a beer. Or both. Yeah, both is good.
Eli Matthews
I shrugged and shook my head. "Hopefully we'll get on the ship soon. I can't wait to get off this rock." I responded as I cracked my neck. I hadn't actually gone out on any missions for a while and I was itching to be useful.
I recall once when I was a cadet I went to a party. It was the first time I had ever gotten drunk, and I mean really drunk. I can remember looking around, and it seemed like everyone was acting so strangely. When in reality they were all perfectly normal. Oh how I wish I could blame what I just witnessed on some drunken hallucination...
Aside from the all the broken protocol and lack of respect this was like an orgy of stupidity and hypocritical bullshit. I'd honestly hate to know what my blood pressure is like right now. This is why I strongly dislike choosing a team based off of their files, you never really know what someone is like or how they interact with others until you've spent time with them. Without any hesitation I draw my side arm and fire three shots into a near by concrete pillar. "This is God." I say holding up my gun for the group to see. "God is a large caliber hand gun. And I swear by God that if any of you ever pull this kind of shit again I will rain down the wrath of God on you. I suggest you make this fact your religion." I say in a commanding, harsh, and unpleasant tone. After a few seconds I re-holster my gun.
Taking a few steps towards Eric I focus my attention on him. "If you ever threaten me I will put you out that very same airlock before you know what hit you." I say in a low and menacing voice. I press a piece of paper to his chest. "Everyone step forward to receive your bunking assignments." I say loudly and hold up a stack of papers in my other hand. Turning, I walk to right beside the entrance of the ship. "Also, due to the complete lack of respect and disregard for military conduct you'll all be confined to your quarters for the rest of the day and you all have volunteered for janitorial duties, feel free to thank those responsible and the regular crew of this ship greatly appreciates your generosity." I announce and then take a deep breath. I could hear the laughter of the ship's crew coming from on board. Apparently they were amused by the situation.
After the second shot I more or less quit paying attention to what Commander Monroe was saying, not that I didn't think it was important but I was slightly more concerned with the bullet now lodged in my leg. Thankfully the third shot drowned out any noise I made when struck by the ricochet, I recovered in time to catch the part about being confined to quarters and janitorial duties. After Commander Monroe walked to the loading ramp of the ship I took a look for Capt. Carson and when I spotted her, waved in her direction saying.
"Captain Carson, your slotted to be the squad medic correct?" I asked to which she nodded an affirmative, then I continued. "there's something urgent I need to speak to you about after we receive our bunking orders." I say as normally as I can and hang to the back of the group, with barely any sign that there's a hole in my leg.

Showing my displeasure by letting out a loud groan I start walking towards the C.O. to get my room assignment. 'I swear if I'm bunked with one of those assholes I'm going to make his life miserable for as long as this trip last!' I think to myself as I take my piece of paper. I look down at it as I continue into the ship and I can't help but smile. 'O fuck yeah, Welcome to hell bitch.' I was paired with the man that shot his mouth off at the coms officer. Now to find something fun to do to make this trip unforgettable.
I nearly leap out of my skin at the sound of the shots. I patiently wait through the admonitions Rin deals to us with.
Well, I think to myself, that could have gone so much worse. I could have been demoted again but I have only scored a days confinement and janitorial duties. I should work on my temper. I would ask Rin, after all she is the Commander, but I am too worried she'll laugh at me. I've been laughed at before by superiors when I have tried to ask for their help, either that I have been told off or told not to be such a coward. Rin will probably be too busy.
I walk forward and take the piece of paper with my room assignment. I thank Rin before checking it. I grin, I got Giovanna! I like her attitude, hopefully she is just as happy as I am with the assignment.
I continue onto the ship and towards the quarters where I will be spending the day.
CAPTAIN CHRIS HENDERSON I was late and i was not very happy about it. My transport was an old type. And i swear that the reactor had almost overloaded at least five times. So you can imagine the relief i felt when i finally saw my destination glimmering in the distance. I was so happy i even drank some of my whiskey which i had hidden into my coat. There where a lot of things hidden in my coat. One of those things being my gun. Some more whiskey and scotch, and of course a pack of smokes. My duffle bag had the regular stuff. We docked and i could hear the usual ads shouting about some product being better that that product. I sighed in relief when i stepped out of the almost falling apart transporter. And went On my way To the other transporter where i would meet the rest of my crew. On they way there i bumped into a couple of engineers who seemed to be eyeing my coat. I opened my coat showing them my gun and they quickly looked the other way.
I finally made it to the docking bay and walked one very strange scene. Rin lee Monroe my commander had just fired a few bullets into a wall and then went on a rant that here gun was god. And that they where all to have Janitorial duties for the rest of the day. She then gave them bunking assignments not noticing me at all. I put my poker face on and walked over to here nodding at everyone. I then stopped a respectful 2 meters away from here saluted and said in a relaxed but respectful tone. " Captain Chris Henderson reporting for duty commander. My apologies for being a little late my transport had a few issues on the way here." I gulped and waited for a response. Hoping that that response was not a punch in the face.
'These officers sure know how to blow hot air don't they.' I think to myself as all of a sudden chaos erupted around me. Another hot-headed officer shouted out my call-sign and started telling me stuff I already knew. Of course I'm an ass-hole, dealing with idiots your entire life will do that to you. Then of course there were the comments from the others that I barely heard over all the other rabble noise. Sighing inwardly I close my eyes for a quick second. This mission was going to be a chore. Why couldn't everyone just let me do my job?
Every other unit I've been in usually started like this though. The officers would try to control me. Attempt to get me to be the "good soldier". They'd try being hard at first, thinking they can intimidate me into doing what they want. They'd threaten my life, rank, and pay, but that never worked. Then they'd try being nice, saying I won't ever get promoted past sergeant unless I straighten up. Oh well, I like my rank, I can do what I need to do without all the political B.S. that comes with being an officer. Eventually though every officer comes around and accepts it. I'm a soldier, and a damned good one. Once my boots hit the battlefield they see who I really am. A God damned killer of men and all they need to do is point me in the right direction and let me go. Yea combat is the only place I care to follow orders, as long as they're not a mistake.
'BANG BANG BANG!' The sound reverberated around the big hanger, snapping my eyes open. I had to force myself to not level my rifle at Commander Monroe's head as my combat reflexes tried to kick in at the unexpected gunfire. My wide eyes, fast breathing, and a slight twitch of my finger touching the trigger on my rifle, were the only signs of the quick struggle against instinct. I take a breath to calm myself as the Commander speaks. Slinging my rifle over my shoulder, and petting Lea's head a bit, but not for very long as the Commander shoved a piece of paper into my chest. Grabbing it with my hand I glance at my bunk assignment before looking up at the Commander. She has guts, and a strength about her that I haven't seen in the higher ranks before.
"Very well, M'am. I believe we have an understanding," I tell her, snapping a quick salute. My eyes not leaving hers for the brief formal moment. "If that is all, M'am, I'll set up my bunk and get on with cleaning this tub," I add. Waiting a few moments for a reply before heading into the ship, Lea trailing behind me, her bushy tail wagging.
I find my assigned room and drop my bags on one of the beds, along with my rifle before sitting down. I watch Lea as she walks around the room sniffing at the other beds and simple furnishings before coming back over to me. Staring into her dark brown eyes I can't help but smile. "Always in a good mood aren't you girl?" I ask her with a small chuckle. She just barks and wags her tail a bit as I pat her head. After a few moments of just petting Lea I straighten up on my bed and stretch. The servos of my arm whining quietly with the strain. "Well, let's get this over with," I say to myself as I look around for a broom before starting to sweep the small room.
I took the bunking assignments and gulped when I saw I was bunking with Commander Monroe. The woman was terrifying! There was no way I was going to be getting any sleep tonight. I glanced at her briefly and sighed. Why was I freaking out so much? She was human after all. She couldn't be completely heartless and terrifying. I mean, yeah, sure she could probably kill me 500 different ways with her pinkie but maybe she wouldn't be so bad if I got to know her. I was at a loss as to how one would get to know their superior officer, but I'd figure out a way. After all, if I did end up pissing her off and her killing me I'd just go through Rebirth again. Hopefully anyway, unless she figured out a way to stop that... Which she probably could... Crap, I'm totally dead.
I sighed and took my bunking assignment. I looked at it and was slightly confused as to who I was bunking with. I knew no one, oh well I'd find out soon enough. I looked at my sister and noticed that she had a mildly terrified look on her face, while looking at her bunk assignment. I saw her look at Commander Monroe and I tried not to laugh. She must have been the unlucky soul that got to bunk with the devil. I did have to admit that her choice of name for her gun was amusing, if not slightly fear inspiring.
I was in the middle of tinkering with a device when I heard 3 loud gun shots fire. I flinched before looking at the source of the noise. Rin Lee Monroe stood in my vision. Spouting something about God being a pistol, or rather a gun in general. Now, I'm not much for religion, I really think the whole thing is a farce to control people, but damn, I can't really argue with God being a gun. Just a different way of controlling people I suppose. Considering that I am part of the Rebirth program, I'm not too afraid of guns, but I wouldn't want to be on the bad side of Monroe. I bet she'd make sure that I wasn't dead enough to warrant a rebirth, and then keep shooting me.
Aside from all this noise, I took a look at my bunking assignment. "Eli Matthews?" I murmured. My room mate to be. I'm quite certain this is a woman. I chuckled to myself when I thought of a guy named 'Eli'. However, man or woman, as long as I get peace and quiet and they don't touch my stuff, everything will go swimmingly.
Janitorial duties..? Really guys? I thought people in the military would know better than to piss off the commander. Ah whatever. At least I get to take the rest of the day off in my room, right?
As everyone disbanded, I promptly walked into my room. Time to dominate the only desk in this bunker. Which I did so with gusto. My work was important after all. I need this desk. If Eli has a problem with it, they'll have to strike a deal with me first.
I was a little concerned when Lt. Commander Sharp spoke directly to me. Did I do something wrong? Am I in trouble already? Well, I guess we're all in trouble thanks to those dumbasses who shot off at each other and the Commander. Who does that? Any ways, I'm getting distracted. "Yes sir, of course." I say with a swift nod. I hung towards the back with him. After being some of the last to take our bunking assignments we step inside the ship and down a corridor. "Is there a problem sir? I didn't think I had done anything wrong..." I trail off nervously. His overall demeanor was very hard to read, that always frustrates me. Though I also respect it. It seems to be something that the higher ranks are best at.
"Hallelujah!" I blurted out after 'GOD' made his entrance. Suddenly I realized that I had said it out loud. I clasped a hand over my mouth and tried not to chuckle. The commander might have been prone to aim the gun in my direction next. It wouldn't be the first time I would have had to regenerate by the hand of a comrade. Oops. I feed on high energy a bit more than people would prefer me to sometimes. Praise God. I thought, with an internal sneer.
I decided that some of the others may have thought my reaction was a look of surprise from the gunshots, but honestly I hadn't been startled by that. It was more amusing than anything. This Rin chick was alright. She might have to knock us all around a bit to keep us in line. But who ever said that I would mind things getting a little rough?
I put on a straight face and nodded to the commander respectfully. "Ma'am." I said, taking my bunk assignment. I thought about the janitorial duties with a bit of disdain. But if I played my cards right I could probably convince one of these chums to take a little extra work so I wouldn't have to do it. I glanced back at Commander Monroe. She would probably notice, and definitely wouldn't stand for that. Oh well.
I looked down at the bunk assignments until I found my name. I was assigned with an Azurael. I looked up, and around at all the different faces. "As if I know who the fuck that is." I mumbled under my breath. I knew no one here anyway. I guess we'll see. Maybe it was the chick that kept cutting a look and a smirk in my direction. She looked like a bit of a stiff with her tight braid and pressed shirt, but I looked her up and down. Hm, not bad. This could be fun.
After handing out all the rooming assignments but one I turn my attention to Captain Henderson. "A whole damn day late isn't a little. " I scold him. With a loud roar the ship's engines start. I gesture for him to follow me as I walk up the ramp and inside the ship. Once we're both aboard I see the hatches shut and the ship start to move. "I'll be honest, I was about to leave your ass. But now that your here we can finally get underway. I'll give you the briefing on the mission, please wait till I'm done before you ask any questions." I tell him as I start to walk further into the ship. I manage to nearly perfectly balance myself as the inside of the ship jostles. Smaller ships like this aren't as good about being stable while making complex movements in atmosphere. As we step into a private room I can feel the ship start to smooth out. I explain the mission to Captain Henderson Just like I had done with all the others. I also highlight some of the questions raised and my answers to them. After concluding I take a deep breath. "Any questions?" I ask. I have this feeling like I'm forgetting something. Looking down I see the paper in my hand. "Oh, and this is your bunking assignment." I say handing him the paper.
I smiled at her worries, she was probably concerned because I had just chewed out Sargent Fenris. She had nothing to worry about, her conduct towards the commander had been exemplary. I'd put up with quite a bit from those under me but disrespect to the commanding officer was a breach of the fundamental principles of the military and I could not tolerate that!
I shifted slightly as I was thinking this and the pain in my leg reminded me of why I was talking to the medical officer. "No nothing like that, I have a problem I need your help with." I said as I pulled my hand from my pocket and showed it to her, it was covered in blood but had, until now, kept the blood from showing through my pants. "I was struck by a ricochet from God, that's the second time I've received his wrath." I say with a smirk.
I was not very surprised by the reaction of Rin. A hardened Military Commander like here hated slip ups By even the tiniest amount. So i remained quit as she scolded at me. She gestures that i should follow. I do without hesitation. She then tells me that she was about to leave my ass. as we walk i think to myself." still being a bitch as always." I follow here to a private room where she explains me the operation in greater detail. I nod and nod and nod. She then hands me my bunking assignment." Hmm Sargent Eric Ferris. Hope he won't be as bad." I walk of to my quarters and i laugh as i take a sip from my whiskey." The best killer we got yet she still sucks at the contraband." I say to myself as i walk to my chambers.
I open my door to see Eric already cleaning up the room. I then notice the little dog sniffling my feet. I smile as i pet the little thing. I then look up at Eric and say." damm do you have a cute dog. Whats her name anyways?" I stand up and reach to shake his hand." The name is Chris by the way."
I finished the sweeping of my assigned room and put the broom back where I found it. Lea was laying on the bed, curled up on herself and just watching me as I cleaned. Smiling at her I pat her head, she lazily thumps her tail against the bed in response, then open my bag. Looking around real quick to make sure that there was no one hiding about. Hard as that may be in such a cramped ship. Before quickly pulling out my bottle of whiskey and taking a quick drink. "AH!, That's good," I exclaim openly to myself. Smacking my lips a bit to savor the taste as it burned down my throat. "Can't clean proper without a touch of liquor to lube the hinges," I say to Lea with a chuckle, while holding the bottle in my bionic arm.
Lea barked up at me, her tail wagging in earnest this time. "What? You want some too, baby girl?" She barked again, standing up on the bed and crouching low, her hind end in the air. "Oh, no, no, no, you can't have any of this. Remember what happened last time?" Her tail slowed, but she still stood poised to leap on me. "You threw up all over my good boots and passed out in the door!" I said with a laugh that prompted Lea to then jump on me and start licking my face and knocking me over on the bed. I make sure to place the bottle of whiskey back in my bag before rolling around with the big, hairy dog. "Oh, no you don't! You wittle rascal you!" I say while laughing at the same time as we rolled around on the bed. She licked me at every opportunity she could get, while I batted at her and shoved her around. After a good twenty minutes though I was tired and flopped onto the bed. Lea took the opportunity to jump on my chest and proceed to lick me to death. "All right, all right. You win, bah, you win, girl!" I exclaim between her furious laps of her tongue. After some petting and pushing she finally relented and just lay down on the bed again, panting. We both take a few moment to catch our breath. "Well, back to cleaning," I say, sitting up, then grabbing another quick drink before getting back to cleaning the room.
Not even a few minutes later Lea jumps off the bed and walks up to a man who had entered. I watch as the man pets Lea, leaning my weight on the mop I was using and taking a drag from my cigar. I spot the Captain's rank on the man's uniform. 'Great, another bug-assed piece of brass' I think to myself. Probably here to try and keep me in line. Then the man said that Lea was cute, which forced a lop-sided smile to my face. I couldn't help but smile when someone praised Lea. "Her name's Lea, and mine's Eric, Sergeant, if you care about that thing," I reply, taking the man's hand in my own. Careful not to use my bionic, as most people tend to not want to touch it. This captain though was different, he didn't come in and insist I salute him or even introduce himself by rank. That and his breath smelled of whiskey. Hell mine prolly did too.
After getting my room assignment I decided it would probably be wise to go straight to my room and not goof off any, at least for today, the commander didn't seem to be in a good mood for not shooting people today, maybe she was on her period. I got to my room and looking inside saw I was first to arive. "sweet!" I say out loud. "I get my pick of sides!" as I said this I put my things down on the bed nearest the A.C. vent and started unpacking.
My eyes drift down to his leg. I can see the blood rushing from the fresh wound. Despite my quickened heart beat I become more calm and focused. "Can you walk to the medical bay on your own?" I ask him. After he assures me that he can I the handkerchief out of my pocket and press it to the wound to slow the bleeding till we get there. After discretely making our way to the medical bay I start going through the supplies they had rather than getting into my own, I want to save those for our actual mission. "Remove your pants please." I say professionally, without even thinking of how it could be misinterpreted. I quickly gather the thing I need to clean, stitch, and dress the wound. Also what I'll need for pulling out the bullet itself. After setting these things on a tray I remove my jacket, pin back my hair, thoroughly wash my hands, and finally put on a set of latex gloves. Then I make my way back to the Lt. Commander.
As Capt. Carson readies her tools I remove my pants, carefully so as not to get more blood on them than necessary, then I sit down on the exam table and focus on relaxing the muscles in that leg. Thankfully the augmentations made it possible for me to almost completely ignore pain, as well as increased my muscle density which probably helped to stop the bullet before it struck my femur, that would have been messy. Before I knew it she was back with a tray of tools and ready to start, she looked the leg over once and started frowning slightly. "First I'd like to remind you that I am a fully trained and licensed medical officer, so what I'm about to say is completely professional. Your boxers are in the way. I'll need to roll the leg up so I can get to the wound." It was an understandable request considering the circumstances, so I nodded my consent. "Certainly Captain, if it would be easier for you to work I can take them off." I say as she starts to roll the leg of my boxers up with some difficulty.
Commander Rin Monroe
After dismissing Captain Henderson I make my way to the medical bay. I have a massive headache that will only be soothed by strong pain killers. By now the ship is well out of atmosphere and on it's way to the space station. I expect everyone to be in their quarters and see nothing that would lead me to believe otherwise. The halls are quiet for the most part, a steady hum of the engines but that doesn't bother me. I try to take the opportunity to run over a mental check list. It's hard though with this bad of a headache. I'm lost in my thoughts and expecting nothing as I walk through the doors of the medical bay just in time to see Brandy with her head over Brine's lap and him offering to remove his underwear. This early in the mission I logically don't expect anyone to be injured... So what then could be going on here? "Brine, you better be bleeding because if you aren't you will be." I say sternly as I walk into the room. Approaching the exam table I'm able to see that he is in fact injured, though still without pants. Meanwhile Brandy looks like she just got caught stealing money from her mother's wallet. I walk around to where I'm standing behind Brandy. "Carry on Captain, you aren't in trouble." I assure her and rest a hand on her shoulder. I lean in closer to inspect the wound myself, looks like some kind of shrapnel. "What happened?" I ask, despite already knowing what likely occurred. I glance back up to Brine's face. "I can't seem to escape God's wrath, ma'am." He chuckled. I shake my head slightly and roll my eyes. "Sorry Lt. Commander, I legitimately didn't mean to shoot you... this time." I remark, sounding more laid back than I had been previously. "Yes ma'am, I know. You have much better aim when your trying." He says with a mischievous smirk.
Captain Brandy Carson
While these two were gabbing away like two drinking buddies I'm busy trying to concentrate on the fact that I have a patient on my table who is bleeding. I try to ignore them, but it is difficult, especially so with the Commander's hand on my shoulder. As I sit there trying to hold the leg of his boxer up and clean the wound I feel myself getting more and more frustrated. "I'm sorry Commander, but if your going to stay and watch I'll need you to actually be useful." I say somewhat snappy as I take her hand off my shoulder and place it on the bunch of Brine's boxers that I was holding. Judging by the look on her face I would say she was surprised, but recognized that in this particular situation I'm the boss. Luckily most people with as much experience as her realize that you shouldn't argue with the person who is trying to help. "Thank you." I added, slightly more tactfully this time.
Commander Brine Sharp
As Capt. Carson laid Commander Monroe's hand on my leg a multitude of boyhood fantasies jumped up into my mind faster than I could stop them, causing me to blush uncontrollably for a moment, thankfully I don't think anyone noticed, Captain Carson was too intent on my wound and I'm pretty sure Commander Monroe was too focused on where her hand had just been put. O God, what if I get an erection! I thought suddenly. I'm pretty certain they would notice that! How do I stop that?! I started thinking of anything I could that was a turnoff for me and that seemed to work pretty well, then just as I had that under control Captain Carson finished cleaning my wound and picked up a hypodermic needle of what I assumed was pain killers. "Capt. Carson, that wont be necessary." I say looking to Commander Monroe as if to ask whether or not to tell Capt. Carson about my augmentations. "It's alright, you can tell her, she needs to know anyways." She said, then I briefly explained what they were and how they affected my medical treatment to Captain Carson and said. "I'll be sure to forward my full medical file to you ASAP Captain."
Captain Brandy Carson
I wasn't expecting Lt. Commander Sharp to be genetically augmented, though it's not surprising that the Rebirth program would be furthered in such a way. I refrain from asking any questions since it doesn't seem appropriate to do so at the moment. Carefully I concentrate on my work. After cleaning the wound I remove the shrapnel, then I clean it again, once satisfied that it's well taken care of I start stitching. While stitching my focus was fully on the task at hand. Quickly though I'm finished and conclude by bandaging the area. "Because of your augmentations it's hard to say exactly when the stitches will need to be removed but I'm going to guess it will be a couple days to a week." I say as I lean back and remove my gloves. After clearing my throat I stand and start to clean up. "You can let go now." I say to Commander Monroe with a slight smirk.
Commander Rin Monroe
Abruptly I remove my hand from Brine's thigh when Brandy made her snide remark. As I step back he, thankfully, puts his pants back on. I'll never admit it but a handful of inappropriate thoughts had crossed my mind, after all it was an awkwardly intimate situation. After thanking Brandy I make my way to the door, closely followed by Brine. Once exiting and walking down the corridor a little ways we stop. "I'd like permission to stop by the mess hall on my way back to my room, ma'am. I heal a lot faster when I have plenty of protein." He says to me. I do feel some guilt over him getting injured, so I grant his request. "Be sure to return to your room immediately after though." I remind him, to which he says. "Yes ma'am." As he is walking away I call out to him. "By the way, I appreciate you being able to contain that blood rush to your cheeks." I say jovially. Then I do something I haven't done in a very long time... I smile.

I finished walking to room and and chose the bed on the left hand side of the room. I liked the left hand side of the room. To make sure Giovanna didn't get that bed I laid down on it, first having removed my socks and boots, as well as my shirt. I of course had a racerback tank top and bra underneath. It showed just enough to border on breaking regulations - but I was in my room and on my bed - so if any-one else came into the room it would be thier fault. It was quite warm anyway. I laid my hands across my stomach and slowly began to doze off.
I was surprised to smell the well known stench of alcohol from Eric,s face. I walk over to my bunk and starts unpacking my bags. However i only unpacked the necessary things. Some clothes a few things for hygiene, Some books and his music player. i also pulled out a bottle of red whine ,and two glasses for taking shots.I Then turned around and took a closer look to Eric. He seemed like someone who had been a soldier for a very long time. The way he looked out of his eyes was enough to prove it. The metal arm just looked like a metal arm. It did not really impress me since he had seen a lot of them. i then sat on my bed and said." So you a drinker to?" i grinned and opened my coat showing all the booze it hid." Because i sure as hell am." I then filed the glasses and gave one of them to him." So how about you tell me your life story?" i then grinned and looked at him, waiting for a reply.
